Thanks for watching my Amazfit GTR 4 review, hoping to get the GTS 4 on the go soon - and please do ignore any Telegram competition nonsense from spambots, that's not me! Cheers!
Years back I had the Samsung Gear S3, I had to charge it every night. After two years it died. Since then I have used the original GTR, it is still going strong many years later. This new GTR4 looks excellent too. If I were to get a new smartwatch, I'd go for this one. Good stuff!
I bought a Samsung Watch 4 last September. I went to put it on a few days ago and it was bricked. Won't charge or anything. That's what $300 gets you nowadays I guess. Never getting another Samsung watch unless they improve the quality. My boyfriend bought this one for me as a Christmas present. Let's see how it holds up!
Yap.. some may say that it's okay to only have one day or two and simply re-charge the battery, but batteries have what's called life cycle. The more frequent the battery is charged, the faster it comes to its death (or at least the battery's optimal use)..
I am using the original GTR and its going great. I don't see any significant increment in features to want to upgrade yet. Yes, mine doesn't have calling or an SpO² monitor but I can live without those. 😀
I have the GTR 2, brilliant watch and hasn't let me down. I easily get 2 weeks of battery between charges still. No app support but it's a no nonsense smart watch
BEWARE: Amazfit may have been upgrading the sensors from generation to generation but one thing they have NOT upgraded was their HR algorithm. Now in the fourth generation, the watch is still suffering from a major flaw in that if fails to pick up the pulse in sudden and rapid spikes of the HR, in activities such as cycling, interval training, swimming and a few others. I could be climbing an uphill on my cycle getting an HR of as low as 56bpm (?). Amazfit is well aware of this problem but they have NOT bothered to adjust their algorithms as yet. The new Falcon as well as the T-REX 2 both suffer from the same flaw. It is possible that the flaw may have been passed on to other models of the Amazfit lineup as well.
@@SibTiger33 Most of the times I start my activities manually. but It makes no difference. I have pulled all sorts of tricks, played with the settings, rebooted to factory settings, all to no avail. Two things that may help is first, wearing the watch as farther back on your arm and secondly, if it happens from the very start of the workout, you need to end the session and begin a new one until it locks on the actual HR. What do you do when it looses track amidst a workout? You just ignore it and you don't let it spoil your mood.
I have the gtr 4 and I actually got 11 days of usage out of it. Yes I didn't have the alway on display but I did get the 11 days. On other days I get 10. Love the watch. Won't go back to samsung
I'm still with my GTR 1 😂 Mabye this will be funny to all of you but this watch has already more than enogh for me Every added thing after is good, but for me I think most of people at the end of the day want use 80% of those things It's cool if you really want it But for me I like it simple and doing it's job
I had the GTS2 and now have the GTS3 so I'm looking forward to the GTS4. I'm completely sports adverse, so the watch will get very little workout use, but I love the sleep tracking and heart rate 02 monitoring etc and things like the timers and alarms, notifications, weather (and find your phone!). The 4 has got indoor walking added I believe, which could be good for the walking treadmill I've got , and also fall detection is a nice addition. We have a downstairs bathroom so have to negotiate the stairs in a coma now and again in the night. It'll be terrific for answering a call when I'm cooking and not having to handle my phone. Smart watches are advertised with honed young people doing endless exercise, but they're getting really useful for us old biddies too.
@@TheRebs7 You reflect exactly why I wear the gtr 2. Also the gtr line up all look superb, especially the silver cases. I will get myself the 4 for christmas. By the way I'm finding the glass is easy to crack, I have 2 very fine cracks in mine. Have yours stayed uncracked?
@@robertjpayne Oh that's a shame. Wonder what caused that? Mine have been fine and I'm always amazed how shiny and scratch free they stay. It's nice, too, when you pass them on that they look pristine. I enjoyed the upgrade from the 2 to the 3 so I think you'll enjoy the 4 at Christmas.
@@TheRebs7 thanks for your endorsement of the 4. its been a while since I was excited by new kit and its quite motivating to see my steps and heart rate (I need to lose a few pounds)
@Rebs7, don't suppose you have a link to your walking treadmill? I'm trying to avoid the huge, not needed running treadmill but don't want something flimsy either!
Good review! Just to note, if you have an Android phone then the GTR4 allows you to reply to messages from the watch. You can reply from pre configured messages that you save but can't type to reply
Pretty decent watch. I'm not very big on feature loaded watches. I just want something that can handle notifications and some customization so I don't get bored of it. Great review as always. Thanks!
Its not unreliable or not accurate. Its better than most of his price tag. Its quite accurate actually but its not on par with high end smart watch like apple and samsung.
Everyone who raves about the GTR4 just raves about the big battery. I bought one of these two weeks ago and found, as you did, that it does a horrible job of keeping track of fitness metrics. The steps are all over the place, it has no clue when or how I am sleeping, pulse is sketchy and not real time, and the PAI's make no sense. A 3 mile treadmill run might send the PAI's through the roof but an extreme, 18 mile mountain ride will barely budge them. I could go on, but this thing is a complete failure as a fitness tracker.
Been using it for like a week now, I am happy with it overall but I'm concerned it's sleep tracking is really bad, my old trex pro had a better one, was way more accurate within sleep phases and showing when I was awake, my gtr 4 shows I fell asleep way before I actually did and sometimes shows I slept the whole night when I had awaken several times.
I really like the GTR 4, but I am still waiting for Zepp OS to offer a camera viewfinder app for looking into tight spaces. Love that tool on the Apple watch.
