I've been searching for a fitness tracker, NOT a smart watch, to replace ancient Fitbits for three people in our household, because it's time, and Fitbit has been harping so much on their premium subscription service - which annoys me. We have no Apple devices, so that's not relevant for us. We're retired - we don't really care about phone calls, text, or notifications on a fitness tracker. We have cell phones if we really want that. Battery life, readable displays, ease of use, reliability - now you're talking!

I'm still choosing between the amazfit gts 4 mini and the amazfit gts 3, which one would you guys say is the better option? My husband has the T-Rex model and loves it. I currently have an iwatch and the battery life (the watch goes dead around 3pm every day) is driving me crazy, so I just ordered this mini. I currently don’t use all the bells and whistles on my iwatch. I just want the time, my texts and my workout information. I’ll give an update once I’ve had the mini for a few months. Sounds like it will be a great fit - the features that you need + the awesome battery life.
been using the gts4mini for half a year now. replace the band with a fabric based one, it'd be much lighter and you'd probably not even notice it on your wrist. nothing more i could ask for from a watch. an audio feedback device(speaker or tweeter) would be great for alarms, but it's fine i guess

I’ve been using it for more than a month now and I like it. The only issue I have is the battery life when I turned on the always on display. I used to wear their first gen bip and the battery lasted more than 2 months even with AOD turned on. Other than that, it’s really fun to use. Just wished that it could work the same with iOS devices like how it is on Android
How long would you say it last with always on display
@@SurealG I didn't connect it to my phone via bluetooth since my main phone is an iphone (second phone is xiaomi which i seldom bring out). It lasted about 5 days with heartbeat monitoring on every 30mins. Maybe i'll do one test without AOD on.

Nah, Bip 1 uses transflective display and the technology allows it to be much more battery friendly. I also miss more models with transflective displays.
@@TechMishka that's true. I wish someone would create a longer lasting OLED display for AOD or maybe a multilayer combination of TFT and OLED so that it can save battery life.

Throughout the entire video, it seems as if the screen has some delay.
I would like to know if this is the case with the watch(because it would seem annoying if the delay is noticeable) or if it's just because of the video quality or something.
The Lite is slower than the non-lite. So yeah - it is not super snappy, but smooth enough.
I have had this watch since November 2022 because I got a pixel 7 pro and ditched apple ..so my apple watch was not working with the pixel. After using it for over a month I can honestly say that this watch is way lighter than the apple one and lasts me the whole week before recharging, the free watch faces are great, always have the screen on, the pedometer is on point (after I took the plastics on the back lol they where so invisible to my bad eyes I did not notice it had two things to peel off), the screen is nice to look at and the best thing is the price !! It has its own alarm sets no phone is required, Alexa works great, and the list can go on and on . The only thing it does not have is a mic to answer calls but ..I did that so rarely on apple ..and I think I looked stupid talking to my watch lol .. kind of like the people who air all conversations on phones in public ...lol ...I love the watch .. My mom got the one lower than this ..was like 60 dollars..and she loves it ..I got the GTS with a discount of 20 dollars so it was about 100 after taxes. Never going back to apple now! Apple watches are so heavy now to use ..this one is way lighter ...and last longer. I did put the heart monitor every 5 minutes ( If you don't have a heart condition and not working out, y who needs tracking their heart every second lol ) Great watch ..just need to mess with it ..and please don't use an apple phone with this one.

How is the sleep tracker on this watch?
I have an olllllld bip lite (which still works). One issue I don't like: when I receive a text message that is long (more than 2 phone screens Worth) I lose the end of the message. Aka, It appears to cap at 2 screens worth of text. Is this the case with the GTS4 lite, or can I receive a super long text in its entirety? Much appreciated!

my bip3 pro doesn't track total cals for the day or at least not as simplified as most watches. Does this show the total cals including resting consumption combined?
I don't think the calories counter on this one is good.
Is there a watch that alerts you when your heart bpm goes above a certain number of your choosing? Does this watch have that capability? Thank you. I am looking for a device that can serve as a reminder that my hear rate is increasing. Even at 130/80 i would like it to go off. Thank you
Most watches can warn you about this - there is a trigger about this in the HR configuration inside the Zepp app
@@TechMishka ended up picking up the watch. I like it but sadly warns you when you've been above the selected heart rate bpm for ten minutes. I think the watch can still help me I like some of the apps on it and I can still monitor my bpm. It seems like it's probably pretty accurate so far. I'm not sure if I'll find that functionality I'm looking for and device around this price range or not
I mean to say it only lets you know after 10 minutes which I was hoping for the time to be selectable. It's to help let me know that I'm going into a panic attack.
130/80 is a blood pressure, not a heart rate. Which one do you want monitored?
My biggest issue with it is it gives me an alarm pre-notification. I don't need an alarm for an alarm. that's what I set the alarm for. How do you disable that option??
This is weird - didn't notice it on mine. Could it be that you use the smart alarm function? If so - disable it

I have the GTS 2 mini, and anyone who sees it always asks - is that an apple watch [and I usually tell them yes 😂].

I got the watch primarily because my eyesight is getting worse, and hence I wanted a device with a big screen so that I could still see the time if I didn´t have my glasses with me.
ONE of the watch face options is perfect for that purpose [it is a bit disappointing that many apps etc. on the watch use a very small sized font - e.g. the stop watch app - and there is no way to change that - hence, yes I can see the time without my glasses, but cannot really use the stopwatch app etc. ☹].

