Zum Abstimmen der Supra sind wir auf eine stillgelegte Airbase gefahren, da man auf öffentlichen Strassen leider nicht das ganze Potenzial dieses Fahrzeuges ausnutzen kann. Trotz Semislicks hatte die Supra durch den Fahrbahnzustand (sehr staubig u. Plattenzwischenräume), zu keiner Zeit volle Traktion. Die gemessenen Werte können sich trotzdem sehen lassen.

People need to keep in mind that the supra stopped production in 98. Not many cars that old are that fast.

Thing about that Z06 is it slams you back into the seat hard! I rode in one of theses and it was awesome. So cant imagine how incredible it feels to ride in that Supra! Great video thanks for posting!

I just got my '98 Supra yesterday and I just can't stop staring at it. I'm not an experienced car enthusiast, but I do love cars. Just got the Supra as a late birthday present because my parents ordered it off eBay for around 20k. I'm really fortunate having such a beautiful piece of machinery, I just wish everyone could have the experience of driving one themselves =]

@FireSarge30 True but how many times will you be able to reach 200 in a track run? And these are 2 completly different power setups inline 6 = more hp plus turbo means more power @ top end. V8's are awsome at 0-60 times after that can't compete with forced induction from a turbo.

What kind of BOV does that Supra have? It's almost a squeek/whoosh noise combo. It's unique and I really like it. Or is that noise when he shifts because he has a dog box? Don't dog boxes make sort of a high pitched "bark" noise when you shift?

A MK IV Supra was 50-60k in 1995. That is not 'cheap'. And that was 15 years ago. What is 55k back then worth now? 85k?

If u think alitle about what you just said, that would be the same as the movie is just now only reversed. The supra beeing left behind. Only if they were tuned to match eachothers HP would it be a "fair" race.

@JDMforever11 Vinny Ten's supra is tubbed if I'm not mistaken, that's like bringing paul major's Z06 which ran a 7.11 at 204 on drag radials boost only lol fully street legal from that run. BL and Titan's supras neither are full interior, you've obvously never taken a look inside them, and BL's isn't a stock body, rear fenders have been widened to fit those 13in wide tires their running.
@quickzilver333 if we are talking about the nurinburg the track was semiwet and the driver was being a little cauious because the zr1 will rotate at the slightest overthrottle with all that torque the gtr has the advantage being awd i want to see it in drier conditions where i think the zr1 would flat domoniate and did the zr1 have on competion mode for the suspension which has proven to make the car go faster than the driver can go with it off
What's the maximum output of a properly tuned corvette? I wanna compare it with the supra.
@CyberGTX09 The one I am talking about was a twin turbo underground racing Viper and it put down over 2300 horsepower at the wheels on the dyno. I think it was also on Nitrous and for sure was running C16 race gas. Underground racing works on many Vipers and Lambos. They have a few Twin turbo lambos for sale on ebay right now.
Its all what you like yes. There is always going to be something faster. Yes I also agree just enjoy it.
@Curveball MKIV Supras were more around the $45-55K range. And yes it wasn't cheap but neither was its competitors. The 400hp (then) 1993 Dodge Viper was $90K. the Base C4 was $45K and the C4 ZR-1 was $55-60K. It was priced fairly back then.
@91battlered What are you talking about? Please read carfully what I wrote. The GTR ran 7:24 SEMI-WET CONDITION. While the Zr1 ran 7:26 "DRY CONDITION". Which means the 2012 GTR could have ran faster if it was "DRY CONDITION" but it never had a chance to do so.
The New 2012 Zr1 ran 7:19:63 which beat the 2012 GTR ran on a SEMI-WET condition. The 2012 ZR1 was also running on a modified Michilen Pilot Racing Tires. It was modified to make it legal on the road.
@07Z06ss I'd say it would have some relevance, especially when you consider that this is the Hi Po version of the corvette, with an extra liter of displacement, plus, carbon and aluminum replacing steel in the chassis. PLUS, its much newer, and cars have gotten much faster since the mid 90's. They never did a Hi Po version of the supra.

