  • It was a dream come true to talk with master bassist & composer ‪@johnpatitucciofficial‬ Easy going, inspiring and deep! Plus he played lots of bass, some piano and we went through several of his compositions- as you know, I always hope for these things to happen and John was totally open for it. I think we cover a lot of ground in this conversation, where John generously shares his experiences and insights from his exciting life in music and I'm in total fan-boy mode.
    A little side note- of course it’s evident that John is an absolute pro in music, but he was also so well prepared for this interview: he had good mics set up for his voice AND his bass and he came in early (15 minutes before our scheduled time) two make sure everything worked. Can’t ask for more!

    Must have rewatched it like 5 times. Would be great if you could get John on again in the near future. Also, very well conducted interview. You give him room to breathe and you ask questions that actual musicians would like to know. Top notch

    John is so very generous with his time, continuing a conversation after he's already stated he must go. I will always remember meeting him once after a CCEB Eye of the Beholder era show; such a personable talent who never made me feel beneath him. I feel richer hearing him expand on his theories and playing styles. You were a very considerate interviewer.

    Unbelievable interview. So many nuggets to take away from this one. One remark: john’s piano seems to be tuned to 420 Hz, or something did happen to the audio maybe? Thank you Pablo for this outstanding interview!

      Hey Julian, ja seltsamerweise macht Zoom diese De-Tuning manchmal im Nachhinein. Als wir gesprochen haben war es in der richtigen Tonart... Ich werd's nächstes Mal checken bevor wir's veröffentlichen.

    John is the bass player that makes me realized there is more to a bass player , the music and the choice of notes and I got to see this musician with magical hands live playing beside the legend Chic Corea RIP… I have fused their playing in my music vocabulary I stole a lot from them lol…

    Why john tuned his bass a minor second up?

    • @PabloHeldmusic
      @PabloHeldmusic  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Somehow that happened through zoom… I think John’s bass was in the right pitch and I heard it in the right pitch when we talked… and then when zoom exported the video something happened to it. Very mysterious

    Yet another good interview, but it’s somehow a semitone low. When John gives the examples in C major it comes out in B major. I don’t know how that happened and takes nothing from the interview, but the musical examples a therefor a bit hard to follow/transcribe. Thanx again for your great work Pablo.

    • @PabloHeldmusic
      @PabloHeldmusic  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Søren! Yeah, that is quite strange. I’ve heard that this sometimes happens with zoom. I think it was definitely in the right key when we talked… hmmm. I’ll check next time!

    Thank you for this interview and deep gratitude for Mr. Pattituci's generosity, even showing us his work in progress (and that the maestro himself can struggle with a difficult piece, and that this is what you need to do to continue to develop as a musician!). Fantastic conversation.
