      @Loki &Loki The narcissism and blatant racism in your comment is disgusting to say the least. I'm African, we wouldn't have languages with scripts and alphabets just for the joy of it. • @GlareBoxTV
      @GlareBoxTV 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      @Loki &Loki The thing is, why does the lack of full/complete/formal writing systems get pinned solely on Africa when many other cultures didn't have their own indigenous form of writing and communication? Oral tradition was present elsewhere.

    • @GlareBoxTV
      @GlareBoxTV 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Loki &Loki There is no contradiction. Comments like yours tend to have a particular focus on Africa, making it out to be some backwards outlier for lacking a writing system when as mentioned, there were other cultures that were in a similar situation, also relying on Oral tradition.
      It also is rather lazy of you (and reveals your mindset) to throw about the term 'lazy' in your description of a people because they did things differently to others.

      Ramses 3 showed up with the same results.
      "These results indicate that both Ramesses III and Unknown Man E (possibly his son Pentawer) shared an ancestral component with present day populations of Sub-Saharan Africa.... A previous issue of DNA Tribes Digest identified African related ancestry for King Tut and other royal mummies from the Amarna Period. In this issue, results indicate that the later pharaoh Ramesses III also inherited alleles that are most frequent in present day populations of Sub-Saharan Africa. This provides additional, independent evidence of Sub-Saharan African ancestry (possibly among several ancestral components) for pharaonic families of ancient Egypt.....In addition, these DNA match results in present day world regions might in part express population changes in Africa after the time of Ramesses III. In particular, DNA matches in present day populations of Southern Africa and the African Great Lakes might to some degree reflect genetic links with ancient populations (formerly living closer to New Kingdom Egypt) that have expanded southwards in the Nilotic and Bantu migrations of the past 3,000 years (see Figure 1)"

    The denial of African history is a pillar of white supremacy. The fact that the British aren't returning the art to Benin is part of that white supremacy too --- it displays a perception that Benin/African people are under control of Britain --- to British citizens and tourist visiting the museum. All these efforts were originally formed when it became fully aware that Pythagoras, Archimedes, Euclid learned math/science/philosophy from the Kemetians. All this hatred/jealousy/distortion because of pride and not wanting to admit that the African people were the source of the enlightenment and the economic saviors of Europe / the "new world" as a whole --- LoL. White supremacy is basically hating how everything unfolded in history and hoping to lie about it to make yourself feel better. ;P Pride comes before a great fall.

By comparison with the art that was being made in europe during that time (1180 - 1897) and the benin kingdom, the art from the benin kingdom was considerably less impressive so I would think they had every right to think so. The Sahara desert can and have always been traversed and if the Europeans could come to Africa then the Africans should also have come to Europe but i guess that´s rather difficult if you haven´t even invented the boat. Africa was only an important trading hub for Africans, and then to Europeans when they arrived but still India and China was a much more valuable trade hub. And you say yourself that you´ve never even had a written language after thousands of years that´s rather pathetic. And don´t ever compare Japanese with an average IQ of 110 to Africans with an average IQ of around 70, that´s insulting to the Japanese.

    • @torodensson1331
      @torodensson1331 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Bro9650 The thing is that humans are supposed to have originated from Africa so Africans should have been first with everything not the other way around as it is. Ofcourse Japan got most of it´s language from China as humans settled in Japan moving eastwards from China, same thing with Greeks from Phoenicians, and also these peoples are genetically similar which Africans and Arabs aren´t. Latin is a European language and the Latin letters are the ones were using now.

      You know the Republic of Benin and Nigeria (Benin Kingdom) are different, right? The country of Benin has no connection to Benin City in modern Nigeria, nor to the Benin Bronzes. Benin kingdom may have included parts of the present-day Republic of Benin at some point, but the main area of the Benin Kingdom was in south-west Nigeria e.g. Benin city. That's where these were stolen from and that's where the Oba (King) resided. Many present-day countries took inspiration from the past kingdoms or empires. Before the present day Ghana was called Ghana, they took inspiration from The Ghana Empire ( c. 700 until c. 1240), properly known as Wagadou and present-day southeastern Mauritania and western Mali.

