Stunning views!!! First time viewer here and I have to say I admire all the winter prep cleanup. As far as water, I probably would make a room to enclose and insulate to keep water as long as possible, even using 2 containers. But other than that I love your setup at least the outdoor portion shown in this vid. Your chikky ladies look fat and sassy... and your dogs energy is wonderful brings a nice touch to the vid. I will watch more!
Thank you for your comment. Perhaps next year Spring/Summer I will improve water storage situation. Unfortunately I had to dispatch 2 chickens yesterday... down to 4 Buff Orpingtons now. Doggos energy can be a bit much at times but he can be a good companion at times... he needs a job 24/7. Stay well.
Greetings from Denmark. I just found your channel and I want to ask you how you heat your house. Is there a way to give the chickens some warmth when it gets really cold? The water thing is a problem that could possibly be solved by wrapping the container in rock wool mats like we use to insulate houses where I live. Good luck with the future! 👍😊
Hello Denmark! Welcome. Thank you for your comment. I heat my cabin with a small woodstove. perhaps next year I will consider a better option for water storage... for now I just melt snow on my wood stove or outdoor fire. I do not provide any warmth for the chicens... as long as they are kept dry they will be fine. Good questions! All the best to you.
Long time subscriber here, nice to see more again (of your new chapter). That was one of your better "surprise" endings. Still like the chainsaw give away one though.
2 things… build a box that goes around the water container and then heat the box so you can have running water all year long. All you would need to do is run a duck from inside of your cabin out to the box and use a little small RV fan that circulates the air, and you would need to move the water container closer to the house or the cabin. Also, next summer, why don’t you rent a small front loader and build yourself a road up to the cabin from where your truck is parked. You could also periodically bring in many tons of DGA for the road base. A full dump truckload of DGA is only about $70 where I’m at here in Kentucky, so I’m not sure how much it would be there, but a dump truckload is about 24 tons.
@@the_E4_Mafia sounds like a lot of money spending, if I wanted easy I would go back to civilization :-) Thanks for your comment/suggestions... all the best to you.
Down is down, off is off... best 2 words to teach a dog. Down command when say dog running towards traffic, shout DOWN, dog drops and stays down. OFF is off the couch, off the bed, off ME. Hope that helps.
Have you ever wondered why water doesn't freeze in water towers in winter? I am told that it would if it were not for the fact that enough water is flowing in and out to prevent it from freezing.
@@ph_Beast Thank you, yes I am very fortunate. I spent years dreaming about it just as you are... get out of debt if you have any, start plotting your future, even one step in the direction is better than none. Think outside the box! Good luck you.

Some times it’s easier said than done
Or build your house around the water source “Amish made”

Well said comment
You need to secure your weather proofing down so the wind don't mess it up ...
