I use the DMRs for counter sniping. 4x Scope w/Canted Sights, Angled Grip, and Heavy Barrel. It allows for long range to pick off/suppress snipers, and the Iron Sights allow for medium to close range battles as well. Something I noticed with most players is that they just spam bullets down range and miss the ranged kills. All you need to do is slow down and take your times with the shots.
Are you kidding? I think the SKS is the easiest DMR to use by a country mile! First of all, it has a high rate of fire which when coupled with a laser sight, it can do well in close range. The other thing I've found is that this gun is excellent when you use either a heavy barrel OR a suppressor. Idk, maybe it's just me, but I picked this thing up and was immediately comfortable. Of course, the angled grip is the best grip option for most encounters since every shot from a DMR counts as a first shot
You are not alone in this opinion, the SKS IS the easiest DMR in the game only becouse (for me) its RPM is the highest and adjusting the speed of clicking the LMB you can drop people at any range, the set up you mention with the HB / LS / AF is the best you can use with this gun.
If you know how to handle it's rate of fire it's a very versatile weapon. If you just spam it you will miss a lot of shots but will most likely still kill your target. I think the best DMRs are the SKS, EMR, and the SCAR-SV.
kingom1d I'm still getting to know the SCAR-SV and all of its intricacies. The EMR seems good but I got distracted by the SKS and didn't bother with it.
I thought the same as you except I prefer not to use the laser, at medium range I like not to make myself too visible and at close range you are generally fucked by the ROF.
Man thank you for making this video. This made me want to try out the SKS, and it became my favorite weapon in battlefield 4. So many good memories from this that I still cherish, thank you
People often complain about the damage of the DMRs in BF4 in comparison to BF3. I never heard anyone discuss the influence of the new BF4 suppression mechanics on semi-automatic weapons. The way I see it, Dice did the following: BF3 > more suppression > less shots on target because of suppression > higher damage (2 shots to kill close quarters) to make shots count. BF4 > less suppression > more shots on target > less damage (3 shots to kill in close quarters) to make guns balanced/ not OP. Still, I think the DMRs need more damage, or a couple of higher damage multipliers.
I think the headshot multiplier should be a bit higher. Right now there really is no reason to go for head shots simply because you will have to go for another and the recoil gives the intended target that extra split second to move
I'm not so much complaining about close range damage, but a 4 shot is atrocious at long range. Now they have more or less the same damage model as the scar-h M240B PKP which seems unbalanced.
Can I just say I recently discovered your videos and one thing I love about them is the transitions you do sometimes. Everything just looks so smooth and nice. Keep up the awesome work!
I absolutely agree with this review. To me, the stats work as the best DMR. As for play style, you'll want to be a few people back from the front-line, stopping flankers. I think that's what this is for, to cover, provide support and ultimately help your team from behind the front runners. Perhaps play it with medic, so you can run up and revive any fallen fast shooters. Or even use it with tugs and protect a spawn beacon to help your team stay on the front lines.Good job buddy!
ive only recently decided to try to unlock all the dmrs, had no interest in them before. Ive realized that most of them are better with ironsights until you can get an rds of some type. sks is kinda weird because your bullets dont always go where you think they're going
I think you are way off matimio, The higher RPM isn't useful not because of the recoil, but instead because the gun spreads within the first 3 shots at the highest rate of fire.
DMR's suck very few reasons to ever use them every class of weapons is better in almost every way except the engineer's PDW's at mid and long range but even still a Shotgun with Slugs or a Carbine are far better The clip at 4:50 pretty much sums up my experience with DMR's "Whats that? your crosshairs are perfectly on your target and your not spamming the trigger? To bad no hit markers for you" Might as well have used a pistol

i unlocked my DMR using the mk mod 11 with suppressor, without it i sucked, but with it, i could flank many people and since its"long" to kill someone. I likd the option of not being seen when i killed 3-4 snipers in the back on top of shangai rooftops.Also the sound of that gun with silencer is awesome. BUT DMR are utter shit compared to pretty much everything else. they need to either boost the damage, or give less recoil. mostly recoil problem with this.
how about give the DMR x3 damage to the head, insted of x2. now a semi sniper doesnt even one hit in the head at any range. 43 to the chest and 129 to the head seems fair. that gives it a one shot kill alot further. they wont be overpower at any mean, you need headshot skills to use them. would you like to see this change?
There's just something about the recoil on this gun that makes it almost look like it's jumping down, which I think is the most confusing thing. Trying to stay on target with this thing kicking around like a mule at weird diagonals is just HARD.
Anyone else hate the cracking sound that they just lumped onto all the sniper rifles? I mean seriously, I can't hear anything when a guy spams a DMR at me. Wait... I take that back. Dice found a way to make real suppression in the most annoying way possible. I see what you did there. It would be cool if one effect of suppression is that the oncoming fire (of any weapon) is WAY louder than usual. It's distracting, pins you down.
muzzle brake laser sight any sight or grip turns the gun into a straight shooter barely any recoil love this setup for the sks gives u range but for close up spray and pray is all i have to say
AHHH I made it, I was xXxHoweitzerxXx. I said "Woot Matimi0" I tried so hard to keep throwing you AMMO Packs haha, you just kept moving and everyone was shooting me haha. You should have tried it with the FLIR Sight. I found that the most effective. Keep up the Videos!

