Bald Eagle nest near by in a residential neighborhood of Ann Arbor, Michigan. The nest located near the top of a White pine, 105 feet up and about 500 feet from the Huron River.
2021, Welcome Flora and Neon, the 9th and 10th eaglets born in Marge & Fred’s increasingly larger nest. They built the nest in 2015 and raised Downey and Fleece (2016), Belle (2017), Orville and Wilbur (2018), Pearl (2019), and Pappy and Winkle (2020). In 2021, there was number 9 and 10, Flora and Neon. Neon had quite the adventures, falling from the nest, rehab and released back near the nest. While Fred got tangled in fishing line , picked up and then release a week later. Lots of tension for us watchers.
In 2022, Fred and Marge had 3 eaglets for the first time named Maize, Blue and Wolverine. They lived to about seven weeks ( last seen May 6) and succumbed to either Avian Flu or a poisoned squirrel. Marge was last seen on May 8, 2022. She also fed on the squirrel where Fred did not. Most likely Avian Flu.
2023- Fred found a new mate, Daisy, in the fall of 2022. They successfully mated and there are two eaglets this spring. Named Mars and Saturn. Spring storm tree damage has made visibility of the "little ones" more difficult. They are now big enough to see regularly.
