Works of art cost money. As long as their quality remains high, Hot Toys can keep charging what they charge. With Queen Studios dipping into the sixth scale world, and third party companies stepping up their game, my guess is that Hot Toys will have to either drop the cost or keep increasing quality. Hot Toys are the standard by which all others are measured.

It's pretty simple, and I say this as someone who's been collecting since 2010 and have a good 60+ models in my collection.
The people who complain about Hot Toys prices, generally want something they can't have. In other words, it's way past their buying power.
The people who do collect what they want and pay for it, know the work that goes into it. The expenses involved. Licensing. Production costs. HOW A BUSINESS WORKS. And most of all, the artistic element that is core to producing models like Hot Toys.
To sum it up, value is relevant to the individual. People who can't afford Hot Toys shouldn't be buying them. And unfortunately, we have more people in the 1/6 community who complain about prices than most would like to care for.

One of my problems with Hot Toys is their lack of replacement accessories. Pleather is a big problem for alot of their early products. The jacket on my MMS 238 T-800 is starting to crackle and peel. That's an integral part of that figure's costume. Ask anyone who has a Hans Landa figure about pleather deterioration. Or some of the early predator figures. When youre paying that kind of money you shouldn't have to stress about finding custom costume and accessory pieces on eBay.

@fardeen films Hot Toys have been taking advantage of their name and reputation. There are so many other companies making licensed and third party unlicensed figures. Three Zero is one of my favorites with their Rambo figures. Hot Toys do make the best headsculpts in my opinion but there is only so much Star Wars and MCU stuff you can buy

Hot toys is way too expensive. It’s not the stuff that looks realistic that cost money it’s just the plastic. Every figure should be around $100. they’re just overcharging because they know there’s people that really want these cool realistic figures and they’re right because nobody’s ever going to stop buying these it’s like the demon slayer buzz mod situation because they add cloth they make it way over priced when the real price should be about $80-$60 but soon enough there’s going to be a company that actually charges how much the figures cost to make instead of charging literally $600 for a Spider-Man that probably cost at max 100 instead of charging an extra $300 for cloth and rubber that cost at the max $20-$50 to add on

Well done and well said. The thing I find about Hot Toys (and some SooSoo figures) is that you don't fully appreciate the art, the precision, the wonder of a figure until you get it in your hands. Even the most high quality photos don't do many figures justice until you see the beautiful sculpt, the exact fitting of the clothes, the true design of the character right in front of your eyes.

I always told myself i wouldnt get into Hot toys because the price but I started collecting almost 2 months ago and have already 7 figures. I found 2 figures at a game store and the owner was just trying to get rid of them and I paid $100 each which is an absolute steal as it was brand new. I then bought some figures from Ebay and the used market obviously goes for less money which helps. The only new figure I bought is Mando. Yes Hot Toys are expensive but you pay for quality and that's what Hot toys are. The real problem to me is space because all these figures and boxes take up too much lol

Really enjoyed this video bro. And I’ve subscribed to you. Completely agree with you.
I treated myself this xmas, and got my first ever hot toys at the grand age of 32! This was a big deal for me 😅
I bought the 1/4 Spider-Man deluxe. (Favourite character)
I’ve wanted a hot toys for what feels like half of my life. Always followed the scene but never had the cash spare. So i had to resort to mezco one:12.
Now i have one of the greatest figures ever made!
My thoughts on price? I paid £480 for him, steep at first but so worth it. I honestly feel privileged to own him, he is simply stunning. When i see my friends and they see him, they all get blown away by the realism. Especially when i tell them about the production behind him and that he’s made completely by hand. Like there’s a story to these figures unlike any other.
Now yes he’s the price of a second hand car, but he consistently makes people smile 😊 adds tons of character to my room, whilst also being a beautiful piece of artwork that a real team has made by hand.
Honestly? Unpopular opinion but I actually think they should be more expensive than they are. When you consider everything, the price is very fair imo. Especially when they retain their value.
My advice to people who complain about price, wait it out till they release exactly what you want. Then suck it up and pay it.
I could never afford hot toys on a regular basis, might as well get the figure you want, rather than ten you only “kind of wanted” but could only afford on sale.

I've had 1/6 and 1/4 statues repainted, and that alone is ~$550 minimum, and can cost over $1k. Obviously, these are different markets, but good painting is NOT cheap. My statues generally look better than my HT, but they don't move and lack a LOT of the intricate details / engineering HT have - especially when I consider Iron Man figures.

    • @kylebewley7790
      @kylebewley7790 ปีที่แล้ว

How true is that about master sculpts? I remember watching a a short video about the production of hot toys, and they said each head was hand made from the highest quality modelling clay, then left to dry where it goes rock solid and then painted. The whole process took between 2 weeks to a month for each head depending on scale. They never mentioned a master sculpt and basically said every head is hand made. Were hot toys lying?
