No Drill Tilting Solar Panel on a Truck Camper!

  • As soon as I got my used Cirrus 620 I realized that the built in solar panel wasn't enough for my needs up here in the North East, especially with the low sun angle and short days of winter. So: I built a no-drill tilting solar panel rig from a 100 watt panel, 2x gas struts for a trunk or hood, 10mm mounting balls for those struts, and a tilting solar panel mount designed for permanent tilt all attached by VHB tape. Here's how it works and what the results are.

Great job and great idea for not drilling, just using double sided sticky tape.
I too am wanting to put solar panels on the top of my truck canopy and not drilling into the fiberglass canopy.
Thank you for your great idea and using double sided tape. 👍🙂

Not drilling is always an excellent method. Did you consider using a higher wattage panel?

@@stahpit1971 the charge controller and wiring was for a 200 watt setup and I was space constrained so only the 100 watts. For more power I have a 200w solar suitcase that goes to a separate charge controller. Only need it on the winter though- for summer this is more than enough.
