I use it as my main bike in London it leaves the rest behind in the dust. Filtering through congested traffic and easy to park a gem. I also do some motorway travel could wish it did more than 65mph but its ok
My first bike is a 1988 Honda C90 economy which I still have will forever have since it’s my favourite bike but I need something that keeps up with traffic and something where I can just get on and go , thinking I will pick up a black one straight from the Honda dealer and getting some accessories for it . I’ve had a ride on a mates one and it was so much fun it made me realise that bikes are more than just a hobbie , it’s a way of life and I want into that life
Love that mate 💙👍🏼 my first bike was a Honda ns125f 2 stroke and I wish I’d have kept it.. tbf I wish I’d kept a few of them now.. Enjoy the new Honda when it turns up dude 👍🏼
Brilliant little bikes a theres a load of us going Isle of man this weekend on them, much more fun than my big bike which is gathering dust since I got me and the wife a monkey each.
I've just watched Si Motofoto on his monkey and he commutes 50 miles each way to Glasgow, and has clocked up over 1500 miles in 7 months of ownership. It doesn't bother him.
I like mine, the only mod is 1 tooth smaller countersprocket, mirror extenders, and a rack. These bikes don't really loosen up until 1000 miles or so. Some say that a wind screen helps with a couple mph too.
The service intervals are 4000miles and maintenance is very easy, the 5 speed one has an oil filter which makes it even easier than a 4 speed one it’s just I preferred the 4 speed.. they are easy to look after too and if your commute is easy going it’ll be great to commute on!! For me my commute is longer and the bike was more for pleasure but the Honda monkey is a fantastic bike and can go anywhere! Although I steer clear of motorways 👍
Thanks for your assessment. Think I'd be scared leaving it places. Did you find the Suzuki 125 ok for commuting and weekend riding too? Looking at downsizing myself, Cheers 👍
The Suzuki was a fantastic commuter 👍🏼 also did everything else including a trip to the Isle of Man for the Manx.. Cracking bike the Suzuki gsxs125.. the monkey is fantastic if you wanna use it for fun rides..
I wouldn’t want to commute on it because it would take away from what it really is, a fun bike for pleasure use! Longer rides aren’t an issue I’ve done a few on it and it’s comfy but for decent sized commutes there are just better bikes for that and tbf this is just a great bike for social riding!
I'm about to sell my 900 ninja which I've had for 14yrs to get a Honda Monkey instead, I've owned up to 1000cc now to do the ultimate downsize 😱, bit scary, I know what you mean, you can have too much of a good thing "the sweetest Honey, is loathsome in it's own deliciousness" but tbf my biking passion has been waning for some time and I barely ride, and I feel like the bike is getting heavier and more cumbersome as I get older and greyer, I know what you're saying though, I have done a few 10mile each way commutes on a 50cc that tops out at 25mph, I take backroads and push over foot bridges and it is quite relaxing and enjoyable at such a leisurely pace, but I know there is a fine line between enjoyable and a right royal pain, so yeah only do that when it's beautiful sun and makes a change avoiding the road works and traffic jams on the big roads..👍
Mate you’re gonna love a monkey.. I’ve been riding 30 odd years and am finding myself loving smaller capacity stuff again.. great fun.. good luck mate and let me know how you get on
@@NorthernMotovlog Just a battery tender, if that counts. I want to add those yellow lights that you see on ADV bikes, just to give cars a better chance to see me. Maybe crash bars to hold the lights. If someone made a nice rear rack I'd get one, but they all seem like junk. Have fun!
@@NorthernMotovlog Oh, and if money were no object, I'd like to change the USA tail light assembly to what you guys get. Yours looks way better, but it's like $500 in parts. Can't justify that!
Here in The States, a country to city commute of 12-15 miles would be enjoyable for me. It's not my lovely little sunny bike that would get old with everyday commuting - its the awful, inconsiderate, and dangerous auto drivers that will all but drive right over you just to arrive three minutes earlier to jobs they hate or to pick Johnny up from football practice: horrible, loveless, joy-killing people.
I know what you’re saying, country roads are amazing on a monkey bike.. I spent all weekend messing about on mine.. Don’t get me wrong I love the commute on 2 wheels it’s just I use something different so the monkey is just for pleasure..
@@NorthernMotovlog You mean the 2022 in silver and black? It looks sharp, I agree. I looked at getting a 2022, but in the silver and yellow. Mine remains my favorite of all of the last three generations of Monkey's that have come out, which is the 2019 in banana yellow. It is my little sunny bike. The color, alone, delights me. It's just so freakin' cute!
So you ride the same colour bike as me then 😂👍🏼 yeah I love it too.. yeah the silver and black is Beltin!! Might even look into getting hold of a tank and bits from America when I fancy a change.. Have you been out on yours this weekend??
Im 90% sure im getting a monkey to ride around the lanes in the summer, but i also own a Himalayan for longer rides. I'll eventually get rid of the himalayan and get something faster but still keep the monkey for lanes
@@EpicAdamMotovlogs all of that mate, you’ll always fill it for anywhere between 3 and 5 quid and you’ll get up some dirt tracks for different adventures
This is a novelty bike, one for a child to learn on, or for the old romantics of their childhood. To make it a 'sensible' daily rider is ludicrous. Plenty of options out there. Love this bike, learned how to ride 50 years ago as a ten year old,, it was 'god like' for a 10 year old. It was meant as a trail bike. Many thanks to Honda for keeping the dream alive.
It’s great fun tbf, bit marmite I reckon.. our last 125 was awesome at every day stuff including the commute but it couldn’t get you off piste like a monkey can 😂
@@CrustyBiker well I’m 13st and I’ve been down all sorts of trails on her and I’m pleasantly surprised really… that’s not to say I’m hammering it though.. are you looking at buying a monkey or already part of the revolution??

All the same mods as mine them.. I’m going back to original gearing though
Hello, in terms of maintenance and longevity, does it make sense to make this monkey a commutes when I do 15 kilometers each direction every day?
