I love how he says "generally" about things that are hard requirements for LSA, such as the number of passengers.

I remember when the light sport was real cheap, but now the FAA stretch their hand to the sport game, And now they are not so cheap any more. Good luck.

Zenith LSA have a STOL high wing and a low wing beautiful plane. They used to be in the $30,000.00

Are the Skylark and DirectFly Alto really HIGH WING?

Well, the wings are high enough so they don't touch the ground when they are on the ground

Max speed for a sport pilot is 138 mph. So the planes are not for the Sport Pilot.

Also a couple of them are over 1,320 lb which puts them out of the sport class rating. Video is a cluster f*** all around One other poster suggested that the edit it or take it down and neither one is happening. I would never subscribe to that channel

LSA speed is a don't ask don't tell kind of thing. Bristell 915 version is significantly faster but it flies as long as we don't draw attention to it.

There’s a difference between the manufacture designed max weight and the FAA certified weight. Since most light sport aircraft are imported, Sling LSA for example, the manufacturer max gross is around 1500lbs but once they imported to the States the weight is automatically reduced to 1320lbs to comply with the FAA regs. Same thing with the Vne, max designed never exceed speed by the manufacturer could be well over the FAA light sport limitation of 120kts but once imported with a N-registered call sign, it will have to comply with the 120kts Vne regardless of the manufacturer design limit, this will reflect on the POH which also require the FAA approval. However, if the aircraft is issued an experimental airworthiness cert then all the FAA light sport limitations no longer applies. So the video mainly discusses the manufacturer limitations of light sport aircraft before being imported to the States so there’s no need to trash him that hard.

Actually there's not a speed limit for the LSA

That yellow RV-6 is probably for sale now. 🤣 Gently flown never abused. Homie needs some more lessons.

Why do they always leave out Sonex Aircraft? You can buy them complete (used) from low to high $30K.

RV 6 is not an LSA. Too heavy. Powered by a Lycoming
RC 12 is an LSA with a Rotax 12.

Next year at this time, it’ll probably be eligible for LSA. I haven’t seen the clean stall speeds yet but I’m assuming it falls well within the range.

Having built an rv4, vans doesn't build an lsa they are classified as experimental. Great airplanes

I don't know what definition they are using for Light sport Aircraft in the vid but it isn't the FAA definition otherwise the Vans RV6 wouldn't qualify. Also, why did it identify each of these low-wing aircraft as high-wing? Their credibility is questionable.

The very first airplane - obviously a low wing - is described as a high wing. I do not think that the narration was well done. There are much better videos on this subject.
