How have I never seen this movie. I'm a huge Fred Astaire fan, I love Jack Lemmon and one of the greatest beauties Kim Novak. This was a great fun movie.
Great movie ! I think the best performance that Jack Lemmon gave in a movie was { The days of wine and roses }. That movie ripped my heart out . Thanks for sharing this . Greetings from south east Alabama USA ☮️🥰
We all love the lighter side of Jack Lemmon so much but we have to acknowledge what a truly fine dramatic actor he was. He elevates any film by his mere presence.
Jack Lemmon is one of the best actors ever. I couldn't believe that I found a movie of his that I hadn't seen. This is a great movie, just like every movie he has ever done!
Kim Novak was my heartthrob when I was 11. Along with Annette Funicello,Sandra Dee, Tuesday Weld, and Hayley Mills. The last 4 were much nearer my age. But Bell, Book and Candle with Stewart, Lemmon, and Novak, WOW
I thought I had seen every movie Jack Lemmon had ever done. This was truly a treat to enjoy. I hope future generations will always enjoy his body of work. He was certainly a member of the best Hollywood will ever have to offer! RIP Jack.
What a great movie. Jack Lemmon and Kim Novak turned this delightful movie into a riot, filled with murder, intrigue, romance and a comedy ending that made this a wonder to be watched over again. Thanks for this truly wonderful posting. Joe S
It became interesting when Fred Astaire appeared. It became lively. The pace changed. He is an exciting performer even when not dancing. This is a slightly different Astaire role. I’m in the midddle of movie, I haven’t finished it yet 😅
Wonderful, wonderful movie.Best actors in top form, production values and direction fantastic, obviously everyone involved, including this audience, had a grand time. Thanks!!! Hope the lovely Kim Novak watches this movie at least often enough to experience just a bit of the delight it gives to everyone else.
Films made by Americans seem to think black cabs are used all over England. When in reality they are only used in London and I think Manchester. Admittedly a very few view are used in other places but most taxis outside London are normal road cars.
53:50. Can you imagine being able to afford steaks like that in 2024? That's at the very least $60 of beef. Every piece of beef I've cooked at home has been tough as leather for the last decade. Standard techniques for tenderizing don't seem to help much. Good thing I like pork and chicken. Nothing beats a thick pork steak grilled to perfection.
Update: i can't believe all the negativity. I liked the movie, OKAY??? I typically don't like British films, or Kim Novak, or Jack Lemmon, and yet I enjoyed this movie SO MUCH!!! I highly recommend it.
When my sister lived in Saudi Arabia there was no alcohol in the country. They were still beheading royal daughters for being royal pains in the butt back then. She had a driver and a servant who did most of the household shopping. Women weren't allowed to drive. She did not have to be covered head to toe as a foreigner but it was sometimes safer to cover her blonde hair. They were also very security minded concerning their blue eyed, blonde little girl. They lived in Sumatra for a while, too. Her hubby was an oil company engineer. The textiles she brought back to me! Oh, my golly! Batik, wood block prints, all hand dyed and printed.
18:50. She has her dress on backwards. I'm glad I'm not the seamstress putting Ms Novak's design together. This piece is beautifully made and fits her properly but weird. Wondering what color it was. The fabric looks to be a heavier weight than I might have chosen. I'm a bit of an amateur fashion historian and revel in the clothing in these old movies. The cars, the interiors of buildings. But especially the cut and drape of women's clothing.
As an historian, you should know that the dress was meant to look backward. It was a trend during that time. Cardigans, dresses, and even belts with the buckle facing the back were popular.
She retired from show business decades ago. Married her horse's veterinarian & has a good life away from Hollywood. Unfortunately, she had plastic surgery that did not go well & our narcissistic republican presidential candidate made fun of her after she presented at the Academy Awards ceremony.
About this crappy one: screenplay co-written by Blake Edwards (....) and, more astonishing yet, Kim Novak's wardrobe just designed by herself... A camp pearl!
Absolutely wonderful film! Jack Lemmon & Kim Novak are adorable and on fire! So is Fred Astaire. A perfect cast all around.
Watching this because I am sick of the Presidential race. Thank you for the upload.
I certainly understand that, both parties are so corrupt, bought off by corporations,Healthcare system.
You should have more likes than only 14!!!😊

A lot of people went thru hell to give us the right to vote, so I hope u do. I watch old movies and TV shows to make me feel better too.

