It’s not just that it’s after the purchase, it can change months or years later. If you don’t agree to the new terms, there is no option for a refund and your only option is screw off. Louis Rossmann in the right to repair movement calls this EULA roofies because these companies feel they are entitled to do whatever they want with you. There’s one example of such a EULA that popped up randomly on a $3,800 LG TV. it wasn’t just for online functionality, but you were unable to use the other input on the TV without agreeing to their forced arbitration. Essentially, you have it $3,800 paperweight if you don’t agree to sign your rights away this happened to people months or years after purchase. This stuff is getting way out of hand.
@@t.k3579if ubisoft is just taking the money they made from crew 1 and leave the players nothing, then it's fair for the players to take their game and not give them their money
I don't know why this is being said ad-nauseum. Piracy doesn't fix this. Piracy doesn't fix anything. Your pirated copies will also stop working if it's an always-online game. You can feel better about yourself knowing you didn't give a bad company money, but if this becomes normalized you will still own nothing in the end. I wish more people would actually get involved instead of farming engagement with this catchphrase
What makes this even worse is that even if by some miracle the community manages to get The Crew 1 back online there's a very good chance that Ubisoft will immediately pull a Nintendo and file a cease and desist and basically any other trick they've got to try and stop people from creating a better version of The Crew than what they gave to their customers or a better Crew game than whatever their latest Crew games will be. The fans are basically stuck with whatever crap Ubisoft hands out to them and the devs are forced to watch multiple years of hard work get erased from existence before that hard work even gets to celebrate it's 10th anniversary. And Ubisoft will do it all over again for The Crew 2. And The Crew Motorfest. And whatever new Crew games come out from them in the coming years. Fuck Ubisoft.
Ubisoft is afraid that people will make the crew 1 a better game than motorfest..they really don't want to lose revenue. It simply business to them,no feelings or passion involved.
The thing is not even nintendo is that bad. The wii has had its online servers shutdown years ago but you can still play online by modding your console. (Which is very easy apparently)The same thing is happening now on the wii u and 3ds and nintendo has been doing nothing to stop it.
You have to thanks Valve with Steam for it, If I'm not wrong they are the first one who started "you don't buy game, you buy access to play our game." and nobody had any problems but then Ubisoft comes in and everyone start crying ignoring who started it.
At least when the servers shutdown for Test Drive Unlimited 2, the community was able to revive the game, and you can still play offline if you want. We cannot even do that with the Crew 1 now. Very upsetting
They were revived between parts, as the same group was making it for PC and PS3. It took a while but it came out for the PC version while the PS3 version 3 years ago they say they will bring new features soon....
We eventually will, the problem is, with this absolutely horrifying move from the company, is not certain if that offline mode will be available long enough before Ubisoft would try a sue or cease and desist bullshit because reasons. They are dying (If those finantials reports are correct) and the high corporates are just trying to milk the last they can before the ship sinks
@@matijota8728 you know what's funny ? Older ubisoft devs support mods actually lmao. Old watch dogs devs were impressed by the living city mod and even encouraged the modders to continue. It's just the CEO being a huge ahole. I'm pretty sure devs didn't want this decision to be established too
@@matijota8728let them sue, their grounds for wanting a cease and desist would be similar to the grounds we should still have the game as both center around ownership and fair use
2024 will probably go down in history as the most anti-consumer year in gaming history, Ubisoft finally managed to surpass EA as the most hated gaming company, gotta give it to Ubisoft, that's all they deserve.
every year we steep further from consumer rights. companies talk with money people will pay without questions without care. they still have profited despite that
EA was the reason why I quit gaming on PC back in 2009 with their five activation BS for their games at that point in time. Thankfully the industry implemented a more acceptable form of DRM when I decided to return in 2014.
The whole "it's in the EULA" argument is actually part of a fallacy known as "Appeal to Authority", i.e an argument that's only predicated on what a certain "authority" (in this case, Ubisoft) says instead of the material validity of what's being said or done.
Well, it's also in the EU Consumer Protection rules that what you buy is what you own, especially years ago when The Crew 1 just launched. Guess what have more weight in the EU?
EULA's can't overwrite laws or consumer protection policies. Its one thing for company to say they have the right to take away your product for any reason. Its another when they actually follow through.
