Have both and it’s a very different feel on foot. Both are plush but 1080 is far softer. Basically if you like a firm shoe, you’ll probably like the 880 better.
"mid cushion" five years ago it would have been considered a super maximalist to the max turned up to 11 shoe. Stack height gimmick is out of control. New Balance has lost the plot. I've tried all their top end shoes for the last few generations, and they aren't great and imo trending down. The instability of the 1080v13. The tapered toebox and lack of flexibility on the v14. They're so obsessed with adding stack to every new model they released a 1080 that's no longer flexible. First time for everything I guess. More v4 was really good, especially for high volume people. More v5, added 10 mm of stack front and back and removed about 10 mm of space from inside the shoe. It fits tight on people with low volume. Crazy stuff. I'm legit scared for how they're going to ruin the Rebel next. I'm going to have buy several of the v4 in bulk before it's gone for good. Why do we need 45 mm stack heights with marshmellow soft foam? Seems like a bad combo to me. High stack + super soft = unstable or you have to make it super bulky to give some stability. IMO they should focus on the basics again. Starting with making shoes that fit human feet properly. Maybe improve the quality of their uppers which are lagging even small companies at this point. The balos was such a flop they removed it from their site and sent it to the outlet. Sad. That was another shoe with tons of potential but didn't fit right either. So many newer NB models you have to literally remove the insole to get it on your foot comfortably. It's hard to understand how a brand long known for being high volume friendly is suddenly making the tightest fitting shoes on the market.
Intriguing shoe for the price. How does it feel compared to Novablast 5? I feel like that shoe will be pretty hard to beat this year at the 140 dollar price point.
The best 880 so far! I just picked it up and I'm surprised how much I like it. Feels like a better Ghost Max 2 to me.
how is the sizing compared to each other?
Hi. Well done, Steve. Like from Spain( Europe). Have a good day.
Thanks Manuel!
V15 is not yet available in my country. Might rebuy the V14
What’s the difference between the 1080 and 880 now that they’re both 40mm in the heel?
I'd like to know this one too but I think 1080 is their premium daily trainer this one is more budget friendly

Like Charles said. The 880 is usually a different blend of Fresh Foam X midsole and tends to be firmer than the 1080 or More models
@@RunMooreIs it a significant difference? I think it's more on the preference and the budget coz they both do the same thing.
do you know when the new 860 will be released?
I do not have knowledge of a new 860 coming out in 2025. I can't confirm on anything for 2026 yet.

I think its a pinch narrower than the Novablast 5 and a little less pop as well. The Novablast 5 is a hard shoe to beat I agree with you there!
The Americans are masters. 🇺🇸
