It’s funny how Chris seems to have absolutely no idea how the DIY hardcore scene is, how everyone knows each other and how everyone just books their own stuff lol
And if Throwdown was new and blew his mind it was only a few more years before Suicide Silence was signed. Not everyone came up through that hardcore scene in the 90s that was involved in heavy music in the 2000s.
I found Sunami about 2 years ago and they are one of my favorite newer hardcore bands but I never knew the history behind them. Learning about the history of the name and the fact that they started as a joke is fucking hilarious, also the fact Josef listened to nothing but Big L when writing lyrics is fucking amazing, it makes perfect sense in hindsight. I love this band even more now
I get what you're saying but chill on the fan boy mentality lol. Garza is a normal dude. Hardcore isn't about larger than life images. It's about real motherfuckers, down to Earth, keeping it real, keeping it heavy, uniting and supporting the hardcore scene. Suicide Silence is just a dope band from the IE. Guarantee Garza doesn't want people praising him like he's someone super duper special.
@@Crash.7434 Suicide Silence is one of the og deathcore bands that made the genre what it is today. Not the biggest band in the world but legendary in their own right. Props to Chris for showing so much love to all the newer bands.
@@J.Shambles fair enough. I’m not into that style of music but everyone has different taste in music. It’s definitely awesome seeing people promote each other.
Met and had a small talk with Theo during their Manila leg, very very cool dude! Seeing Theo playing my bass is such an honor for me. Seeing them live is a dream come true for me and my bandmates. Ever since we heard and covered Contempt of Cop we are eager to get that RBS sound that is distinct to them. Our vocalist wanted a mix of Sunami and Snuff on Sight sound.
what i love about chris is that he ain't afraid to simply talk. like just to talk. and it works out in the best way for him unlike where some people just sound like they either just wanna hear their self or just fill the space in the room

Incredible interview hosting. Saw the video was a hour long, thought I'd listen to 5 minutes, here I am at the end and behind with work. Thank you so much!
my mans definitely needs more hardcore bands on here lol. bands like lorna shore, left to suffer, etc. are ushering in huge waves of fans to the heavy music scene but these guys, turnstile, and knocked loose are giving it way more exposure to the mainstream audience
@@sickfitz4256 Yes those are, he's talking about Lorna Shore and Left To Suffer. Those are not hardcore bands, not a part of this scene, have nothing to do with Sunami or any hardcore bands relevant right now.
found out about them in late 2021 because my friend put me on Gulch. Seen them for the first time at chain reaction, seen them again at S&F in 2022 & again at s&f this year; love this band so much. Just shit talking and having fun!
I have these guys on a playlist I play Chivalry 2 and MK11 to all the time. They are great, but I'm afraid now I'm too old to enter a pit anymore with young dudes lol. Thanks for covering these guys, Garza! And Fear Factory (er whats left of Fear Factory)
@@Greenbrainss its kind of wild to me as someone who has been in the music industry his whole life like Garza lol. He is an older guy like me too so it just surprised me
Is a talk with Justin Horval still in the works? Justin may come across as aggressive on his channel but he's just busting chops - it would be an epic episode and good exposure for both of you
@@GarzaPodcast Holy shoot, im glad he didn’t rub you the wrong way, hes just serious about what he does thats all lol. The guy is just full honesty really.
The reason I got into hardocre during the pandemic is it was the only music that i could relate too, saw trash talk and turnstile at g59 show. Started my journey into hardcore, i also love the anti capitalist, pro working class message alot of hardcore bands put out. Much love Sunami from Texas
I have never cared for them cause it felt like wannabe tough guy shit and it was just musically so dumb. Turns out that's exactly what they were going for and now I'm a fan lol
So sick to hear the RBS show story told from them I was there been in the scene since 2005 and this show felt like i was 15 again its was wild we all had fun like they said no cops fucking vocalist Zack from Elysia came out it was wild seen homies i havent seen in like 15 years at the show all around amazing time I wish it was a festival.
Still pissed that I missed seeing these guys in White Rock, BC earlier this year. Really says a lot how fast it sold out. Next time they come anywhere up here I’ve made it my mission to see them lmao.
@@weekendnachoz Yeah, I was really excited since I live in Langley and it’s considerably closer than travelling all the way to downtown Vancouver. I even got work off and all that, but me and my friend missed presale and despite going early we were still too late. I’d love them to play that venue again so we can get redemption

Well yeah, they have a record deal and are backed up’d by deep pockets. They get catered to, they just show up and play. I don’t blame him at all.

Ngl never heard of them. This just popped up in my recommended. The only modern “hardcore” band i listen to is Sunami.