Not even EA has managed to piss me off recently as much as Ubisoft is doing It releases horrifying games created without no heart and passion, it has questionable policies, a work environment that destroys those who work there, it has the nerve to leave decades-old franchises behind that deserve to return (like Beyond 2 which we still know nothing about!), and now it also takes away games that we paid for with our own money. I don't even see any reason to buy their products anymore, it's a disgusting company and anyone who gives them money is equally disgusting
At LEAST Electronic Arts allowed SimCity 2013 to receive an Offline mode. There's still DRM, but at least if the servers eventually die in the near future, you can still play the game offline.
Sent the same message to Uni myself ‘Well done on stripping EA of the title ‘Gamings Biggest Cunts’. I thought they had forever but you smashed it. Well done you” Disappointingly, they never responded 🤷🏻♂️
I give EA a small degree of credit for not issuing cease and desist letters to the NFS World community servers... at least I hope it doesn't come to that in the near future.
EA still fucking sucks. They introduced rootkit anti cheat in Battlefield V and Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2. Basically blocking compatibility with Steam Deck and desktop Linux when the games were previously working perfectly fine.
@@JTCPingas Not only that, my game performance dropped to 5-20fps on lowest settings while getting 60-80 on high/ultra like 2 months ago (Windows desktop). I have no idea what they f***ed up, but BF1 runs completly fine. And the worst thing is that it didnt even solve the BFV cheater problem...

I am 100% with you. Never buying another Ubisoft game. Even though I haven’t in years I cannot support these evil practices. Doesn’t help the moderators in “the_crew” subreddit are deleting posts and defending the game against anyone that brings this topic up.
Saw some screenshots of the mods deleting posts about it. But remember that is reddit in a nutshell as well. Well the internet in general is an echo chamber but reddit is probably one of the worst.
I'm glad Skull & Bones flopped hard. The fact their executive said we should "get used to no owning their games" made me never buy a Poopisoft game again. Hope they get used to players never paying for their games. With that mindset I hope Ubi goes under. That level of anti consumer thought should have zero tolerance in this industry.
I actually tried the free demo they opened for a few days. Incredibly mediocre, the ship combat was passable I guess, the connectivity was abysmal, and the character customization was extremely limited. The only real redeeming quality was that the graphics were genuinely really good looking imo. I played it for maybe 2 hours total.
Ubisoft killed Trials Fusion too, thousands of great user made tracks are not available anymore, it had become my go to game, I will never forgive Ubisoft and will never buy.
To anyone saying 'but the eula'. Google the term 'abusive clause' it's a thing that prevents companies from exploiting consumers. Tl;dr a company can't just take away the product that you bought from them, even if it was mentioned in the contract. Know your rights because lack of knowledge is what allows all those AAA publishers to do stuff like this.
Gotta add that in that the offline mode for The Crew 1 is already coded inside the game. The only reason it isn't accessible normally is literally a single bit in the code that hides it. Remember, Ubisoft hates you so much that it is willing to go through all this crap that is going to happen to them as a consequence rather than flip a single bit to allow you to play the game you already own.
Nah, the offline mode button does exist in the game but when you activate it - it doesn't do anything because there's no code for it, it was probably a leftover when they planned the game to be played offline but they took the always-online route instead
Game runs in the offline mode during this pre-timeskip tutorial section at the beginning. It is already in the game. The button to turn it on might not be functional even if uncovered. It doesn't help Ubisoft's case that the game is running some sort of modification-protection software that they refuse to disable, and instead they are revoking access to the download of the files for the owners of the game.
This is indeed worse than what happened to Driver San Francisco. I AM still playing that game now! My dad and I are already calling to arms to this movement. You really have inspired me Eden, I will do what I can to preserve and protect the things I love. You have done your part, now I will do mine. Godspeed
At least with Driver: San Francisco, you can still play it. The only reason why that game was delisted in the first place was because of vehicle licensing, not company greed and incompetence.
So sad that Ubisoft is doing this to Crew 1, especially since some of Ubisoft's games back in the day were pretty good. Never buying from them again until they change their practices. We have to show them that doing this is not OK.
Agreed, especially those PS2 era Prince of Persia games, Far Cry 3 and 4, Watchdogs, and many others I'm probably forgetting about. Definitely not buying anything else that comes out of them though.