Generally I don´t have the watch connected by Bluetooth to my phone - because I prefer to have maximum battery life on my phone and watch.
Also, I bought the device to have a watch - not to have alerts / notifications etc. etc.
However, I have used the alerts / notifications feature and actually it was very useful.
You don´t really need to have it all the time - though it is always useful.
But I would tend to only use it when e.g. I am out at a party or am expecting a message that I don´t want to miss.
For those scenarios the notifications on the watch are great because you can just quickly look at your watch and see / read the notification and then dismiss it.
It is quick and means that you don´t need to take your phone out of your pocket.

Also, the sleep tracking by the watch was very interesting and useful.
Not sure if it is 100% accurate, but still it gives enough information to notice certain things / patterns.

Looks like the GTS 4 mini is a bit nicer than the GTS 2 mini - in that it has a slightly larger screen.
But it is not that much different otherwise.

One thing that I wish these speakerless watches had - would be a simple "beep" style speaker.
You know, the type like any 80´s or 90´s digital watch had.
An internal speaker for music might be nice, but why not just fit a simple "beep" style speaker for optional use as an alarm?
It would also be useful when using the stopwatch, and useful for notifications too.
I guess such a feature does not exist because there isn´t enough space for it.
But I can´t imagine that it would be an expensive addition, and it is a feature from a wristwatch that I miss.

Oh, the only other issue [apart from not even a basic speaker and no way to change stopwatch font size] is that the watch DOES NOT autodetect if you are doing exercise.
I was fairly surprised about that, but yeah - you have to activate - tell it you are doing sport, which is a pain really.

Happy 2023. Good review. Have you compared the sleep tracking with the Apple Watch? There is a TH-camr from Austria, a scientist who compared the sleep tracking in many smartwatches. The Apple Watch I remember was good. Many cheaper brands were all over the place.
I have some amazfit bip s. I like the always on display. But the app experience was not good. I got locked out of my account, I had to create a new one, I lost all the data. The account issues were confusing, but it was at the time when they switched app or something.
Customer service did not seem helpful or competent.
When I go running I hold my Android phone anyway, for sleep tracking I use a google speaker with display. I will try my Bip again. But anyway I started wearing analog watches again anyway. So wearing also a smartwatch on the other wrist would look funny.

Hey Stefano - you raise some really awesome points as usual.
Well - I have quite a regular sleeping habit, so it is easy for me to track sleep accuracy. We also now have a baby, which wakes up at night, so I can also notice whether devices detect that or not. In that regard - GTS4 Mini is quite alright. I haven't tested Apple watch myself - but from what I see based on my wife's sleeping cycles - it is very very accurate (and definitely more accurate than the GTS4 Mini)

Hey Yaser, very good question. I was looking for ways to buy the Realme Watch 3 Pro, but still unavailable here.
If you need accuracy - better think of the non-mini model - you can eventually connect an external HR chest tracker.

Cool little watch, I was torn between this model and the GTS 3 last month. I went with the older 3 cause its bigger and I found it in gold color. Thie 3 is more expensive but this one is actually better in term of the money you spend vs the features you get. Thanks for the video.

@@NenadNemecNMC for me the 3 was better for build quality, have it for about a year and it held up great.
Brought it instead of the 4 because it has the rotating wheel that helps you navigate around the watch menus and it's bigger.
As a downside, Amazfit doesn't update it at all, had only one update when I unboxed it last fall and none since, but I don't care about it.
Oh and the bluetooth cant be turned off (you can technically turn it off by activating the battery saver but that turns off other features like say the vibrations of its alarm, and if you're like me and don't live alone, a alarm that vibrates on your wrist is really useful for not disturbing your spouse in the morning)
Overall I enjoy mine, it was cheap enough that I could justify its purchase, even more cheap now...many people ask me if its a apple watch and its a great way to start a small conversation if you're waiting in line at the store.
The exercise detection works well when I go for a walk or use the ergonomic bike.
That's all I use it for honestly

It has some more features but - if you are happy with the 2, you won't get many more new features with the 4 Mini.
I am trying to decide between the 2 and 4 as well. I currently use a Fitbit, mostly just for tracking steps, sleep and as a watch. I need easy hands-free access to a timer and monitoring my texts while at work.

No good for high cardio exercises when I tried it cycling, heart rate was constantly too low, sometimes as much as 50bpm wrong, returned it and now I have a huawei Gt3 the sensor is much more reliable. So if you want it to measure heart rate during exercises I would give this one a pass imo

I think all amazfit products have this issue, I had the same problem with the band 5 and bip 3
I think it's absolutely unacceptable that I spent over $250 for my SE and I only get a day and a half battery out of it

There are not that many watches that will fit this use case. Amazfit GTR/GTS 4 can do it, so can Huawei Gt 3 and above.
GTR 3 Pro can also store and play music locally on the watch. Up to 400 songs :) has a built-in speaker

You can't
They're definitely getting there with these releases.. if it had a speaker for calls and ability to reply to notifications (even canned messages), I'd snap this up to replace my Garmin.

The "Mini" is their budget-friendlier edition, so I think they will make sure it won't cannibalize the sales of their other models.