Me to! i thought i have seen every Fred movie ever a million times. Apparently not😊
Can’t stand Fred. He could dance but he could neither sing nor act.
@@Woodman-Spare-that-treewhat nonsense!
Fred Astaire's 1st dramatic role in On The Beach was also something to speak about.
@@Woodman-Spare-that-treeTry On The Beach his first dramatic role.

Quite the entertaining movie love the older actors and actresses glamour and brains 👍
I adore Kim Novak
This film has all the great British and American actors rolled in one pa😊cage thank you.
A very entertaining,fun movie to watch.Thank you,for showing it!
Kim Novak must have gone to the same voice coach as Dick Van Dyke for her English accent 😂
😂
A whole lot better school than Kevin Costner went to for his English accent😂
Funny!
Absolutely no school at all that one. Made a mockery of Robin Hood!
Dreadful.
Lovely film, thanks for uploading it 👍
Thanks.!!❤ More Jack Lemmon movies, PLEASE.!!❤❤🙂

Me too, I had never seen this movie before, loved it
Luv this and operation mad ball Something about the writing and direction gives the actors room to showcase their talent. Enjoyed this very much.
Lional Jeffries too! What an iconic voice he had.
Thank you. Lovely film!
Old Hollywood🌟❤️🥰❤️🌟
All movies of film noir were clean without any bad language or vulgarity.
Excellent light hearted thriller. Great narrative. Good twists and turns. Kept me on my toes. Wonderful score. Lovely cast. ❤
You can't go wrong with this cast.
Kim Novak.
Jack Lemmon.
Fred Astaire.
Lionel Jeffries.
Also screenplay by Blake Edwards.

Yep, this movie was a nice surprise
Unexpected gift from TH-cam algorithm ...

Black and white, colorized, technicolor or high definition, a good story and great acting are what makes a great film.
I love the ending turning into a screwball comedy.

Fun movie indeed
They credit the music to George Dunning yet the whole soundtrack is Gershwin's "A Foggy Day".
Yeah I noticed that to
Beautiful film. Black and White😊
Brilliant film, nuf said.
😂😂Jack always th rows comedic humor in

Ya la vi es muy buena película y creo que me voy a quedar a verla de nuevo 👌
I was so worried that she was going to keep the accent up for the whole movie😂
Another USA movie i have not seen in my 66 years in southern CA........ fun movie

Ah, such fun with some great actors.. so good to have these classy movies to entertain
Where's Perry Mason when you need an attorney with insight😮

1962 Great Movie 💚🙏😇🙏💚
Has to be some kind of a record for 5 second commercials. Won't stick around if I see this again.
Funny 🤣
Fred looks v attractive
A very enjoyable film, ruined by the incessant ads. I found Juan’s upload to be far freer of them
Did they finally catch poor Mrs Dunhill?
I saw this movie a year back and enjoyed watching it again. Kim was hot and lovely.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Please colorize this
One of my favorite movies - and I'm no Kim Novack fan.
It’s all a joke, except Jack Lemon 🍋, whom my Dad knew

Feels like Gelbart wrote most of the main story, and then handed off to Edwards for the last ten minutes. Wacky.
This movie couldn't be any more american, BBQ and children with guns?
Who is the actress?
Kim Novak

I have forgotten Don Lemmon. He was one of the best. Perfect timing. The director was pretty good too. And writers. Just a feel good movie.
Jack Lemmon. Don Lemmon is a TV host and commentator.
@annemccarron2281 oops my bad.
Interesting a shot from 33? Evil number
This is one funny movie I love it
Ah, English humor.

😲 Unfortunately, a rude Commercial. Break every 5 minutes 🥴
🇮🇳🇮🇳👍
They even got the car number plates wrong.
So OBVIOUS that the B actors are billed out and given as A list while the opposite is true in reverse.
CANNOT be the only with eyes to see.

Agree, that was a dumb idea
About this crappy one: screenplay co-written by Blake Edwards (....) and, more astonishing yet, Kim Novak's wardrobe just designed by herself... A camp pearl!
The first 90% of this movie is very good. But the ending is really stupid.
Jack Lemmon can be annoying, and Kim Novac's characters are always hiding
Kim Novak is too non-schalant to be cute and Jack Lemmon is too annoying to be respected.