Thank you for explaining this. "You bought the license so they can take it away" makes no sense if you own a physical copy, or if you actually read the EULA it doesn't exactly bring it up saying "by the way, we can take away full access from your game!" unless you're hacking or cheating, not just owning the damn game.
I bought The Crew 2 before buying Forza Horizon 5, played it for a while and got tired of it, Then I got Forza and I have 1000+ hours into the game, I thought I'd give the Crew series another chance and buy the Motorfest, but nope, Not buying anything from Ubi
Ubisoft put utterly garbage 'account needing' launchers for older single player games for which it was utterly irrelevant (other than for them to farm metrics no doubt). Avoided them hard ever since, lovely to see everyone else is catching up :)
This is why everyone should play strictly offline games Anytime anyone purchases online games, these companies will try to steal something from customers
I was thinking of buying The Crew Motorfest (and even BF 2042, because it was on sale), but this has just put me off entirely, if I can't play a game in 10 years time and beyond, I'm not buying it
From ubisoft i only bought ghost recon breakpoint when it was on sale for 70%, its live service and expecting its gonna have same treatment from the crew (2014) later
That is like buying a shirt and years later, the company that made the shirt decides that you can no longer wear that shirt even though you paid for it already.
The sad thing is that people will say oh me boycotting this game will make no impact and buy the game but that same line of thinking comes across 100 of thousands of other players thinking they're not gonna make a difference and still buy the game making these efforts useless
I was already not wanting to buy Motorfest because it was essentially just TC2 DLC, but this just convinced me that I'm never buying anything Ubisoft puts out ever again
@@CyanRooper but fellas! What if some guy in russia managed to do something with the pirated game files with their babushka's pc? Okay i'll stop day dreaming now. No hope, we're fucked raw no lube.
At least you can pirate current/future Assassin's Creed or Far Cry games Edit : Battlefield, Watch Dogs and well, any game from them that isn't online only, really.
Honestly, it's really sad that these companies are doing this shit. One of the reasons i'm looking more towards the indie side of the community (with games like ETS2, if you consider it indie, BeamNG, and hell, even OTXO). And, i can guarantee that if someone did this with other forms of media, people would go nuts. Imagine if from now on you can watch Pulp Fiction or Inglorious Basterds. If i had bought The Crew, i'd def do something about it. Anyways, thank you Eden for making actual arguments instead of just saying "Ubisoft can't do this, Ubisoft bad. (Wich would've been already true and enough lol)
I was streaming The Crew the last three months before the shutdown, trying to complete everything there was to the game. Playing it this long this consistently really left me wanting more. I was saying that if Ubisoft releases another good Racing Story Game akin to The Crew or Driver:SF, i'd happily buy that. The thing is that Ubisoft isn't even the same as that were 10years ago. Their Games have got worse, and they want more money for the actual crap they are releasing. It struck me that Ubisoft won't even make good games anymore, making this Boycott all the easier. These good games won't have good sequels, only more cashgrabs or that AAAA shit that nobody wants to play, and i will not support that either.
Ubisoft also ruined the game I used to play when I sat in middle school, Growtopia. Back when Seth & Hamumu were the main devs at Growtopia, it was a great adventure game, but once Ubisoft took it over, it turned to a garbage game.
Any big corporate takeover does that. EA killed tons of franchises of dev studios theey took over, for example. They have the people from the Burnout games working on their insipid Need For Speed games
@@Anthonybrotheranother one i would mention is pop cap (the studio behind plants vs zombies and peggle) i mean pvsz will probably still exist but dont think for long (EA also kinda killed peggle... pain)

I 100% agree. I am done with Ubisoft even though I love a number of their IP's. This most recent shenanigans has put the nail in the coffin for me and I won't be giving them another penny until they walk back these bullshit moves.