      @OMEGA LOLActually Mansa Musa made his wealth off the gold mines in his territory, and the taxes of all trade goods imported/exported and travelling through his realm.
      The Arabs at this time were soley dependant mainly on acquiring their black slaves from their East African City States. i.e Kilwa, Malindi, Zanzibar, Madagascar, Mombasa etc...
      They had quicker access to captives from the interior and trade routes crossing the Indian ocean with slaves during the monsoon season than having to travel or aquire captives from all the way over on the other side across the continent.
      Some slaves however from Mali did make their way north to the Berber territories, however it was GOLD, TAXES n TRIBUTE not slaves that made Mansa Musa the Wealthiest man who ever lived.
      If he had sold all his neighbours, he could he have "continually" make money from them??

      My point is and will always be that he made his wealth from being the worlds most notable provider of gold and the monies he accumulated coming in
      out of his Realm. Did he have slaves YES. Did he gain his wealth specifically as you claim by selling off all his neighbours n his own people NO.
      I supported my claim with facts on specific peoples, time frame, methods and geographic locations.
      All I'm hearing from you is emotion with nothing to back up the your claims.
      I'll leave you to your world.

    WE ARE WHO WE ARE
    (1) The Edo Monarchy is not any ordinary monarchy, it is a spiritual institution and the Oba is a deity. He is referred to as the personification of ”ErhimwinIdu” or ”The Spirit of Edo.” There are layers and layers of palace societies around him. They check and balance each other.
    (2) When the entire empire is threatened, these societies become one major force together with the people. This existed before the British came and continued after. It is beyond politics or local governance. It is a belief system and way of life.
    (3) The Oba doesn't get power, he is power. He was born as ”ErhimwinIdu” and no Oba has ever passed away before they get on the throne. The shortest reign was of an Oba who was killed by accident during his coronation ceremony by a stay arrow to his forehead. He was already crowned.
    (4) The line of succession has remained unbroken for generations. It is not something we joke with. Each family also has a family shrine or Ukhure where we also trace our lineage. The Ukhure of Benin is the monarchy and there is a priest who keeps the records.
    (5) I explained once that the stolen artifacts by the British are not decorations but records. We kept our records in 3D. Christianity came and saw it as ”idolatory” but the same Christian Missionaries came from places with monarchies and records. Charlemagne saved those records.
    (6) He used Catholic Monks to keep a record of all local practices. Most of the history of Europe would have been lost without the Catholic Church and Charlemagne. The Portuguese came to Edo long before the British and respected our culture. They even gained from it.
    (7) The battle of 1897 was really to erase something the British feared and I think it was Portuguese influence. Oba Esigie spoke Portuguese and the Edo Monarchy had a long history with Portugal. This is why even the crown prince commands great respect by our Federal Governments.
    (8) The British couldn't replace Oba Ovoramwen after the war and they couldn't kill him. They deported him and there was no peace until his son who became Eweka II took over. He rebuilt the monarchy and was great grandfather to Oba Ewuare II.The British couldn't replace Oba Ovoramwen after the war and they couldn't kill him. They become rich and expand their business, while he suffers in silence. His own nieces and nephews now have a pay a high price for bread their own uncle baked. Just a story you say, and you might be correct, except Europe still has Africa’s ‘freshly baked bread’ and we are still in servitude.

