As far as I know, you probably deserve a noble peace prize for your amazing work in permaculture.

Interesting idea. If there was high nutrient, inexpensive food everywhere, it would probably reduce tensions everywhere!

G'Day Geoff... wonderful journey. I have followed the work you started in Palestine and look back at what Bill Molison had taught. Wonderful examples of what can (and must) be done. Seems you are on the Northern Rivers... I came from Bellingen and uncles farmed the Kalang River flats up Thora way and another up in Dorrigo. Fond memories! I guess you are neighbors with David Troon (Weedy); Daley's Nursery (Pauline. Erin, Caleb and Team) and also Cedar Anderson and his Dad... I hope to be back in November and visit friends in Lennox Head... hope to do the circuit and visit all... have some bush tea with you all. Looking forward to seeing the growth... Cheers, John (misplaced Aussie in SoCal)

I have thought of bamboo island contained by rocks and trench ponds to privacy screen a soggy lower area. A distance from a boundary valley stream.

The smalls ponds are really interesting. I've been thinking of adding a small pond in my small permaculture/food forest. I also have sandy soil, but I am planning on using a liner. I'm a huge fan. I decided on turning my 1/3 acre yard, years ago after watching an online course Geoff posted online. There quite a few videos. I watched them all in a row and did not sleep for the 3 days it took me. I'm strange don't need much sleep, only took breaks to eat. Still continue with the improvements although I am now 75, a little old lady that can still do it! LOL

After digging numerous swales and planting out my own food forest (by hand), only to have it burn to the ground along with my house in Nov 19, I am now digging and planting all over again, using all that I have learned from both Bill Mollison and yourself. I find so much inspiration seeing how you have developed your piece of paradise ~ often you remind me of things I have forgotten to remember: ideas I have had, plans I've made. I am so grateful for the information that you share, and for your presence on the planet ~ Sending a huge Thank You!

Absolutely stunning! Love the shareholder idea so there is a clear path of legacy and care for Zaytuna. You and the team are making such an important impact on people's lives all over the globe showing a glimpse of what is possible. Telling us how to seal a dam in original sandy soil was great. Love the Morton Bay Fig tree. I view them as communication power nodes. If one is feeling disconnected just sitting on their roots trends to sort life out in a powerful gentle way.

Absolutely love youre acheivments, is the idea of share holders,to make sure farm lasts in perpituity,or to get like minded community,to carry on work.
In the light of this Global Warming sudden realization, although you and Bill Mollison, etc have been trying to educated Goverments all over the world, has any Country asked you to make massive plan, for them to become regenerative, build water structures food forests etc.
No matter they pulled funding, the Greening the desert project is a phenominal scucess, that the fund providers can not deny.
I wish every Country appointed a Geoff Lawton full time to rectify as much as possible in a lifetime, with unlimited budget, then we would actually see change.
It seems Goverments are more intrested in promoting conflicte all over the world instead.

Very interested to learn more on the new shareholders, was it through subdivision of the property / farm or is it business agreements that they can have a home at the farm but overall all the land remains Zaytuna Farm?

Thank you for the tour, Geoff. It was nice to see the layout and hear of some projects and future plans. I did enjoy this tour type video. It is very interesting. Do you have plans to return to Jordan anytime soon for video updates on greening the desert? I really enjoyed the video of that Palestinian woman whose home and garden looked over to Palestine. She was inspirational. By the way, have you ever checked out the Bealtaine Cottage youtube channel? She also has a permaculture small holding but she lives in Ireland. Her name is Colette. You may really enjoy her garden and food forest tours. Best wishes for you and the family at Zaytuna Farm.

My impression of the beauty of your site(s) is that they continue to evolve over time. They get more complex. More diverse. More interesting. Thank you for sharing.
I would be super overwhelmed if I had to design all of that at the outset. But knowing that you can "frame in" the earthworks over time, and continue to add on makes it more possible in my head.

I am betting less then 10% of those who watch this will really understand it in full. Followed and worked with you for more than a decade and this is one of the most masterful designs I have ever seen.
I realize the above reference of 10% could sound arrogant but I don't mean it that way. I am not sure I fully understand it. I am not talking the function or the physical layout. I am referring to the stacking in time. The net added impact this design will have for over a thousand years. What does the stacking in time look like across 1,000 years? If you didn't even think about that while watching this video, go watch it again and you will see what I mean.

Wonderful tour. Very inspiring. To see how water can be made to walk not run. I especially like the fact you put your dairy cows onto the swale. That is so good to know.
Is it possible to have a video on your routine with your dairy and how it all fits in to the permaculture system. Do you keep them consistently close to the dairy where you may bring food to them or do you have them on rotation with laneways to walk back to dairy for milking?
I would be most interested in how the dairy fits in with the whole system.
Thankyou for making this video so early in the morning too. Much appreciated.

Geoff or whoever handles your media I have a question. I see how the class I am currently in is awesome by the way. It follows the PDM almost explicitly. My question is should I read the book first then listen to that section of the class. I just picked up a scoop for my tractor (I'm fairly disabled in my back and legs for normal work) so the tractor is a godsend for that reason, I want to make about 500 miles of swales on my 11 acres now (zone 6a Just south of Kansas city Missouri) lol. But really wondered how it works for the ones fortunate enough to attend the 50 hours of class in person. I am doing the class online that you and Bill lectured in. Thanks for any answers. Any videos that show how to get a drain installed into a current pond for use on the property? I had another question but it may be too expensive. Has anyone looked at using solar to route some of the water that flows to the bottom of the property back up to the top of the property using a solar pump? I have a background in electricity and electrical pumps ect and I just want to make a really deep sump at the bottom of my property and route all that water back to the top or back to the pond. lol. anyways thanks again.

That was a thorough tour providing valuable information. Thank you very much Geoff. Have you considered having a drone video produced to show a ‘birds-eye perspective of your property.

I hope I get the chance to do even a fraction of these amazing things on my own piece of land one day. Would be even better to have friends and family to share it all with.

Hi! We translate into Russian and voice videos about permaculture. Can we translate and publish some of your videos on our channel?

I remember an earlier video giving the impression that the land was farmland without saturation. Not arid but fairly dry grass. Now it looks like you have wetlands. Expecting to see long legged birds looking for worms haha.

Hey Geoff! Can permaculture practices be used to manage cane toads? Also if possible, could you talk about managing flying foxes?
    Many thanks!
    Michael.

First ask if they need managing? Perhaps the humans need a bit of harvest sharing management skills like planting some stuff for the flying foxes and not parking under their resting trees. Tell us how you go and what you come up with.