I feel sorry for Ivory Tower and all the people that worked on the game, that there work got completly removed and unable to play.(I know they are part of Ubisoft, but still i do not think any game creator wants their game gone forever) . They probably got forced by Ubisoft to not release the offline patch (at least I saw somewhere that there where an offline patch existing for the game in the files). Even if there would be a mod coming to replay the game, us console player are still screwed... I honestly hope Ubisoft will be put through court for that and all the other things they did. And that we hopefully at the end of all that be able to replay the fantastic story of the crew 1 offline. Live service game are just a bad thing especially if u have to pay for it
You brought up an important point: discs for online-only games on consoles are effectively paperweights if an offline patch isn't released for them when the servers get shut down. If the community somehow manages to revive The Crew 1 it'll be exclusively on PC while console players are left in the dust. It's just an all round terrible situation for everyone involved.
@@CyanRooper the best solution, would be just to release the offline patch for all, or even if a bad case, let us go to a shop and get refunded like honestly qe paid money for something that is now just a decoration in my shelf
If someone were to whip up a custom server, you should be able to trick the console into connecting to it by putting a Raspberry Pi or something between your console and the Internet. Just intercept the requests for the IP of Ubi's servers, and send back the info for the custom server. However, not being able to download the game in the first place may complicate things. I'll keep it installed on mine for now, in case.
The only reason Ubisoft would even think that they can get away with this is because they think gamers are too lazy to stand up to them, and sadly Ubisoft may have a point there. Game companies have been pulling crap like this and building up to it for the past 10 15 years and we as gamers keep telling them it's okay by giving them our money. I've been saying for years that if we want them to stop pulling this BS we need to start voting with our wallets and not buying their crap.
I spent SO MANY hours in this game. I genuinely LOVED The Crew 1. After I got all the cars I wanted and got them all to 1497 (max) performance . And then, as I think about reinstalling it as I got bored of The Crew 2 and it's horrid story and dialogue, I get hit with a "sucks to suck bozo, buy more shit"
It's fascinating seeing people "done" with Ubisoft in recent times, for me I completely cut them off after Assassins Creed 3. We tried Unity but couldn't get into it, the last Ubisoft game I actually bought was Rayman Origins on WiiU used
@@ChaseMC215not directly, but it will make ubisofts revenue go down. Basically boycotting without the nasty side effects of not being able to play the game.
People always have EA under fire for things like this. At least a lot of the time they provided patches. Ubisoft can't even stand to let us install the damn thing!
I own Titanfall 1 on disc for the Xbox 360 and I can't play that anymore because the online servers were turned-off about 4 years ago. But at least I have the disc so if the game is made playable again with online tunnelling software like X-Link Kai I can play it again. I'm not sure UbiSoft are allowed to delete game files from your PC unless you agree to it before an update download.
Anyone remembers Ghost Recon's timesavers? Microtransactions to skip gameplay roadblocks intentionally put in the game by the developers? I remember. Ubisoft has been doing this stuff for at least a decade.
And I thought Konami could be the worst, but... New meme of the decade. We've come from "Konami is Konami and Konami is the worst. Fuck Konami" We've come to "Ubisoft is Ubisoft and Ubisoft is even worse than Konami..." You can finish the rest.
The Crew 1: shuts down* Polyphony : release offline patch for GT Sport and GT7 will get the same treatment for it* Meanwhile NFS MW 2012 , Rivals and 2015 : I'm not dead yet!!!!
EA has done some questionable bs but as a community we managed to pull together and they have changed a lot of things for the better, with Ubi it seems like nothin is gaining traction nothing significant enough to where they are seemingly getting away with it with absolutley no repercussions
Regarding EA changing its practices due to popular pressure, in this case the media helped spread this information, especially at the time of Star Wars Battlefront 2 when even Disney had to intervene. But in the case of Ubisoft, even though the portals talk about things that are happening with The Crew 1, little is passed on. In my country there was no channel that talked about it and they don't seem to care because it is a "niche" game
@@luckaswolf fair point to say it is a niche game but in a sense of the practice as a whole i believe it holds enough merit to talk about because if it could be done by someone as big as Ubi with a niche game whats stoppin it from happin to more mainstream games down the road, i feel like it doesnt gain traction at the moment because i think a lot of people still think it isnt a big deal you know
Well said. Ubisoft are way out of order with this, I have The Crew on disk, with Calling All Units., my disks are now as worthless as ubisoft. Glad I never bought Motorfest, I did think though that it looked boring.
Too bad for Ubozosoft's ass, I have a copy of TC1 in one of my HDDs and i'll happily release it in the wild once the servers come back thanks to the community.
