i was very on and off about getting this game (the vocaloid part is what drew me in) but honestly your review convinced me to get it! seems there was a lot of love put into the game and i appreciate that

Thank you for this, it finally convinced me to get the game. The last time I was in Japan every single night I’d go to the sega arcade near my hotel and just... live on the groove coaster units haha.. even as a major project diva fan I spent most of my time just going apeshit on groovecoaster and I have absolutely no regrets lmao
It’s downloading rn, super excited to play it again!!

Sometimes I hesitate on purchasing like this and Taiko no Tatsujin because I often fear the game having no songs that I like or too much songs are locked behind a paywall. I liked the arcade version but still couldn't get to like the Steam version after seeing the huge amount of DLCs.

steam version is decent but gets 0 updates so it sucks

Same boat here. I know it's been 2 years but have you considered two other games on Steam: muse dash and musynx? Both are really good rhythm games with a "purchase one pack, get every song ever released" model, and both will cost you around £20-30 for every song.

@@GenerationLex the problem with musynx is not every song is properly timed or has proper reaction to the music.

I was tempted to get it, but after being spoiled by Muse Dash, with ALL the songs unlocked for a set price, seeing over $200 of DLC, and more to come, just made me avoid it like the plague. Shame, looks good, but the HUGE price in order to own all the content wouldn't be so bad if another company hadn't proved it was possible without such tactics.

well, e. g. Just Dance has a subscription for more songs so IMHO that's the same
and at some games - there is at least one board game - the "DLCs" are really worth the money, I can look which one I found to have all the DLCs.
I will buy only on sale DLC which I really love,
at the moment on Nintendo Switch
      there are
      Undertale
      and
Game Music (includes e. g. The World ends of you")
      which sound track I celebrate,
have already bought and played partly both games and *love* them including their sound track.
So my recommendation is to not buy all DLC at once but instead one you feel the right time has arrived to celebrate it's content.
I play video games since 1984, am 52 in 2022.
      Hope that helps your decision.

@@wolfgangricklefs5781 that's the trouble though - I'm spoiled by other games models. If you're used to getting every song for one price, on two games, each containing hundreds of free songs it's very hard to pay the same amount as every song, for probably 30 songs.
Imagine you were playing a game like skul, and for one price you get every level and every "character" which is and will be released. Someone then releases "skelly", a game similar to skul, but every character variant costs $1.99 to unlock, with packs of 7 for $10. You then have to tell the original player, "you know how you paid $20 and got all the content included? Well the total for everything in this game is $200 and growing. Just pick the skulls you REALLY like, and skip the others", like nah, just give me Skul. See what I'm saying?
I'm younger than you at 41 but yeah I've played since the BBC and Amiga days. Love games, appreciate your opinion but I sadly can't share it on this occasion - muse dash model has spoiled me too much
Genuinely don't know how they manage to profit from it, but I shall not question it too much haha

Another problem but it's probably just me. In some songs like Knights of Nights, whenever the rapidly press the button part shows up, I do what its told but it doesn't read it. This works fine on other songs, especially fast ones but not that one. It's strange, do others have this problem?

Nah I ran into similar issues myself, especially with the Active Controls. For regulars controls doing the recalibrations helped a bit but sometimes I still had the same issues. It might also be due to my joycon's power being low though I can't say for sure.

I honestly want that game when I get the Nintendo Switch in the future with “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate”.

It kinda makes sense why there's so many songs that are DLC only, as the arcade version has songs that can only be unlocked by owning a NESiCA card and playing quite a bit.
Is it good to have DLC worth hundreds of dollars for a game with the base price of $60? Probably not
Look at mobile rhythm games. There's loads of original songs, covers and even various game soundtracks and in some even base songs (as in, the original of a song, like anime songs). While you have to unlock the non-original tracks (i.e. tracks not from that game's franchise), it can be done with in-game currency you acquire by playing. Then again, those games earn money from other things

the thing stopping me from getting this game is 1. the price and 2. how distracting the visuals are

Do they have the blazblue songs?

    • @Gamemasta14
      @Gamemasta14 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Currently the game doesn't have Blazblue songs. It's still getting DLC since recently a new DLC Pack featuring Shirakami Fubuki and Natsuiro Matsuri.
