  • Super excited to show you this QUICK AND EASY tie dye technique using bleach. It's a great project to revamp thrifted pieces or clothes you already have in your closet. (Thats what I used!) Best part is, you don't need any squirt bottles or spray bottles. I also try different patterns and loved ALL the end results!
    QUICK DISCLAIMER: USE BLEACH AT YOUR OWN RISK. Make sure you have an airy space to do this diy because the fumes can become too much.

    I love it... Nice job. I like to slightly dampen the shirt before scrunching it; it helps it stay in position while adding the rubber bands. A 50/50 bleach/water solution will give you more time, better control and not weaken the fabric as badly. Punch a small hole towards the top of a water bottle for a quick squirt bottle and for mixing the bleach/water, it also helps with control. Some fabrics are more stubborn and may require 100% bleach. Remember, the shirt is continuing to whiten while they are waiting for the washer to fill. I usually do a quick rinse in the sink first. After you are done, you can still add to your pattern by using a brush to paint or "fleck" bleach spots onto the shirt after it is done... then, rinse it again. (Makes great sunbeams.)

    Another option, put the clothes in the washer with minimum water then spin dry (so the garment is damp), do the ties (the shirt will be easier to work with damp), fold in half with one sleeve inside the other (hard to explain, but gives "symmetrical" results side to side, optional of course), put 50/50 bleach and water in a container so that it will only cover half the garment (so half as high as the thickness of your bundle) and dip one side in it. You might be able to do variations with smaller depths of bleach water and doing both sides. Rinse in water in sink, rinse in hydrogen peroxide to neutralize the bleach, then run through the washer.

    I like the way you did it in the sink and just poured. Easier then some of the others with spray bottles and flat surfaces somewhere I don’t really have all that. This seems easier.

  • @marybotts7114
    @marybotts7114 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would recommend using 50/50 water and bleach, just because the material gets super weak... Like holes everywhere after one wash 😬. That being said her stuff turned out really cute! Works on colored material too, not just black.

  • @Alljazziedup
    @Alljazziedup 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Is getting the material wet first important? I have seen videos that do and don't or does it not matter?TIA

    • @melodyutley0709
      @melodyutley0709 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes the fabric is a lot easier to deal with and it help soak in all the dye or bleach she wets them after being folded it's better to just wet them first

    Yo! I came just to see what other bleach styles different people are doing, and this was a great video!! I loved how the diagonal one turned out, I can never get my diagonals, or any folds for that matter, to have the much bleach come through! Great job! PS now I wanna do sweatpants 🤓