This is more of a side note, but on the topic of NFS World surviving its demise is, at least partly, due to two guys exploring how to get the game running again. One of them collected and saved scant data packets from when the original game was online. Working with these, they eventually managed to run an online 1 on 1 session, before dropping the project, which then got picked up by other community developers. There might be other ways to preserve a live service title outside of building from scratch, but it's not often you have someone with the knowledge or means to save games like that while it was still in service, so I think it was incredible World got that second chance and is still going strong today. On topic, though, fuck you, Ubisoft.
Last Ubisoft game I bought was Scott Pilgrim when they finally released it on PC. I was sick and tired of the Ubisoft formula after playing Far Cry 3, some Assassin's Creed game and The Crew. Boring open world, fog of war, go here to some tower to uncover the area, rinse and repeat. There games are some of the most boring games I have ever played. I only bought Scott Pilgrim cuz I've been asking for a PC release since the original release. F Ubisoft, and F every higher up at that sh** company.
Although I 100% agree, I was thinking of something; What if an online store closes? Technically isn't it like the same thing as you could no longer access the stuff you bought on it? What I mean to say it's that it's not only a Ubisoft problem, this could happen with every developer although much more rarely, in fact if I remember correctly the PlayStation 3 store is still alive, but it could happen, and then.... What? I'm not saying that I'm justifying their actions as it's even their own store and it's clear that they're trying to stop modding and patching (as it's 100% sure that the community would make a better work than them, not that it's hard being better), I just wanted to say my thoughts
You can't force a store to stay open, but that store cannot steal back the products it sold to it's customers. If you backed up your digital products on your own then they should still work.
@@Ryzza5 Just to be sure that I've understood it, what you said is basically that if you make sure that you have the game installed before the store closes it will remain there, I guess it makes sense, thanks for the clarification mate
@@nyanv4n1ll4_4 yes, and don't forget the Ubisoft store is still open, they've just designed a product that can only function if they permit it. A rental disguised as a purchase.
@@poached_egg_on_carsThat was because EA never released a game like NFS World ever again. They didn't care that people revived NFS World because it was never going to compete with their new products. Ubisoft will most likely sue anybody that tries to revive The Crew 1 because it would compete with their newer Crew games (why buy a new Crew game for 70 to 100 bucks when you can get a pirated copy of The Crew 1 with none of the microtransactions, all of the cars plus new cars added in by the community).
I never cared enough about The Crew to bother myself with this topic. I'm just glad I'm sticking with NFS. I won't be surprised if a group of people migrates from The Crew community to join Need For Speed.
I'm just kinda glad EA actually course corrected the NFS series starting from 2015, it's not perfect don't get me wrong, but seeing how The Crew went from cross country street racing to TC2 & Motorfest pretty much copying everything from Forza Horizon down to the XYZ with this whole "happy yay yay" festival vibe just irks me though it's not without EA taking several steps back, like how 2015 needs you to be connected to even boot up the game, Payback slot card upgrade system, Heat's complete lack of post launch content, & Unbound cartoon effects pisses the fanbase like Ace Combat fans despise the living schisse out of Assault Horizon with it's "dogfight mechanic"

Is that actually malicious or simply IP law being in effect? If he were the actual 'owner' of whatever 'Classic Tales' were, his passing may have dictated that his estate retained ownership but had no prior clause to remain in license to Namco, forcing them to de-list the titles. This is all hypothetical and I have no knowledge whatsoever of how IP law is structured in Japan.
@alexsaffamerica because u idiots stop caring about that IP at all. The only blame is yourselves there no more, no less just like the dead medal of honor & deux ex communities that are long gone nowadays
This is exactly why I stopped playing tc2 and also didn't buy tc motorfest. The Crew 1 was one of my go to games to enjoy cars and driving long distances without getting bored, I also enjoyed the story.
I mean, it would make sense, considering their actions are actually illegal in France. Before they defused the situation, they had plans to delete Ubisoft Connect accounts if they haven't been logged in for a while, which is illegal. They defused the situation saying that any accounts that have games tied to them won't be deleted.
