      Elizabeth Taylor always fantastic...looked amazing to the end. They dont make em like that anymore.

    Elizabeth could do close ups without the camera doing close ups. The intensity and beauty of her gaze were amazing.

    The Mirror Crack'd! I saw this when it came out (1980). Hilarious to see two Hollywood goddesses 'throwing shade' at each other! Thank you, Lohengrin!

    I first learned what true bitchiness was from this movie from Novak and Taylor, and from Ustinov's 'Death On The Nile' and 'Evil Under The Sun' from Maggie Smith, Bette Davis and Diana Rigg. No one else has every been able to match them, no matter how hard they try on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram,

    ...saw this movie in its initial release back in the 80's and was disappointed it didnt view like a "major release movie" rather, second rate. Today (2023) it has aged enough to become a distant time capsule of valued snippets and nostalgia. The costumes eye catching, and the combination of the 1950's "old school" cast of performers a delight to watch even though the film itself is still a little "bumpy" ride.

    Out of all the Agatha Christie stories, this is the one that causes me the most pain. The lady was so naive but ruined another person's life--then Liz killed her in revenge which is of course inexcusable but I still really feel for her. You don't go infecting people just because they're famous, holy crap.

    • @LohengrinVintageMovies
      @LohengrinVintageMovies  2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      she didnt infect her on purpose because she was famous, she infected her because she was stupid and didnt think that u dont touch people and kiss them when u are ill... the stupidity of one person caused huge misfortune and malice to another person

      If you read Wikipedia you'll find out that the novel is inspired by a real life tragedy.

      It's based on an incident in the life of actress Gene Tierney. A fan who was in quarantine for some disease broke out and asked for her autograph. Gene was pregnant at the time, became ill and her daughter was born with severe disabilities.

      The movie is of lower caliber than ‘Orient’ or ‘Nile’ but the performance of Liz’ Taylor is spot on and is the only the saving grace of movie, besides The solid performance of Angela Lansbury again portraying a septuagenarian when she’s only in her 50’s.
