(For the game, the developpers do the game in english, and the voice actors for the characters are english, sometimes you can hear some french words like "et voilà", ... Plus, lot of stuff can show why he's French, like the Number plate of the van in the 4th game (french)(story short on the van, that looks like a GMC Vendura, with the wing, 4 lights on the roof, and grill design, popular van in the US with the A-team, maybe it's a Easter egg 🤔),France is large, so the orphanage can be anywhere, Clermont-Ferrand, Nantes, or even in the countryside because of the "farm". Normally, you can travel through France in 2/3 days easily (~1000/2000km), so travelling from a certain city to Paris, and have a hide-out, or even don't know the city (meeting Carmelita/Sly on the rooftop) is not a problem. Yeah, I haven't fully played the fourth entry of the game but I can see what you mean in a way, That Dr. M, Last time I played Honor Among Thieves he got trapped, Sly faked his amnesia to get personal time with Carmelita Fox *_"That sneaky devil."_* Pretty much from there on before Thieves in Time I'll try picking it up. Also it just hit me to say but the voice actor for Dr. M is the same voice actor for TF2's Solider "Rick May." (No wonder why he sounded familiar, Some angry objections he made sounded exactly like a certain loud American dedicated rocket jumping Solider. xD) He also voiced Pepe same with Andross from Starfox and surprisingly appeared in far more then we could count... Sadly this year Rick May did actually pass away due to the predicaments regarding Covid-19, Well he was 79 years old he still lived a long life, may he rest in peace. 1940-2020.
sly 4 is my favorite sly, maybe there may have been some imperfections but from here to say that it is a failure and that you do not deserve a sly 5 is a bit excessive for sony. I hope they change their mind.

With Sly's time travel adventure, Bentley builds a Time Machine that requires an object in order to travel when or where. As Sly meets his ancestors throughout Thieves in Time, maybe they didn't even mentioned Sly while making the Thievius Raccoonus after getting their canes during the finale. This would've been like Back To The Future when Marty meets his parents in the 1950s and maybe when George and Lorraine name their kid, Marty, they might mention him or something. Man Sanzaru, it's really best to plan your time travel in Sly Cooper.
I personally wished the game was longer and that it had co-op so one person can play as Sly and the other be the ancestor. Though, I'm not sure how that would work in the opening and ending scenes. I enjoyed the time travel because for the past 3 games, we hear about the ancestors but never get to see them since they have passed. The closest we get to them is in the vault in Sly 3. Sly 4 gives us the chance to meet these thieves we've only heard about. Another thing I wish was included was more of a bond Sly developed with his ancestors since he had lost his parents at a young age but, he had a limited time with them to begin with.
So the blood line and the memories are the book its self and when the time fixed its self it made sure that the ancestors forgot about sly so every thing could be normal
I know a lot of people like to complain about the Penelope twist in Sly 4 but after going through the game again and listening to her explanation as to why she did what she did part of me has to wonder if she had a point.
I always thought the timelines reset themselves after the ancestors got their canes back at the end of the game because of what Bentley said. Which would mean the ancestor's lives went back to the way they were before Le Paradox showed up and stole their canes, meaning they never met Sly and the gang. Pretty much what you explained at 3:57. I thought Sly called his cane a family heirloom because that particular cane belonged to his dad before he was killed, whereas every other Cooper has their own unique cane. But Sly 4 has its own set of logic, so that could be how Sanzaru interpreted it. Even at the end of the game, Le Paradox said his goal was to steal the most valuable possessions of the greatest master thieves, which was their canes. So according to Sly 4, sure, but not the original trilogy. There is no in-game reason Sly's ancestors know techniques they shouldn't know. It was simply a choice by Sanzaru most likely because they didn't want Sly's ancestors to feel underpowered when compared to Sly. If they did decide to disable certain moves for certain ancestors because the moves haven't been invented yet, Salim wouldn't be able to rail walk or ninja spire jump, making him as preferable for world navigation as Murray and Carmelita. Basically, Sanzaru wanted players to explore the world as Sly's ancestors and locking them out of basic techniques that Sly already knows because of accurate time travel logic, everyone would have picked Sly to navigate the overworld just like the first 3 games. Does it bother me from a lore perspective? Yes. But from a gameplay perspective, I see why they made the decision to give the ancestors all of the basic techniques Sly knows. 9:38 Bootstrap paradox, we've talked about this. Doesn't work.