This is why Always Online has always been crap. Now they have the power to just cut you off. The snook it in there little by little with this whole control crap online and people lapped it up like it was "ok"... Basically you "rent" a game for 80$ and without you knowing what you did and then pull the plug and they say "sorry" and you just lost 80$..
They took my money for the Crew less than 8mths ago. I only played 2hrs. Im done with Ubisoft. I was going to buy Crew Motorfest but now cancelled plans. Im so angry that i saw a sale of Anno game products on sale, was about to purchase and saw Ubisoft as developer and changed mind altogether!
@@Frapskillar. They removed it from online marketplaces along with its DLC. Granted, you can still play it, but it's far less accessible than it used to be. Honestly, that alone wouldn't be an issue, but they then replaced it with Rocksmith+, which works on a subscription basis that constantly gets price-hiked, and many fans of the old game still don't like the interface or the (lack of good) features.
I can understand your point and I agree with it but piracy is the only way to save the game and preservation of all digital games and morally okay for most people. Despite I've played the old Ubisoft games a long time ago, I'm done with the company.
With the fact that almost all cars from The Crew 2 are in Motorfest, I give like 2 years max to The Crew 2 before shutting down as well because "tHeRe'S tHe SaMe CoNtEnT oN oUr NeW gAmE pLeAsE bUy"
When the car licenses expire, Ubisoft will certainly do the same thing with The Crew 2 and Motorfest, which I wouldn't have cared if not for the bullshit always online requirement to play.
its in the eula, however, they don't make you sign the eula before purchase, online or on a physical copy shop. Plus at the time games being pulled from libraries without warning was unheard of so the user isn't expecting such a thing for a 20 page document. So they pull the rug under you without warning. Shouldn't that just make the EULAs void?
I don't remember when but at some point I received a free copy of The Crew so right now I'm waiting the 14 days with no answer from their support. You're right about piracy. It's only a little patch, a way for us to say "we need/want this". We can make the same reasoning with movies and every other art, with old media not being available anymore because there is no to little interest in it.
I hate the situation with Ubisoft but I love this video. I fucking hate how shitty consumer protections in the US made everyone just think EULAs matter for shit in the EU, for example. They don't. Not even a little bit.
Well said. Personally I'm not going to buy or play any game of Ubisoft ever again. Not even the Assassins Creed franchise. What would be the point if they can take it away any given moment? There is plenty of other games from other game studios. Any game that game studio kills or rather _abandons_ in this way should be considered _abandonware_ in law and as such should be free for grabs as soon as the gaming studio abandons it. Freeing the intellectual property rights immediately.
I never cared much about The Crew tbh, it did not interest me even after Wild Run or Calling All Units came out. I just didn’t like the game. But this shit still concerns me, what if it does happen to a game I do like. Futureproofing is the biggest problem for titles using always online DRM. Honestly something has to be done, while TC2 and Motorfest seem to look better this just leaves me put off from buying em.
I've always wanted a sequel to Driver San Francisco, but Ubisoft would probably fuck it up and make it online only, so I think I'm good with San Francisco being the last Driver game.
Consider boycotting Ubisoft? Y’all, I just straight up have never been interested in any modern Ubisoft games. The last game that they made that was actually worth playing was Starlink: Battle for Atlas. Boycotting Ubisoft is basically just my gaming lifestyle already. The only modern Ubisoft game I got was The Crew Motorfest, and I uninstalled that to make room on my Xbox for Forza Motorsport 8 because I didn’t have a storage expansion at the time, and I do not miss it one bit
It's unbelievable how Ubisoft manages to disappoint The Crew theme again and again. Unfortunately I only see the video now after 3 days but I just saved my downloaded version from my PC. Luckily I downloaded the game 2 weeks ago because I wanted to see it for myself. Like many others I have the game with all the DLC's as I bought the Ultimate version as a physical CD. I really hope that: 1. we really turn off the tap on Ubisoft 2. we get the patch done despite all the hurdles. 3. put a stop to the games industry seeing games as a temporary license that they can simply take away from us. 4. Fuck Ubisoft.
I regret having bought Motorfest when it came out. But I won't spend money on crew credits, year passes or else. And I won't buy any other game from Ubisoft. They don't deserve my money.
