      No. It still uses fax machines. Jokes aside, I really don't think it is ahead of time. This project is ambitious and I like the SIMS™ simulation but this is clearly years in the future; and probably, other nations will reveal and debut their own earlier. Also, one of the few problems I didn't see addressed was the heat management - in Japan, every house has an AC and I think that's one reason why pollution won't be like they said in the video.

      @@unixplayer7284 the data that is collected from residents will likely end up being sold off to any corporation that wants it. There is no real privacy planned out for these types of cities so just like how your phone and computer track and record everything you use them for your day to day life will be tracked and recorded so that algorithms can market and sell you stuff. @@juliuscaesar5270 it's scary in that these types of smart cities don't plan to allow privacy. Residents will be tracked and recorded in their day to day lives just like your phone and computer track and record everything you use them for but you can put those things down and not use them. In smart cities just walking down the street cameras you can't really see record you, analyze your face and body, your voice is analyzed and record, etc...
      All that data will likely be sold off to any corporation that wants it so they can sell you stuff. The government could, and likely will, come up with a social credit system like some Chinese cities are trying out so if they don't think you're being an upstanding citizen they could restrict you from their autonomous vehicles or stop you from being able to buy even basic necessities.
      Smart cities seem exciting, leisurely and freeing but that can quickly be switched.

    I like how the park in the center used this emoji 😮, pay close attention. But it's amazing they can do this with JUST $10 billion. My country spends 700+ billion a year on JUST so called defense budgets. But it's nice to see what $10 billion can actually do when there is accountability for where and how it's spent.

    • @francoislechanceux5818
      @francoislechanceux5818 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Some countries defend only themselves. Some cannot entirely defend themselves. Other countries defended and are always poised and preparing to defend not only themselves but their allies too. And some of these allies are often 10000 miles away in other continents across great oceans. And thanks to these later countries peace has been maintained in Europe since 1945 and in Asia since 1953.
      The only time Europe has EVER known 70 consecutive years of peace since the last 1200 years is only since 1945 and this is because of the US presence in Europe after WW2. The US left after WW1, a few years later, the Europeans went at each other again with more brutality and savagery than during WW1. Result: WW2, the entire Europe destroyed and 55 million people dead.
      Give unto Ceasar, what is Caesar. God Bless the USA. (From a French man whose country was freed TWICE in the last century among others at the cost hundreds of thousands of innocent American lives.)

    This is truly amazing. As a scientist who has an interdisciplinary background (humanities & sciences) I think the research facilities should have not only engineers and technicians but also social scientists and other scientists that deal with how technology is socially perceived and accepted. Futuristic technocracy is a real problem without the critical thinking provided by other sciences - for instance, the issues with AI monitoring people's every steps and how this can be used politically. That being said, I'm really excited about this project. Amazing.

    How much will future such cities cost per person if discounting the initial R&D costs?