a thing I found with the DMR's is to just use the iron sites. for some reason I do poorly if I use any other kind of optic. an SVD with iron sights; angled grip; heavy barrel and laser sight is a monster.
Since it's a dmr the only redeeming factor is the accuracy. Use the heavy barrel to make it even more accurate. and use the angled grip to reduce recoil by 33%. I would advice using dmr's like the SVD-12(the name of the game with dmr's are accuracy) and bust out the 4x scope. Then hang around 40 meters behind your own team, and support them with supportive type gadgets like mortars and MAV. The SKS is one of my favorite guns in the game it so good with suppressor and any optic but is abit hard to kill a long range so try and avoid that but overall still one of the my favorite guns in BF4.
SKS is the best DMR that I can use properly, high rate of fire, low recoil, just aim and click click click and done. It is the only DMR that have over 1K/D.
I actually happen to be quite succesful with dmrs. Their damage model might be worse than others but they are meant for LONG range combat. For that they are in my opinion far superior compared to assault rifles. Play conquest large etc defensifly and you are going to mow them down. Also they are in most situations actually pretty good at engaging snipers while most of the other weapons suck on ranges longer than 150m.
I think it's a very easy weapon to use. Some of my best kill streaks have come from this gun just mowing everyone down. You still have to use it appropriately but 4x, laser, heavy barrel, angled grip is definitely the way to go.
The recoil numbers you mentioned by themselves arent that bad, they're roughly the same as in bf3. The problem with the SKS and DMRs in general is that they have a 2x first shot recoil multiplier which always affects the up-pull and can even double either the left or right pull. So for my DMR, I prefer the more consistent QBU-88. Reload montages and hipfire headshots abound.
I really like the sks compared to other dmrs in bf4 the first few prior to the dmrs I really loved it. However so far the M39EMR is my favorite with the SCAR-H SV coming second

I loved the sks in bf3, on paper it was only good, its was like the m16, doesn't excel in any area but is good overall. I think I like the bf4 version, got to play with it a bit more.

I was enjoying the SVd-12 more. Just liked it better over most of the other DMRs. The ACE 53 SV wasn't bad either. I never really liked the SKS from BF3 and it's still not a fav of mine for BF4 either.
The sks in bf4 is so different from bf3, the tactics used in bf4 with this weapon is so different from bf3. I like the weapon, but not as excited about it as in bf3
Speaking of Canted Iron sights, I never understand why people use a close range sight, with the canted iron sights. Why have 2 close range sights on your gun? But anyway, the SKS I use as a flanking weapon, so I always run suppressor, kobra, ergo grip and nothing else!
Matimio, please take a look at the QBB 95 lmg, if you put a angled grip and a muzzle break on there, you can, although it has the worst accuracy in battlelog, kill anyone across the map
Idk how they should balance dmr's. 4 shots to kill just seems aweful long but 3 shots is maybe a bit too easy. I prefer using the mk11 with hb and angled grip but the amount of shots it takes at range seems too much for a semi auto sniper rifle.
i compared the sks with the rfb and must say the sks is waaaay better. at least in my opinion and with my skillset. you can shoot much faster and still be able to hit pretty much every shot. i used them both with 4x scope. the sks has a little less damage, but nearly double the stability. the "fast" firerate makes it survivable in cqb. i had really problems hitting with the suppressor on long range. and of course moving while shooting equals zero accuracy - force yourself to stand still. over all its my favorite dmr
its actually a pretty decent hip fire weapon, it has got the best hip fire out of all the DMR's and a fair rpm so slap on the laser sight, ergo grip, muzzle break and rds ( i prefer kobra sight though) and you can do pretty well. if you're going for the long range you'd be better off with any other DMR imo, i'm no expert but why try to make it a somewhat ok ranged weapon if its base hip fire is standing out compared to the other DMR's

I don't think the angled grip is a "no brainer." The stubby/potato grip reduces the per shot bullet deviation. DMRs have some of the highest bullet deviation in the game. The SKS has the lowest in its class but still benefits from this buff. It makes the rifle much more accurate while spamming the trigger. The weapon has great base accuracy so the HB effectively only increases the recoil. The reason the suppressor is so bad is that the SKS has a 15m/s^2 bullet drop.
Can anyone find ANY reason at all why the QBU only has a 10 round magazine? Its damage is still less than other DMRs, its reload is rather lengthy; I mean, it does nothing SO well that it should only have 10+1. Its still a fun DMR, I just find it to be a mindfuck in every way stat wise.

The SKS with a X1 site, suppressor and Kobra is amazing, I had great fun using it.

No point in using the supressors on the DMR's. They make a certain sound when you shoot at people that your enemies will notice.

The SKS was made to troll in battlefield. Dice finally made it balanced, and I really like the new stats.
If you drop the med packs and make them line up between frame transitions on purpose, then bravo, sir.

i prefer the m39 emr with a bipod and 8 times plus a heavy barrel to just completly lock down anything from afar

u should run the sks with : coyote sight, lasersight, angled foregrip and heavy barrel its SO GOOD :D got a lot of kills with it
Can anyone find ANY reason at all why the QBU only has a 10 round magazine? Its damage is still less than other DMRs, its reload is rather lengthy; I mean, it does nothing SO well that it should only have 10+1. Its still a fun DMR, I just find it to be a mindfuck in every way stat wise.