Yeah, in my opinion when you buy games it means you own them, when ubisoft says "you buy games you don't own them" its equivalent of "i am going to steal your money"
The one thing i disagree with here is that piracy wouldn't fix part of the issue. If the drm of the game had ever been broken and there was a way to pirate it, opening up the offline mode that is quite literally in the game files would've been possible. But the way it is now we wont be seeing things like an offline patch because the game is basically a black box. All kind of offline "patches" we'll see, will be a separate application that emulates the functions of the crews servers. At least until someone that can crack the drm comes along and does it. To my knowledge theres only a few people are capable of doing that tho.
tbh im gonna agree and boycott Ubisoft aswell since they have really gone to far with this stuff. like really and i also feel concerned for my friend who plays the division knowing if those servers shut down and ubisoft takes the game away from him i would be pretty pissed off since he grinded alot in that game
Apologies for the editing mistake at 2:01 I edited this at 2AM last night and just wanted to be done with it 🫠

I don’t care for the company since haven’t made anew splinter cell game. It all about online game

They were revived between parts, as the same group was making it for PC and PS3. It took a while but it came out for the PC version while the PS3 version 3 years ago they say they will bring new features soon....

Pretty much like what happened 2/3 years ago we discovered post facto, political and authoritarian shambles.
That's why it's good to remind people that it's not because it's written on a piece of paper that it's legal.
Well, it's also in the EU Consumer Protection rules that what you buy is what you own, especially years ago when The Crew 1 just launched. Guess what have more weight in the EU?
What a novel concept you mean the constitution isn't real?...lol
EULA's can't overwrite laws or consumer protection policies. Its one thing for company to say they have the right to take away your product for any reason. Its another when they actually follow through.
Not even EA has managed to piss me off recently as much as Ubisoft is doing
It releases horrifying games created without no heart and passion, it has questionable policies, a work environment that destroys those who work there, it has the nerve to leave decades-old franchises behind that deserve to return (like Beyond 2 which we still know nothing about!), and now it also takes away games that we paid for with our own money.
Sent the same message to Uni myself
‘Well done on stripping EA of the title ‘Gamings Biggest Cunts’. I thought they had forever but you smashed it. Well done you”
Disappointingly, they never responded 🤷🏻♂️
I give EA a small degree of credit for not issuing cease and desist letters to the NFS World community servers... at least I hope it doesn't come to that in the near future.

The EULA is useless here, and I appreciate that a few people addressed the whole Abusive Clause case.

Straight up never buying any Ubisoft game I can't play offline ever again after this, let alone The Crew. This is actually insane.
Thank you for explaining this. "You bought the license so they can take it away" makes no sense if you own a physical copy, or if you actually read the EULA it doesn't exactly bring it up saying "by the way, we can take away full access from your game!" unless you're hacking or cheating, not just owning the damn game.
It… literally does. It says online is best effort and can be discontinued at any time.
I bought The Crew 2 before buying Forza Horizon 5, played it for a while and got tired of it, Then I got Forza and I have 1000+ hours into the game, I thought I'd give the Crew series another chance and buy the Motorfest, but nope, Not buying anything from Ubi
That first frame of the video perfectly describes how I feel about Ubisoft.
Ubisoft put utterly garbage 'account needing' launchers for older single player games for which it was utterly irrelevant (other than for them to farm metrics no doubt). Avoided them hard ever since, lovely to see everyone else is catching up :)
This is why everyone should play strictly offline games
Anytime anyone purchases online games, these companies will try to steal something from customers
I was thinking of buying The Crew Motorfest (and even BF 2042, because it was on sale), but this has just put me off entirely, if I can't play a game in 10 years time and beyond, I'm not buying it

Crew 2 and motorfest is worse in various ways actually
From ubisoft i only bought ghost recon breakpoint when it was on sale for 70%, its live service and expecting its gonna have same treatment from the crew (2014) later
That is like buying a shirt and years later, the company that made the shirt decides that you can no longer wear that shirt even though you paid for it already.
Nah, more like the company steals the shirt out of your closet and feeds it to a wood chipper.
The sad thing is that people will say oh me boycotting this game will make no impact and buy the game but that same line of thinking comes across 100 of thousands of other players thinking they're not gonna make a difference and still buy the game making these efforts useless
Imagine Ubisoft having some poor representative say the equivalent of "Surprise Mechanics"
They already have the quote “People should feel confortable not owning their games”.
