Hi Anna. 😊New subscriber who's been enjoying your videos. I tracked down a can of cheddar cheese soup after I saw this crazy video, only to discover there's no recipe. Is it available somewhere? I did find copies of the cookbook online if you don't have the recipe posted. Thanks for sharing your adventures! 😋
Oh gosh you're right! Here it is: Applesauce Oatmeal Cookies 2c all purpose flour 1 1/2tsp baking powder 1/2tsp baking soda 2tsp ground allspice 1tsp ground cinnamon 1/8tsp ground cloves 1 can (11oz) condensed cheddar cheese soup 1 1/2c packed brown sugar 1c applesauce 1c shortening 2 eggs 2c oats 1c seedless raisins 1c chopped walnuts (can't remember if I actually included these or not!) Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, and spices into large bowl. Add soup, sugar, applesauce, shortening, and eggs. Using an electric mixer, beat at medium speed for 2 minutes. scrpaing sides and bottom of bowl. Stir in oats, raisins, and nuts. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Makes about 7 1/2 dozen cookies.
I went to a summer day camp when I was a youngster, and we used to have silly soup day. It was on Tuesdays. And every kid would bring a can of soup and they throw it in a big pot and cook up everyone’s soup all together. And we would always be mad at the kid who brought tomato soup because we thought that he ruined it for everybody with the tomato soup! Thanks for bringing back that memory!
Holy smokers, what an incredibly amusing video of a very interesting recipe; I never imagined in my wildest dreams you could make cookies with Cheddar Cheese soup! Mind Blown... Thanks for doing this video!
Im SO glad you made these soup cookies!! Such an interesting recipe. I was going to guess that it used tomato soup, not cheese soup!! So crazy!! Ive never tried Campbells cheese soup before. Well you know that cheddar cheese and apples go well together, so i could possibly see the connection here!
It must not have been a staple in my house growing up, because I was SHOCKED by the color! 😂 You're right about the cheese and apples...maybe that's what the recipe developer was thinking? Unfortunately the soup didn't really add much to the cookies, good or bad. Glad I tried it though! Thanks for watching. ♥
The only time I've used this cheddar soup was for a chicken casserole and I had to combine it with a can of cream of chicken. Maybe we should try making broccoli 🥦 cheddar soup with it? 🤷🏻♀️
New subscriber here! Wow this is amazing! I never would have thought of this. It looks good though. I love your style, apron & your kitchen. Just beautiful! Keep in touch friend! 💖🌵
Hi Anna! Brilliant entertaining video! You made me laugh 😊. Us Irish don't do 'making cookies'.... Don't ask me why! It just isn't done! Will I make these... I think I'll come to yours to try them first! thanks so much for the fun of watching you make soup cookies! God bless. Fiona
Glad this made you laugh! Making cookies was a pretty frequent activity for me growing up, especially on rainy days. We always had ingredients for some kind of cookie in the house!
@@cooking_the_books that's a lovely memory Anna 😊 they seem very simple to make so I don't know why they are not a thing here 🤔. And we love to dunk a nice digestive biscuit in our cuppa! Thanks again for the fun video. Hope Dottie is continuing to do well.
Oh she only went and did it!! I'm so very very happy you went there, I truly am! I'm a little surprised at how little cheese soup flavour appeared, but I guess a part of me thinks "cheese and apples, that kinda makes sense." Plus, I'm guessing the soup was meant to add that touch of salt that helps bring cookies to life? I don't know, I'm spitballing here. Soupballing. Either way, this was so great to finally see. Thank you Anna, for giving the fans what they demanded!
I really did want these to have more of a soup color or flavor! It's a wacky sounding recipe, I demand wacky results. Perhaps I will seek out more soup cookies and try them all...
That is a very different kind of cookie. I would probably try it. Went goodwill hunting and found some vintage cookbooks and a couple that are just interesting.
Yeah, the texture is not at all like a cookie. Very soft and cake/muffin like. I had hoped it would be more like a cookie! Glad you found some treasures at Goodwill. ❤
Thank you for your videos! Your videos give me so many ideas as someone who loves a cream of something soup. I have been dealing with depression and haven't wanted to cook and your videos help me to get back into it. Plus they are soothing to watch
YES Team Raisin! I nearly talked myself out of buying these bowls years ago. So glad I decided to treat myself! The cookies are just ok. Not amazing, but not bad either. Not sure they're worth the effort.
Watching this 1 year later and she is now up to 30K! That is so cool! ❤ Congratulations Anna! I am a new subscriber and I am really enjoying your videos!
Bahaha, yessss! The soup cookies!! Lol love the bowl! 🙌🤗 Woah, that makes a TON of cookies! These sound interesting, maybe not worth the trouble of making them, but I’m glad you tried them! 😂 Ahhh congrats on 500!! So well deserved!! We’ll be celebrating your 1k in no time!! 🎉🎉🙌🙌
Thank you! I just had to give these a try. Do I wish they'd been a little bit gross? Kind of. 😆 These were just ok. I would say definitely not worth the trouble or going out of your way to pick up a can of cheddar cheese soup.
Hi! Jane here. Quaker Oats has a fun cookie recipe that is a family favorite. They had shredded cheddar cheese in them, along with chopped apples. The cheese was a nice twang, and the sweet apples balanced it well. I wonder if your cheese soup just added the fat for your cookie to ensure its tenderness.
Hi Anna 😊 Congrats in 500+ subscribers 🎉 These cookies look interesting. I’m not sure I’d try them 😂 I’m not a super adventurous eater. I enjoyed the video! Hi to Dottie ♥️🐾🐾♥️
Thank you!! Yeah, I wouldn't say these were bad, but they weren't amazing either. Not sure they'd be worth the effort to try again. There are many applesauce oatmeal cookie recipes out there that are probably better and don't involve soup! 😂
I love the music in the background! Always amazing the things that can be made with a can of soup or soup mix. 😻 I don't mind raisins, I hated them as a child😂
Hey Anna! You had me hooked until the end when you said Nacho Cheese Soup was an ingredient. Thank you for all the tips on baking them off! Appreciate you being brave and trying out this recipe! Congratulations on the 500 subscribers!
Anna I will have to say you are brave in trying this recipe, I would have just past it on up lol. It looks like they turned out good , very unique. I love raisins especially in oatmeal raisin cookies. Great share! Congratulations on 500 subscribers! 🎉
Oh my goodness, that soup is bright orange! I never use the cheese soup cans either, so it was quite the surprise. Maybe you can eat them as a breakfast cookie? I suppose adding cheese soup to cookies is kind of like that Velveeta fudge recipe... seems unnecessary, but the novelty wins some people over?!
The color was SHOCKING for sure! Yeah, the soup didn't seem to make the cookies better or worse. Like you said, I think it was in the recipe for the novelty factor.
You had me a soup cookies! Lol-I hear that chocolate and velveeta go well together so I guess cheese soup may work in a dessert. You didn’t want to add that soup! I’m laughing my butt off. Great video! Congratulations on the 500 subs👍❤️😊

@@cooking_the_books well they weren’t even on the right page of the book! That was your first sign! Hehe. I would have tried them too just out of curiosity. Funny video I enjoyed it😊
I feel like the tomato soup cookies would at least be more interesting than these! Again, they weren't bad...just kinda blah. I kind of wanted to have a stronger reaction! 😆
@@cooking_the_books the tomato soup cookies tasted like a spice cookie. It was flavorful. My family liked them until I told them what was in them then they wouldn’t eat them. They swore that they could taste the soup that they couldn’t taste before. 🙄