Yeah, the 1987 Buick GNX has a 3.8 turbo V-6 that put out 300hp. Some say it was more like 350hp, but I often heard 300hp.
There are many Buick Grand Nationals and GNX's out there with four figure hp numbers.
@Curveball Sorry to tell you but the 2012 GTR beat the ZR1 around the nurburgring and is still expected to cost less than the ZR1. They added more power, improved the suspension, aero and reduced the weight by 200lbs. It also does 0-60 in 2.9 seconds. Nissan did their homework and it shows.
@Curveball Check your messages. It did a 7:24 on the nurburgring. Note that the time was on a wet track too. As I said before Nissan did their homework when upgrading the GTR.
That Supra is f-ing amazing! how much do you have in upgrades on it?
@ModMob I'm just saying the price it takes to get that power now a days is alot, I mean what a new Zo6 even go for. Toyota was way ahead of their time when they made the 2JZ-GTE an engine itself can handle 800+Hp. Video doesn't state what the Supra has done, Obv a single turbo, and most likely a slight fuel upgrade. But I'm guessing thats around 600whp which is pretty easy to archive with that with little mods, just turn up the boost.

@WS6Fbody They are stndard for the 2012ZR1 as a matter of fact thats why the Pilot Sports Cup tires came from a track only version. It was modified to make it legal for the road. Watch the documentary before they drove the 2012Zr1 at Nurburgring.

Love the song. Love the Z06. Best thing America have done. Took em a while though.. lol. As for the Supra, what can you say, they were so ahead of there time. Such a great all round car.

bhp IS crank horsepower...whp IS NOT bhp. wheel horsepower is actual horsepower made to the wheels, while bhp is horsepower made at the brakes- same with crank horsepower.
does anyone know the year of that supra?

The C6-Z06 uses the Corvette C6-R racing block. It is ready for tons of power. It already has 505hp stock. A 200 shot of juice and you're 705hp. Very cheap and very simple.
@sirrloin There's alot of TT vettes that can walk supras, just depends on who mods more, more boost etc.
@crazyphilly555 Both of those turbos are old and laggy. I would recommend a billet 6765. Its about the size of a Greddy T78 with less lag, a better powerband and makes as much power as the T88.

It's funny reading some of these comments. Even though you just watched the video, you still can't fathom a modified Supra beating a Corvette. It happens guys. Deal with it. lol The Supra is pushing 700hp and the Vette is pushing 513hp. The Vette just doesn't have the power to win. I have a modified 2007 C6. I win some and I lose some. I don't lie awake at night worrying to much about it. Great video guys. Thank you.

@iiinitr0 thank you for acknowledging the vette is faster stock, as for the second part of you statement , a lot depends on the driver too. if you gave me a stock zr1 vs supra i dont care where we are at or what track, i will dust you (also i think the 2010 zr1 set the 2cd fastest all time record at the neuronburg track. that is a versitile track )
My tuner's car makes 1,000+ rwhp on a Mustang Dyno on 18 pounds of boost, runs mid to low 8's in the quarter, can be turned up to 24 pounds with the boost dial, runs off pump gas, and has an inspection sticker on it. What's your point?
@PrettyBoy2142 There's an 01 Z06 3 owners with only 78k miles on Ebay with 1 hour 11 minutes left it has 572rwhp, it has heads/cam full exhaust and a procharger and all supporting mods. Owner said it had a conservative daily driver tune at 572rwhp and it can do way more with an more aggressive tune....and did I mention it's at no reserve with the highest bid so far being at $19,062.00? NUFF' SAID!
@MangoSmoothie16 nothing if you're driving an economy car. anything over about 300hp will likely have torque steer, and slightly less acceleration (more noticeable as HP increases)

Are you talking about the Underground Racing Twin Turbo Viper with 1500HP? Well it's a fast car I must say, but the kit itself is too expensive. I mean $95,000 for a Stage 3 Turbo System with Highly Modified Engine? The Alpha 12 GTR is rated at 1400HP, but only 1069 AWHP. Since the GTR is also AWD, it has the advantage from the dig when it accelerates, ya know?
Well each car company has its advantages and disadvantages, I guess. It's best not to argue about it, but rather enjoy.