They do! They call them "NFTs".

You brought up an important point: discs for online-only games on consoles are effectively paperweights if an offline patch isn't released for them when the servers get shut down.

This is exactly why I stopped playing tc2 and also didn't buy tc motorfest. The Crew 1 was one of my go to games to enjoy cars and driving long distances without getting bored, I also enjoyed the story.
I think somebody sued ubisoft in France (where they're based in)
I mean, it would make sense, considering their actions are actually illegal in France.
Basically you "rent" a game for 80$ and without you knowing what you did and then pull the plug and they say "sorry" and you just lost 80$..
that's why I'm not playing online multiplayer games
Could not agree more. I’m a collector and casually play hundreds of titles. I’m done until they make this situation right.
thats why i dont buy digital games anymore guys ;)
Important video. Keep covering the issue!
Its official. Ubisoft is worse than EA now.
First Rocksmith 2014, now The Crew. Honestly don't know how anyone could put up with Ubisoft at this point.
What did they do with Rocksmith 2014?
@@Frapskillar.
They removed it from online marketplaces along with its DLC. Granted, you can still play it, but it's far less accessible than it used to be.
Honestly, that alone wouldn't be an issue, but they then replaced it with Rocksmith+, which works on a subscription basis that constantly gets price-hiked, and many fans of the old game still don't like the interface or the (lack of good) features.
Yeah, that’s how licensing works. Congrats on your basic understanding of life.
I can understand your point and I agree with it but piracy is the only way to save the game and preservation of all digital games and morally okay for most people. Despite I've played the old Ubisoft games a long time ago, I'm done with the company.
If this happens to The Crew 2 in a few years, I'm done with Ubisoft.
My guy, it's gonna happen.
Ubi won't learn so it will happen. Enjoy it while you can
With the fact that almost all cars from The Crew 2 are in Motorfest, I give like 2 years max to The Crew 2 before shutting down as well because "tHeRe'S tHe SaMe CoNtEnT oN oUr NeW gAmE pLeAsE bUy"
When the car licenses expire, Ubisoft will certainly do the same thing with The Crew 2 and Motorfest, which I wouldn't have cared if not for the bullshit always online requirement to play.
You already know it's gonna happen
its in the eula, however, they don't make you sign the eula before purchase, online or on a physical copy shop. Plus at the time games being pulled from libraries without warning was unheard of so the user isn't expecting such a thing for a 20 page document. So they pull the rug under you without warning. Shouldn't that just make the EULAs void?
I feel that game preservation is important. Wether you like the game or not, its part of gaming history.
Meaningless post is meaningless. Your desire to archive something you don’t own has been recorded and discarded.
remember guys, if pirating isn't pirating, then isn't isn't buying
Eula agreements dont override Laws
Correct, but what law *specifically* was overridden?
Let me guess: a vague ‘consumer rights!!!!! REEEEEE!!!!!!!!’ Law? That doesn’t exist?
I don't remember when but at some point I received a free copy of The Crew so right now I'm waiting the 14 days with no answer from their support.
You're right about piracy. It's only a little patch, a way for us to say "we need/want this". We can make the same reasoning with movies and every other art, with old media not being available anymore because there is no to little interest in it.
Ubisoft and EA are legit fighting to see who can be the worst gaming company in history
Konami and Activision-Blizzard as well
Sega too
I hate the situation with Ubisoft but I love this video.
I've always wanted a sequel to Driver San Francisco, but Ubisoft would probably fuck it up and make it online only, so I think I'm good with San Francisco being the last Driver game.
it was the same with the original overwatch, i bought a physical copy of the game when it came out for ps4 & now i have a paperweight
This is the beginning of irl cyberpunk only without the badass prosthetic body parts
Yeah, but they told everybody they were going to take the game down
I wish there was a PS5 Emulator.
If only PS4 and PS5 games could be pirated.
Meanwhile, Polyphony took the time to update GT Sport so it can be played offline.
I really hope that:
1. we really turn off the tap on Ubisoft
2. we get the patch done despite all the hurdles.
3. put a stop to the games industry seeing games as a temporary license that they can simply take away from us.
After The Crew debacle, I am done with them for good.
