We've already contacted Disney and gotten the permit paperwork started with the Bahamas but this is going to be SO helpful to calm my fears about what to expect. Thank you so much!
I really enjoy your videos about life with a guide dog, so thanks! I’m also albino and just in the process of getting a guide dog. Out of curiosity, what is your visual acuity? And how did you manage all the sun on the cruise without getting burned?
My vision is around 20/200 in my good eye, but I can't see anything when it's bright outside, which is the main reason why I have my dog. Honestly I always get a little sunburnt on a cruise, but I try to avoid it as much as possible! I wear long sleeve rash guard when swimming and of course I wear good sun screen and reapply often. For the most part, I stay inside on the cruise so I'm out of the sun. There are usually fun events, shows, and games happening on the boat inside that I enjoy doing. But yeah, when I'm on the beach I use rash guard, sunscreen, and still inevitably will get a little burnt around the edges.

Yeah my issue isn’t the kids. I have adults who insist on petting my dog. I even tell them petting distracts then he can’t do his job. They still insist. I tell them no and most times they ‘sneak’ a pet. Fortunately, my dog doesn’t distract easily but that’s not the point.

On both sides it reads "Service Dog / Do Not Distract," then there are three pictures indicating "no touch, no talk, no eye contact." The middle panel, which is on his back, has a stop sign and says "Working / Keep Back." The cape is fluorescent yellow with black lettering and some details of the pictures in red. It is made of a study, heavy duty fabric. I think it just feels like normal cotton fabric or something like that? I don't really know my fabrics well haha. All of the lettering and pictures are embroidered on. It just velcros on to the back strap of his harness right under the loops holding the handle in place, then once it's on his harness it clips under his belly.

Can’t wait to see more videos in the future!!! Where did you get his doggy earmuffs. We have a puppy that’s scared of many noises especially 18 wheelers at potty stops on road trips.

Hi Kay! I saw where you have a pack or crate for your service dog on the ship? Where did you get it? What about getting it on the ship was there an issue or how did you get it allowed on the ship with you? Was it a problem? I have a service dog now who is getting ready to retire he is a German Shepherd but I am getting as another puppy that is going to be trained that is a Golden Retriever and I love going on cruises and will want to take my new one on a cruise. I always have went my current service. Just lay on the floor and sleep at night without a crate or anything but I'm thinking about doing this for the new one from now on with a crate on the ship is a good idea! I also was going to give you an idea I don't know if you can do it with being blind but I was told I could leave my service dog in the room but just leave the do not disturb hanger on the door & she'd be fine & no one would enter. Just a suggestion if you go on another Cruise. I was told this by the great that trains service dogs that I went on my first cruise with and by the cruise line that we were on that we could do this also. they won't know if you are in there or not so they won't bother trying to come in the room.

We are starting the process of filing paperwork with the bahamas and I am looking for more insight. Was the process super complicated? How long did it take to receive your approval documents? We are visiting Nassau and CC but not doing any excursions. This is our 3rd disney cruise but first with our SA. Anxiously awaiting your next video!
It wasn't too bad, but it did take a while to get our documents mailed from the Bahamas. After we got the paperwork, the Vet just had to fill it out and we sent it to Disney. Just make sure to get it to Disney in time (I believe it was 4 days before sailing, but I could be wrong) and bring plenty of extra copies with you to be safe.

No. A service dog should never be aggressive at all. My dog is always very concerned about me and wants to make sure I'm okay. He never lets me out of his sight around the house, but he has never and would never do anything "protective" in the sense that he would never hurt anyone or try to physically protect me. He is just very attentive to me.

Yes, I take a towel when traveling too.
The only problem I have is when it’s a hard floor cus, she circles so it gets all crumpled up.