I am pretty pleased with my GTR (the 1st GTR). I still get about 20 days of battery and its got everything I need. Infact its got some functions that I don't use at all. I therefore don't see myself upgrading to the latest GTR4. I don't need the calling function and will definitely not like to take a call on speaker. I don't save music on my wearable and I am quite satisfied with the bio-trackers on my current watch.
Hi, I bought this watch and basically I am very happy with this choice. However the phone calls via the watch are a bit uncomfortable since the person on the other side keeps hearing an echo of his voice. I hoped a firmware update would help but the last one did not change anything. Anyone having this issue? Any solutions? Thanks in advance.
Thank you for the review. Can you tell me if the body of the watch is black? I thought it was Grey... How would it look with a silicone black strap? Thank you
Bought this for partner's birthday, and returned it almost immediately as it was constantly disconnecting from her phone. Lots of people commenting about this on Reddit, but very limited (and ineffective) information from Zepp to solve this. So disappointing after such a great review!
Excellent review! What's your experience with its tracking stair count? I've tried several times going up and down at home and it just doesn't track properly at all.
If these cheaper "smart" watches had google maps or an equivalent I'd be sold... I've most recently had an amazfit bip and went back to a normal watch. Google Fit tracks my steps on my phone, and I don't really care about heart rate or o2 levels. While it's smooth to use navigation is the one feature that would sell me on trying one again.
It has its own maps. Your walks, rides and runs are shown in the Zepp app and you can see on a map exactly where you have been without Google knowing your every movement!
For directions there are third party apps that can get Google map directions directly on the watch. But not as nice as wear os where you can look around on the map
Hi there, did you manage to figure out the Alexa/Amazon issue? As mine does the same. It'll be connected then an hour or so later I'll try it and it'll say to go back into the Amazon app
Thanks for the video, here are 2 questions that I have: 1. How does the GTR 4 compare to the Watch 4 Classic 46"? 2. Would you choose the GTR 4 or wait for the GTR 4 Pro?
Great review, thank you. Would this be a good watch for an elderly person to make eceive calls, monitor heart rate, spo2 and fall detection? Or would the Huawei Watch 3 be a better option.
Great review. Can you please share your thoughts about the compass? How accurate is it? I sold my GTR 2 because of the compass but I want to switch back to Amazfit again wondering about the compass.
I'm looking to replace my phone with a watch, full-time. I only need calls (Bluetooth headset compatible), messages, discord and a payment app on it. No GPS, heartrate or anything rlse. What would be the best choice? Do you have any suggestions?

Hello Tech Spurt. Thanks for this video and many others, been watching your videos for a while now. On this one, would you be able to confirm if the GTR4 can connect to external heart rate sensors, such as the Polar H10? 'settings>Bluetooth>workout accessory, then add device'?
Hello, Can you exit to the main menu while in the workout mode ? I usually use the timer between sets so this feature would be a deal braker for me...Thanks!
Just got mine, and most readings inaccurate. Steps yesterday Amazfit 10033, Huawei & Samsung both 6550, temperature now Amazfit 35 degrees, Huawei and Samsung 26.
While I have almost every Samsung watch made so far I saw this on amazon, and figured I see your review it. But when the proprietary app says "former" it screams don't buy me because I won't be supported after a while.
Unfortunately you have to look at the accuracy of the health metrics. Great that it tracks a workout and sleep but if the accuracy is poor then what's the point.
They adjust over time. Initially they are a bit off. After a week or so they learn your activities and become very accurate. I've had a few different ones. After a week or so they are spot on.
I tried the Amazfit GTR3 Pro and found it to be generally a decent smartwatch - however, I ended up returning it as, like all non Wear OS watches, the calendar app and notification management didn't sync with the phone at all - for me the two most useful "smart" aspects of the watch (as opposed to a fitness tracker) are being able to simultaneously delete notifications from the phone using the watch and being able to quickly see my calendar on the watch. So for me the Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra is much better (although the vibration motor is too noisy to be discrete! - probably due to light plastic body rather than metal?). Does notification management and calendar access work better on the GTR4??
I looked at what I used my Apple Watch for and I was surprised how little functionality I was using . Having just bought the amazfit GTR4 i was stunned by what is in the unit it covers everything I was using and more . I am still struggling to sync my apple cal to the device , but I am sure I work out how to do it. For £200 it’s outstanding value , the battery life is excellent, no more daily charging. I am convinced that apple will loose the hybrid Watch race purely on price and convenience. Great choice 😂
I have been using the GTR 3 Pro for this last year. Impressed with everything, swimming no problem, hundreds of faces, plus a huge 21 days with bluetooth always on. The best by a mile.

You can see your email calendar on the watch and app
I’m looking to get away from Apple, this looks like a great alternative.
Could I control Spotify and Apple Music through this watch?
I looked at what I used my Apple Watch for and I was surprised how little functionality I was using . Having just bought the amazfit GTR4 i was stunned by what is in the unit it covers everything I was using and more . I am still struggling to sync my apple cal to the device , but I am sure I work out how to do it. For £200 it’s outstanding value , the battery life is excellent, no more daily charging. I am convinced that apple will loose the hybrid Watch race purely on price and convenience. Great choice 😂
What a great video! I love the colour you use in your ambient.
Hey unc Spurt, how many retweets to get the GTR 3 ? 😅
I have been using the GTR 3 Pro for this last year. Impressed with everything, swimming no problem, hundreds of faces, plus a huge 21 days with bluetooth always on. The best by a mile.
