I don’t think anyone has the right to shame you at all. We all have our own personal challenges and struggles, and the fact that you are sharing them so openly is incredibly brave. You are choosing to make changes to your life for you and for your family and that’s amazing. Budgeting is hard, and it really is so easy to spend in today’s world. A little here, a little there…. Every adjustment you are going to make is good, and being able to say “I am spending this and it is because I am choosing to not because it is what I have always done” is a big thing. You go, lady. You got this. ❤
Looks like I am the first person to see you this morning. Good Morning. 💚💚💚 I did watch all the way to you scolding your Dad for red vines. I am not going to scold. You are in the beginning stages and you are becoming aware of where your challenges are. Maybe the concert tickets were expensive, but you made a lifetime memory with your daughter. That is precious. You cam have a low spend Christmas and have Christmas. Learn to make gifts. My daughter and I had no money when she was young and I homeschooled her. We used resources like library books, her art supplies and the yarns I got by donations to our cause and we made gifts. To many who were understanding our gifts were received warmly. I knit and crochet, those gifts are still received warmly and have become keepsakes to my friends. There is little need for embarrassment, when you are sharing publicly you are working toward change in a healthy way. Change is a challenge. 💚💚💚
Hi Abbie ❣️ Good morning ❣️ Is it morning or nighttime for you⁉️ I am suppose to be asleep 😴 but so excited by all I have learned and applied … and learning how to use imovie is kind of fun too ❣️
Thank you so much for all the encouragement ❣️And I love your ideas for Christmas❣️I am definitely going to do somethings different to spend less money this year. You are entered to win!!! Love ❤Jenean
Hi Jenean, welcome to this wonderful budgeting community. Elaine sent me and I’m happy to follow your journey and offer support. You will find that this community is very, very supportive. My bit of advice is that you remember that even though we learn a lot from each other our budgeting journeys are all unique to our own personal circumstances. I take a little from this person and a little from another and it has definitely helped me tremendously. I learned rather quickly that no two journeys are exactly the same. “Jenean, enter me” ( I always like to read the bio when I subscribe to a channel) Loved your video and your planner is gorgeous ❤😊
🫢 Thank you so much for advice and support ❣️ With $160k plus a little more of debt 💸, I need the support and ideas as I go on this journey. I just “winged” it before but I can’t anymore -it never worked and I so regret waiting this long! Just shameful ❣️I love the savings challenge and your channel is so impressive ❣️I subscribed ❣️ You are entered ❣️Please email: jeneancreason18@gmail.com Lots of love 🤗❤️Jenean
@@thebalancedplanner You are very welcome. You have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. The important thing is that you took the first step to start your debt free journey. You’ve got this❤️
I think it’s very realistic to plan your spending for Christmas and acknowledge that it is important to you and enjoy the journey of paying off your debt. No need to only eat rice and beans (unless you like it)!❤
I am so sorry about your recent loss. Atomic Habits is a great book. It was a little overwhelming but I still think I can manage it in small bites. I use my planners as a brain dump and I track what I get done that day, along with goal setting. I only do one main goal a year though and the rest of my goals have to support the main goal. I stopped beating myself up a few years ago when I figured out I can reach a goal, one at a time! I do not do well working on many goals at once. I get overwhelmed. Your planner is a little overwhelming to me, but a long term goal for me is to have lists that long one day of habit stacks and not want to go back to bed for the day 🤣 Dave Ramsey is not for everyone. You do Dave Ramsey when you can't keep a roof over your head any other way. I wish Miko still had her videos up when she was budgeting and still in debt. She took them down years ago. Do not scorch earth your budget. 1st, grab all of your credit card statements and bank statements for the past year and grab those great mild liners and have fun categorizing every single transaction you can. This sounds like something you will enjoy. (I love color coding too) Then add up all the categories and avg them over the year. Start with broad categories, you can break them down later. Like for example, Bills. Use this for your mortgage or rent, utilities, vehicle payment & insurance. Living for all your food, consumables and durables. These are the basics like dish soap, a new set of pots and pans because your old ones have become a health hazard, a new travel mug because your old one lost it's seal. Personal, these are the luxury living items, like for when you spend $400.00 at the salon on your haircut, gloss and product. Subscriptions, Annual expenses, etc.. Try not to do more than 10-12 broad categories at first. You will very quickly see where you actually overspend. (For me, it is food.) There is nothing wrong with buying a $2000.00 couch, at all. You just need to plan for it. You can totally pay off debt, enjoy dinner out once in a while and plan for your couch at the same time! You have got this, I promise! 💙

I haven’t read Atomic Habits yet but I love the idea of falling in love with the journey and not the destination 🥰
James, the author, mentions it is the systems and process that reigns!
