There's a very similar dish that's been served in a New York landmark Le Cirque for a long long time. Top Chef season 3 ep 14 " Manhattan project" did that as a quickfire challenge that eventual winner Hung won.
that is the same, Daniel was the executive chef at Le Cirque back then.
