George’s historically belonged to Europe you need to know Georgian history to understand this it is embedded in our ancient culture and history. We did not come up to this idea yesterday.
This makes sense, I was wondering why my old Philadelphian neighborhood I grew up in is literally 75-80% Georgians now. I didn’t realize there was a power struggle for identity and allegiance in their country. Great people by the way, love them and they make great food.
What we're seeing in Georgia is just the tip of the iceberg: yes, it is indeed a pushback to the oligarch-ruled government's anti-constitutional hijacking of Georgia's European aspirations (the Article 78 of the country's constitution emphasizes ''the full integration of Georgia into the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization''), reflecting the country's civilizational, cultural and historical drive to the West (the idea supported by the overwhelming majority of its population: over 80%), but it is also an angry (very angry!) reaction to what the ruling party (ironically calling itself ''Georgian Dream'') has done to Georgia in the last decade: absence of the rule of law, unaccountability, clientelism, nepotism and corruption at every level of the state system, rise of crime, widespread poverty, increased emigration and brain drain, repeated mismanagement of natural hazards, no ecological policy, irresponsible disregard for world-class cultural heritage (the ongoing mistreatment of the medieval UNESCO site of Gelati Monastery near Kutaisi and the damage of its unique medieval frescos is just one example), massive and increasing urbicide through uncontrolled building permissions and laxed planning regulations (anyone who's visited Tbilisi, Batumi and other major cities can attest to that), minimal to no effort to develop national industry (instead betting on tourism and turning the country into a big noisy restaurant full of predominantly Russian holidaymakers fantasizing about ''warm sunny Georgia''), defunding the military (instead of working 24/7 to turn it into a capable army in the face of the ongoing Russian occupation), alienating the country's true friends and partners (the robotic PM calling Georgia's protesting youth ''the fifth column'' while proudly posing on public photos in Tehran with the leaders of Iran and Hamas), rewarding political loyalty instead of merit and competence (uneducated footballers, weightlifters, wrestlers etc. in the parliament and other state bodies; they've just nominated a former football player with no diploma as the country's future ceremonial presidential candidate whose only merits are loyalty to the oligarch, fistfights in the parliament and a track record of vile anti-Western tirades). So, don't fall for this nonsense of explaining Georgia with shallow conspiracy theories linking the latest developments to CIA, MI6, Mossad or the aliens when the roots of all the street rage are here and easy to see (unless you're a troll or an idiot).