I also think that's they only way it could have played out without causing a lot of paradoxes, so that's how Sanzaru set it up to be interpreted. Of course, Bentley was able to do a "where are they now" in the credits most likely because of the Thievious Raccoonus or other historical documentation because they're history.
I've never played Sly Thieves In Time but from what I've saw and from what you talked about, time travel in this game be really simple and don't seem to create any consequences and paradoxes and that's why it don't make sense, do you think that there's too many plot holes?
I guess I wouldn’t mind plot holes to much. My problem with it seems like they had no reason to make those plot holes. They could’ve gone any direction with the fourth game and they chose a topic and complex as time travel, which isn’t a bad thing but it’s known for being a tricky subject and if it’s something your writing you better know what your doing
I couldn't agree with you more, this game really had no reason to go into the time travel subject, it seemed like they were treatin' it as a joke and not makin' any sense as how they didn't create paradoxes, they didn't really care about the complexity of it and could of gone with any other route for this game, other games like Ratchet & Clank proved to handle it perfect and it fits with the universe.
Personal thing with time travel with my opinion. I'm of the belief that time still needs to catch up with someone or something before something changes meaningfully in a time stream. For example the Books pages where being erased one after another over the course of possible days slowly so it plays into that though plus the idea that sly and the gang were the sort of "glue" that kept the book together despite the changes to the timestream. You can kill the book and canes but you an't kill the ideas or the person behind the ideas without effort.

It works fine. I hope Sanzaru expands on it in the next game. I'd like a longer game with interesting characters, missions, and plot points like the original trilogy. Maybe also combine the newer art style and gameplay with the old.
oh hey vivi I wanted to let you know, I played the new update for yooka laylee and the impossible lair and I honestly really like the idea of having checkpoints in the actual impossible lair. I just don't get why they didn't do that with the game at all. but overall it just seems like there wasn't much added to this update. I was slightly underwhelmed but still liked what we got.
The Thievius Raccoonus is just a journal passed down Cooper lore. It's not like the book is a sentient being that can float in the air and talk wisdom. Sly could just easily copy every ancestors history in a new empty journal and just title it as his own Thievius Raccoonus but it's still a major part of his ancestry.🦝 As for the cane I don't really know how important it is. If you look as Tennessee's weapon you would see that it's not really a cane but a revolver. And Bob's cane is just a stick attached to a sharp bone. So some of the ancestors don't really have canes as a family heirloom.
Hmm... I played the Sly games, Hell I'm currently replaying Sly Cooper 3: Honor Among Thieves however for now I'm stuck in the pirate stage given there are many ships to avoid let alone outwit/sink, toggling directions are really hard given I'm playing it on keyboard so it will take awhile. Anyways all 3 except the 4th being Thieves in Time though I do have the game it's for PS3 for some reason it doesn't work on PS4 so I can't fully say for certain. But I will say this: Would I want to Time Travel?... Heck yes, Despite the fragile rules of time among other anomalous aspects we may not be too aware of yet I would still want to Doc Brown/Doctor Who through time just to see things from an eagles eye if that makes any sense, maybe save somebody's life's that were cut too short or just overall see the world how it was before just trying not to implicate things.

It could be possible that Sly actually wrote the Thievius Raccoonus himself when he was trapped in Eqypt And by reading Thievieus Raccoonus his ancestors would learn those skills I don't believe that Sly got permanently stuck in the past, but he left Thievius Raccoonus behind when he got out
I see you're still dancing around the many reasons why people criticize TiT. Relative to this video, I'd like to point out that good time travel plots can and do exist. Time travel doesn't have to be a mess; it's not some eldritch monstrosity that mankind can never fully understand, like you're implying (and in one case outright saying).
🤔 I mean yeah I mean In sly 3 There were piles of Canes just sitting outside the vault and I mean I always thought why couldn’t Dr M just open the vault with those canes dude what if they were the ancestors canes omg And I literally just replayed the trilogy like 3 weeks ago or hang on wait maybe DR M tried to make canes to try and get in vault Because they’re canes are already in the vault Anyway the thief sprints in sly 1 were a bit of a challenge but I somehow managed to do them Man the casino level took me probably over 100 tries don’t know how it’s possible for you to do it in that time but I did it And the back ally heist level I think that’s what it’s called but I don’t know how I managed to get a time of 0:00 I Actually reckon I’m the only one in the world who’s got that
Those canes were Dr M's attempts to create a replica of the real vault key that Sly had. He props took the shape from the door and tried to mold a key to open the door, but those were faulty knock offs and couldn't open the door, either for tiny details in them not fitting in the hole properly or there is a small secret part in the real cane that he couldn't replicate just by using the vault door's key hole shape to mold them.
Well even though sly is in Egypt the way he can go back is if he finds a ancestor that has the book and he can write something in it that only Bentley and everyone else would know and he can put the year and day boom problem solved
The time travel in this game I've heard definitely all over the place, it's really flawed here, ur using objects to travel in an exact day and time in an era which don't make sense and time machines don't travel to different regions of the world, I don't think they thought this through it look like they left a lotta plotholes and paradoxes open, time travel in the Jak series was taken more seriously and treated realistically that tied the plot between the past and Haven City, time travel just don't fit in a universe like this
Or, more likely, the book is about passing on the writer’s best skills and tips. It’s not about recounting that one time Sly slipped into the picture. To be completely fair, how does that better another Cooper?

