Yes you can slice bigger canes and then feed them through. However, I would only recommend this manual one if you are only pressing a few canes, not commercially, as it is hard work.
The wheel the handle is attached to has a groove which will allow you to attach a belt which you can then attach to a motor. You will definitely need the splash guard.
My great grandmother had a syrup house in her farm, and that included a large press with a crossbeam that originally would have hooked to a mule to turn, but by the time I was born, we hitched the crosspiece to a small tractor that ran in a circle.
@@tropical-fruit-Florida That handcrank looks like it's also a flywheel that would accept a properly sized belt. Hook it up to a small motor probably. Just a guess.
We bought ours off EBay or Amazon. The design has changed www.amazon.com/TryE-Sugarcane-Machine-Extractor-Squeezer/dp/B07MNSSFW3/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?crid=302JZLFG90LXE&keywords=sugarcane+juice+machine&qid=1673351051&sprefix=sugarca%2Caps%2C239&sr=8-7
Did you try trimming the edge to get the bigger cane started to see if it would press it. Just curious because I was looking to buy one myself.

I wish I had one of those to power my sugarcane press.
