When you started out by saying “these rankings can change from year to year” I really felt that. I also like Four Christmases. I’m a big Vince Vaughn fan. I love the Die Hard franchise too. Jingle All The Way is a ton of fun. Just Friends is hilarious. I still need to see Scrooged. Gremlins is a blast. Great Top 25 Christmas ranking.

Great list Tony. I really enjoyed Last Christmas as well, I saw it in theaters when it came out. Plus it has an awesome soundtrack.

It needs a rewatch. It has been a while since I saw it, but it is so good.

Love the list Tony, I also have the original Miracle on 34th st as my favorite of all time. Some older ones I checked out for the first time this year that I enjoyed: Remember the Night 1940, Miracle of the Bells 1948, the Shop around the corner 1940, One magic Christmas -1985

    • @BasementBlus

I'll check those out! I love the older films.

Great list Tony. I’ve become a big fan of Love Actually over the years (although I didn’t watch it this year). I have a 4.5 year old daughter so any tv time I get these days is Mickey Mouse, Peppa Pig and Blue’s Clues.
I’ve never seen Miracle on 34th street or It’s a Wonderful Life.
I’ve always wondered if The Godfather would fall into the Christmas category since part of it does take place around the holidays.

Have you seen the classics like Christmas in Connecticut, Meet me in St. Louie and others? How many of the A Christmas Carols have you seen?
I want to see all these but there’s so many that I haven’t yet.

Nice to see some Gremlins love, I was surprised it so low on Tim's list show.
Ernest Saves Christmas, people seem to love or hate Ernest, I really enjoyed this movie, I have not seen any other Ernest movies. It might never get an upgrade, I think it's DVD only, you'll know better than me.
Christmas with the Kranks, I think if you like Christmas Vacation you'll like this one.
Reindeer Games, watch this one for Bob.
Trapped in Paradise, I like this one, it missed top 25 only because there are films much better, but I give this a 3/5 Nicholas Cage, Jon Lovitz, Dana Carvey star in it.
Christmas Evil, my only horror recommendation, and the movie I rank highest of all the recommendations.
If you've seen these let me know what you think, and if not add them to the list for next year. 😂
I forgot Eyes Wide Shut by Kubrick, it's not very cheery, but it is very Christmas-y.

Ill never understand why people think Die Hard is a Christmas film. Now for those that do i have a quesiton for you. Why does Die Hard/Die Harder count as a Christmas film when plenty of others have the same concept ( A film that happens to take place during Christmas time but not a Christmas film) that don't count. Like Lethal Weapon, Trading Places, Edward Scissorhands, First Blood, L.A. Confidential, Gremlins, Mean Girls, American Psycho, Rocky IV, Batman Returns, Ghostbusters II, Reindeer Games..and plenty more i can't think of off hand

    • @BasementBlus
      @BasementBlus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

All valid points. I count many of those as Christmas films Tom.

    • @JMoviesMedia

Some of these I’d have to watch or rewatch to give a verdict. But here in my movie verse Die Hard is a Christmas movie because it not only is based around Christmas, there’s Christmas music, Christmas references and a very Christmas esk story. It even ends on a Christmas song. The same applies to Die Hard 2 because they’re traveling literally around Christmas, Christmas music, Christmas references, snow, Christmas decorations, Christmas themes and the chief literally says “Merry Christmas!”. And again ends on a Christmas song.
Mean Girls has got to be the worst challenges you give. Christmas is in the movie for like ten minutes if that. The entire movie is time phasing. It doesn’t stick to one season or one time period. The majority of the film though takes place during summer, fall and later spring after winter and Christmas time. And to mention, 😝: Why don’t you consider it a Halloween movie? It has Halloween in it.
😈 You know why! It’s because as I just stated, the movie is phased through time and hits on too many seasons and time periods to be considered a Halloween or Christmas movie. Movies like Lethal Weapon and Trading Places I thought were considered Christmas movies but that movies like Lethal Weapon and others lack enough Christmas references, music etc that they’re not beloved Christmas movies as much as die hard. If you compared Lethal Weapon and Die Hard you’d probably look stupid if you at all tried to compare the two. Die Hard literally has a Christmas soundtrack. When you see the Nakitomi tower you hear the Die Hard Christmas track play. Why would they need to create a Die Hard Christmas titled movie to convince you? The franchise itself is not Christmas but the first two movies are.
As much as I don’t care to watch A Nightmare Before Christmas around Christmas I still recognize it as such. I just don’t understand the people who like watching it around the two major days of Christmas.