Time travel in this game is terribly written. There is no way around it. There's no excuse for it being as stupid and as dumbed down as it is in this game other than the fact that it's a kids game and kids won't understand complex time travel 😒🙄🤦

I couldn't agree with you more, this game really had no reason to go into the time travel subject, it seemed like they were treatin' it as a joke and not makin' any sense as how they didn't create paradoxes, they didn't really care about the complexity of it and could of gone with any other route for this game, other games like Ratchet & Clank proved to handle it perfect and it fits with the universe.
Biggest plot hole I guess would be exactly what I said, how the gang interacting with his ancestors didn't cause anomalies.
I guess they simply wanted to have playable ancestors.
Thought the exact same, talkin' with ancestors would make some paradoxes.
Personal thing with time travel with my opinion. I'm of the belief that time still needs to catch up with someone or something before something changes meaningfully in a time stream. For example the Books pages where being erased one after another over the course of possible days slowly so it plays into that though plus the idea that sly and the gang were the sort of "glue" that kept the book together despite the changes to the timestream. You can kill the book and canes but you an't kill the ideas or the person behind the ideas without effort.

oh hey vivi I wanted to let you know, I played the new update for yooka laylee and the impossible lair and I honestly really like the idea of having checkpoints in the actual impossible lair. I just don't get why they didn't do that with the game at all. but overall it just seems like there wasn't much added to this update. I was slightly underwhelmed but still liked what we got.
Checkpoints alone for me is a big deal heheh :P

The Thievius Raccoonus is just a journal passed down Cooper lore. It's not like the book is a sentient being that can float in the air and talk wisdom. Sly could just easily copy every ancestors history in a new empty journal and just title it as his own Thievius Raccoonus but it's still a major part of his ancestry.🦝
As for the cane I don't really know how important it is. If you look as Tennessee's weapon you would see that it's not really a cane but a revolver. And Bob's cane is just a stick attached to a sharp bone. So some of the ancestors don't really have canes as a family heirloom.
I always imagined Sly's cane being the only key to the vault, a key every ancestor had and made canes in its image :)

Hmm... I played the Sly games, Hell I'm currently replaying Sly Cooper 3: Honor Among Thieves however for now I'm stuck in the pirate stage given there are many ships to avoid let alone outwit/sink, toggling directions are really hard given I'm playing it on keyboard so it will take awhile. Anyways all 3 except the 4th being Thieves in Time though I do have the game it's for PS3 for some reason it doesn't work on PS4 so I can't fully say for certain.
But I will say this: Would I want to Time Travel?... Heck yes, Despite the fragile rules of time among other anomalous aspects we may not be too aware of yet I would still want to Doc Brown/Doctor Who through time just to see things from an eagles eye if that makes any sense, maybe save somebody's life's that were cut too short or just overall see the world how it was before just trying not to implicate things.
I never liked that boat mission in Sly 3 :/

For the Time Travel thing, it need to figure out every actions of the characters that gonna interact with the past,because it can change a lot of things (like in Back to the Future). But yes it's a game and it's Sly Cooper franchise, so I think the developers don't put that much work on all the details because "kid game"...

Relative to this video, I'd like to point out that good time travel plots can and do exist.
Time travel doesn't have to be a mess; it's not some eldritch monstrosity that mankind can never fully understand, like you're implying (and in one case outright saying).
🤔 I mean yeah I mean In sly 3 There were piles of Canes just sitting outside the vault and I mean I always thought why couldn’t Dr M just open the vault with those canes dude what if they were the ancestors canes omg And I literally just replayed the trilogy like 3 weeks ago or hang on wait maybe DR M tried to make canes to try and get in vault Because they’re canes are already in the vault Anyway the thief sprints in sly 1 were a bit of a challenge but I somehow managed to do them Man the casino level took me probably over 100 tries don’t know how it’s possible for you to do it in that time but I did it And the back ally heist level I think that’s what it’s called but I don’t know how I managed to get a time of 0:00 I Actually reckon I’m the only one in the world who’s got that
Those canes were Dr M's attempts to create a replica of the real vault key that Sly had. He props took the shape from the door and tried to mold a key to open the door, but those were faulty knock offs and couldn't open the door, either for tiny details in them not fitting in the hole properly or there is a small secret part in the real cane that he couldn't replicate just by using the vault door's key hole shape to mold them.
Well even though sly is in Egypt the way he can go back is if he finds a ancestor that has the book and he can write something in it that only Bentley and everyone else would know and he can put the year and day boom problem solved

The time travel in this game I've heard definitely all over the place, it's really flawed here, ur using objects to travel in an exact day and time in an era which don't make sense and time machines don't travel to different regions of the world, I don't think they thought this through it look like they left a lotta plotholes and paradoxes open, time travel in the Jak series was taken more seriously and treated realistically that tied the plot between the past and Haven City, time travel just don't fit in a universe like this

Time travel in this game is terribly written. There is no way around it. There's no excuse for it being as stupid and as dumbed down as it is in this game other than the fact that it's a kids game and kids won't understand complex time travel 😒🙄🤦
