I'm 71 years old and when I lived in Alexandria, Virginia, I visited the Gettysburg Battlefield many, many times. On July 3rd, 1988, I visited Gettysburg on the 125th anniversary of the great battle. I decided to walk the path of Pickett's Charge from where the Virginians left their positions on Seminary Ridge all the way across the field to the so-called High Water Mark on Cemetery Ridge. Now, please understand that what I'm about to tell you happened in broad daylight with lots of people milling around the Copse of Trees, Cemetery Ridge, and The Angle. As I was standing there, looking back toward the Lee Monument on Seminary Ridge, I began to hear faint noises of gunshots and cannon fire. I looked around to see if a reenactment was going on but nobody else was reacting. I then began to smell the odor of gunsmoke, and hear screams and shouts, which again, no one else was noticing. At that point, I backed away from where I was standing and what I had been experiencing stopped. In subsequent trips back to Gettysburg, I never experienced any of that again. Years later in 1996, as I was cleaning out the house of my recently passed Mother, I stumbled across letters and pictures of people I knew nothing about. I began to research my Mother's family lines at that point in time and discovered that she had several Confederate Virginia relatives who were present at Pickett's Charge, one of whom was wounded and captured. This individual was my Mom's great-uncle, who died at the Fort Delaware POW camp and is buried across the river at the Finn's Point National Cemetery. Coincidence? I think not.

I believe you’re experience. I’ve seen an apparition that defied the laws of reality as we understand them. However, on the weekend of July 3rd, 1988, there was a large national event that going on. The 125th anniversary reenactment was one of the largest reenactments of that time. I believe only topped by the 135th anniversary in 1998. I participated in that one. Could it have been possible that the artillery, rifles and yelling you heard could’ve come from the field a crossed and behind the trees of the actual pickets charge battlefield?

Glad you posted this. Tbh, I think hubris accounts for a lot of those who give no credence to any paranormal accounts. There are just too many reports from folks with impeccable credentials - even ones with multiple witnesses.
Here's to peaceful crossing over for the lost souls still roaming at Gettysburg.

I love Gettysburg. A friend and I went and spent a day going all over the battlefield. I don’t think we saw any ghosts but I sure felt like we were being watched and followed. Many times something would brush up against me and nothing was there. I would hear someone talking but no one was there. My friend said I was just imagining things but I’ve experienced things before.

Mark is a former ranger at Gettysburg who has seen it all. He is a great storyteller and wonderful guide. I had the truly wonderful experience of going to Culp’s Hill with him on July 2nd 1998, during the 135th reenactment ,in full Confederate uniform of the 32nd North Carolina Infantry. My girlfriend was from New Jersey and was told by voices twice to leave. I as a TarHeel was very “welcomed”. Very cool experience. Gettysburg is a wonderful place and should be on every bucket list.

As a young Marine in 1981, I was stationed at Nav/Com. Capas Tarlac in the Philippines. We did two man patrols guarding the antennas that communicated with the 7th fleet. The patrols were 6 hrs. Long at night walking in the South fields of Camp Donald the prison camp of the survivors of the Bataan Death March...so much torture, beheadings, and starvation not to mention the disease's. Many a night we heard screaming from far off yet close to us. I heard a Platoon sized unit walking through the elephant grass but never saw them..I saw an apparition of a world war soldier walking towards me in torn up utilities American. Then just vanished on the very road they walked...
I believe many times spirits stay behind when they die in anguish...Ghosts, spirits, or whatever you want to call them, do exist. My heart goes out to these lost souls...

Great video. I visited Gettysburg battlefield years ago with my family and hope to return one day. I'd like to walk the field at Pickett's Charge, hike to the Round Top, and walk through Devil's Den. Also, to visit the cemetery and visitor's center. I understand the Gettysburg visitor's center is very modern with sophisticated battle displays.
The story of the soldier at Little Round Top giving the ammo is chilling. I totally believe in ghosts and hope to see one someday. At the same time, I would be so scared if I ever do see one - isn't that crazy ?

I was never firm believer but used to think that if I ever saw a ghost I'd tell everyone & make a huge deal but when it did I said nothing to nobody it was a very special thing in my life I cherish & saved for myself & I gotta say to everyone there are without doubt things , spirits or energy whether intelligent or not in this world we simply cannot explain & probably will never fully comprehend the true nature of our existence until we see what's next. I doubt it ends for us.

I was an infantryman in Viet Nam in 68/69 before getting 'med-evac'd" out..One night we slept on high ground, a cemetary, and my comrades and I saw shades..My wife and I went to Little Round Top July 3 1988, and on the ground of intense fighting, she was thrown to the ground by an invisible force, and she heard a warning to stay down, because of a "sniper up there"...I saw and heard nothing.......She refused to go to any more Civil War battlefields with me. But, being 1/2 Native American, she went with me to Little Big Horn, and saw and was spoken to by native warrior spirits, though she speaks no native tongue...Gettysburg was a horrendous bloodbath, and no wonder there is so much spirit activity there.

Went to gettysburg one time just to see where I died; and apologizing the whole time for the men I caused to get killed. Sgt. Union side. I layed on the rocks smoking a cigarette; and fell asleep. When I woke up it was dark taps were playing. I stood in the direction of the sound and saw noone. I remember the sweltering heat and humidity and how I can't stand wool to this day. I proceeded to walk into town in pitch black darkness somehow knowing exactly where to go. One women in period dress was in a crowd standing with a group of people doing a ghost tour. Caught about 8 minutes of the ending. As the crowd dispersed the woman stood alone. Our eyes locked for we recognized each other. I complemented her on how beautiful she looked. I apologized for leaving her and the kids. I said Rebecca I will always love you. I gave her a double saw buck as we both cried and gave each other a hug. There is no need to return to gettysburg ever again for the pain is too great and we must move on. The smell of death that still lingers in the air; the screaming; the smoke and the flies is too much to bear. The wandering dead who don't know they are dead and you see them everywhere reenacting; threatening; moving; listening; watching. 24-7. Always on patrol.

It's like the worst wars where recorded somehow .in the English civil war one particular battle was not only recorded but the battle (days after the actual battle) people witnessed in the sky the battle some even could pick out soldiers they knew ,the king got to hear about it and sent a representative and they also witnessed the sky battle but the funny thing was they recognized people who was friends but didn't die that day but was still shown in this recording of war.

Mark Nesbitt, have you done any research on Old Baldy? He was Union General George Mead’s horse during The Battle of Gettysburg. Well, outlived The War and lead his Rider’s funeral procession, and died 10 years after that. Well, 2 Weeks after he was buried, a group of Veterans dug him up, severed his head, and his head was stuffed and mounted, and is now in Philadelphia. What utter disrespect! Did those Veterans who did that to the body of a Civil War General’s horse have no respect for the dead?! Shame, shame, shame!

the human body consists of chemical and electrical energy, the chemical energy dies with the body, yet electrical energy its a scientific fact that electrical energy can not be destroyed , so im thinking theres one hell of an imprint of that energy like a foot print, the foot steps are there but the ones who left them are far gone,....