You can get more for less out of a corvette. So what is your point?
@FireSarge30 not really HEAVILY modified but decently modified. The stock supra engine block is known to withstand tremendous amounts of boost and power levels up to 800whp on the stock engine. So if anything the only modifications are bigger single turbo and full bolt-ons with tune. The only engine mod's are probably cams. Remember a new stock z06 costs around $70,000 and a supra costs around $30-40k and the mods are probably $10,000 total... but the z06 is nice.
Sorry to break it to you but the one I'm talking about was running 2200 horsepower and wont be found on the underground racing website because it was a car that someone modded on top of what was already done to it. It was sold on Ebay a few years back and at the time was one of the fastest cars in the standing mile.I don't just run my mouth without valid facts to support anything I say.

Even thought the Vette is N/A but it has a big V8 that can be the equivalent, to have an advantage. Supra's stock 1/4 is in the 13 and the Z06 is in the 12s. Fair if you ask me unless the Supra is a 10sec or 9 sec car over a 12.

How do we really know the Z06 is stock. We're just assuming.
@NightRush Why? Add about 20lbs of boost to the vette. Give them both the same displacement and the same gears, so we can watch them stay side by side the whole time....boring

the vette does not do 330kmh, the new zr1 does about 325kmh (which is the fastest corvette isn't it?) maybe if it is tuned from stock
@MangoSmoothie16 nah.. you can get this z06 for 40k used.. alot of money considering a 6speed stock turboed supra goes for 20k+ not including mods.. so there isnt to much of price difference..
I'm impressed how close the z06 followed behind a stripped out, highly modded supra.

It just takes a test drive. There were a lot of cars I thought I would like before I drove them. But after driving them, I stopped liking them. (Like the GTR)
I was not expecting to like the R8 V8 because I knew it lacked power. But My God....as soon as I sat in it....it was stunning. It handles a lot better than I thought it would too. And there are several supercharger options and many TT options for it if you desire.
So far, the R8 is my favorite car.

@japslapr For the most part, yes but it's really about the speed of the piston moving up and down. If you've got a long stroke you don't want to rev as high but in theory you could create a big displacement engine with really fat bores and short strokes and rev it to hell and back.
Incredible how much power can be made with that 2jz engine. It's just amazing.
@Curveball Negative the cheapest way to make power is to get a foxbody mustang. Even cheaper than a Camaro.

Believe or not, N/A engines are almost dying due to tougher emissions.
@Curveball bottom line is that you are not going to make 700 whp with a 200 shot. you'll make around 600whp. The stock bottom end becomes iffy with a C6 Z06 at 700whp due to forced induction on thin cylinder walls. This is what happens when you put heads/cam and a 200shot on a stock LS7 /watch?v=wXFQyPUHfhg

I love all my cars n/a, turbo etc, being a Honda fan & having that nice N/A power. Soon I will be upgrading from a Honda to a V8 & continue with the N/A path! :D I will always love my true JDM Honda :). N/A power all the way!

@glo0322 Don't know why Toyota stopped making them but a few upgrades to the Supra v.s. the price of these Newer Vetts.. and its still taking them. And now the parts to mod these new model vetts, its gunna be money. 2J parts have been around a while and a bit cheaper.

@LEXSC51 you could just as easily boost the Z06.. Ligenfelter has and it makes like 1100hp.. but you're right about the 2JZ it makes as much hp as the LS1 Camaro or Trans Am so really it was a drivers race.. ive seen one driving around where I live but I haven't gotten the Chance to race him in my 02 Z28.

@lokrat2 ok ill give you that the vette is faster stock,but by how much?The corvette Z06 runs 0-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds and 1/4 mile in 11.8 seconds at 122 mph.And the Supra runs 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds and 1/4 mile in 12.9 seconds at 109 mph.And that's a 7.0 vs 3.0 and only around 1 second between the two.I still say the Supra wins.plus with stock motor on the Supra all you have to do is turn-up boost and both will run about the same time.