      Soon (and it's already started) it will be China who will plunder the resources of Africa. If you spend all your time railing against the past you just might miss the dangers that lie ahead. Wealth is power and I know many wish that whites (as if we all share the same culture and beliefs) are going to dissapear but even if we did does that automatically make African or American blacks situation any better? Do you believe that the south Asians, middle eastern and Chinese will share that wealth? They are the ones gaining it faster than anyone after all and will your lot in life improve automatically or will you have a new adversary that feels no guilt or remorse? I'm not British by the way and my people (because once again whites aren't a singular group) have been on the losing end dealing with them but we've moved on, hopefully you can do the same but it takes hard work,ingenuity,a boatload of cash, and leaders who won't bleed you dry as has been the case in so many African countries. When you say "if we displayed them", who's we? People are very tribal whether black, white,yellow, brown,Christian,Muslim, Buddhist,Jewish Zoroastrian, Irish,Bantu, Somalian, Spanish or Cherokee. Believing that any race automatically sides with similarly colored people from a different country is wishful thinking at best and downright dangerous any other time.

    I am author of the books: The Great Wall of Africa: The Empire of Benin’s 10,000 Mile Long Wall, The Real Wakandas of Africa and The Real Vibranium of Africa (by Maurice Miles Martinez). Most people are unaware that African people built a wall before transatlantic slavery in the Benin empire that is one of the most massive structures in the world. At 10,000 miles long, the Great Wall of Africa contains more material than all of the buildings in New York City’s Manhattan. If cut into 1 meter high blocks, it would wrap around the equator more than 65 times! It is arguably the planet’s greatest man-made structure. Yet, it has been ignored by historians. In my book The Great Wall of Africa: The Empire of Benin’s 10,000 Mile Long Wall, I explore the dimensions of the wall, the history of the Benin Empire’s Kings (Obas) and the stolen Benin Bronzes. These treasures that sit in the world’s museums amount to more than $14 Billion. Most people who read this book are left wondering why they never heard about the Great Wall of Africa in their history classes. The world needs more videos on this topic.

      @Patsy Decline you started the trans Atlantic slave trade. Also it’s your kind in the Middle East that started slavery. Moreover slavery as your kind executed it was not slavery as practiced by Kemet. You guys have always been foul. You however would rather slither through every loophole so as not to accept just how horrible your kind is. You also didn’t end slavery out of benevolence. Your needs shifted that’s all, hence the next step colonization. Sometimes I wonder why your kind is so hateful but then what can you do if that’s the legacy you inherited. It’s in your blood. Your history is filled with such disturbing violence and mendacity.

      most likely raised on welfare, food stamps, and a housing subsidy. You are probably raising
      your children on welfare, food stamps, and a housing subsidy. You don't know how to make

      anything. You are too stupid to know how to build anything. You are too stupid to make a dollar.
      I know you are not a "royal" nor a descendant of a "royal". You will always be low class, illegal,
      and on welfare. Dependent on the government. When you learn how to spell, read, and write at
      at least a 3rd grade level, then I will talk. In the meantime, I don't talk to trash.

      Overtly confronting your opponent, besting him, and walking away with his stuff is not thieving. Want to call it robbery, fine. I'd call it conquest - since the bronzes were not the primary motivation.
      And let's not pretend the people of Benin themselves, were strangers to conquering others, looting them, enslaving them.

      @@teaCupkk we can go on and play around with English, also throw in whataboutisms, but what was done when these Bronzes were taken from rightfull owners was not short of thieving. Robbers take by force, which was done here. They can also chose to kill and leave a trail of destruction, which was done here. They (robbers) refuse to return what they stole, again it is thieving. These people here, who did this to Benin are the human rights champions of today while accusing others of being dictators and ensuring that ICC goes for them.

    I like the Benin Bronzes. I've seen them a few times and are worth a visit. A lot more needs to be explained about them and their origins. I understand they all come from a royal palace in Benin atrociously destroyed by the British in response to some earlier atrocity. Those British clearly saw some value in the Bronzes but surely they can't be the only things of value in a royal palace? What else was there? What evidence is there of the palaces existence? This should surely be a site for archaeological investigation? We are told some of the bronzes date to the 13th century. The palace was destroyed in 1897. Is there development of artistic style over those six hundred years? A single royal palace is hardly likely to be the sole repository of artwork from a six hundred year old civilisation. Were is the rest of it?
