Own this pedal. It’s extraordinary. Maybe the best pedal I’ve ever owned and have been playing for 20 some odd years. Studio, big stage PA systems, big cab arrangements…it works miracles.

@This Guy you got it. One helpful trick I’ve found for bass, is the bottom right knob controls what part of your signal you want to compress first. If your tone is super bassy, and blowin the system turn it to the left. Too much high end, turn it to the right . Cheers !

This is definitely the best pedal demo ever, possibly the best anything demo ever and near the top of the best video ever rating. Thank you!

This is probably the first compressor demo I have ever heard that actually matches the effected and clean volume levels and switches back and forth so you can hear what the effect is really doing, rather than just 'louder is better'.

Excellent video!! The Empress looks like a great pedal. Don't underestimate the benefit of having Input and Gain Reduction LED lights on your compression pedal - in combination with your feel as you pluck/pick, the lights give you additional feedback on how the pedal is working. I like the lights feature on this Empress, that would be super useful. My compression pedal is a Keeley Compressor Pro, which has gain reduction lights like this Empress. The Keeley is incredible for me as a light compression pedal to even out my plucking and picking, and I really appreciate its Auto and Knee switches to simplify things. I put marks on my normal setting for gigs and just set it and forget it. This Empress has different features that would add some interesting possibilities (such as that Colour switch!) if you are looking for those features. I'm going to stick with my Keeley because it does exactly what I want it to, but this Empress looks fantastic for someone who wants even more tone controls.

Awesome! Seems P reacted better to the comp than J to my ears...keep on bringing these reviews. Great job!

I am torn between this vs. the Becos Stella. I love them both.

that's kinda funny , Diamond Bass Comp (also Canadian) use the exact same bass try and drums. look it up in TH-cam.

I don't really get why it has a HP filter for sidechainm you usually need a LP filter, not a HP one

Sometimes with bass you want the compressor to react less to the low frequencies dynamic. This is a common function on many legendary compressors like the LA2A or the Distressor. Just to be clear : High Pass = Low Cut . So the detector of the compressor receive less low end.

Detesto quando o cara fica mexendo nos knobs aleatoriamente sem objetividade. Não mostrou nenhuma vez a opção de ataque rápido nem de release lento.

I am not doing random moves without any purpose, this is kind of a rehearsed choreography actually 😅
At first I try to show all the range of each controls and after that, I search for nice settings without keeping them to long to make the video short.
I always feel like the character of a comp is more revealed when you push it hard. So lot of gain reduction and a super fast release helps to show some of the features.
Also, keep in mind that this comp is inspired by a 1176 so the attack can go ultra fast (50μs to 50ms) and the release have super wide range (50ms to 1s). Personally, I will probably keep my attack at 5ms or slower and my release at 50ms to 150ms. So the faster attack and the slower release are not super interesting on bass for me personally on this comp.
