I’m a little late to this video but would love to build a squeeze for our 332 Deere skid steer. We handle about 20 big squares a day for our TMR grinder and would love a step by step on building that squeeze for a skid steer.
I don’t have an in depth video of building it. I could do an overview of it I suppose. What size bales do you make? I’m looking at building some to sell if that’s something you’d be interested in too. If you do 3x3’s I would expect that you could pick up 2 wide with this squeeze and depending on the skid steer maybe 2 high.
Absolutely. I usually have 3x4 and sometimes use the export bales that are 4x4 but I usually handle them lengthwise so I would need to open to a full 8’. If you are gonna build em let’s talk.
Oh ok. I believe most of the time I see squeezes handle big bales they’re on the edge width ways. So my question is how consistent is the bale length on a large square baler, never really been around one. The only concern I’d have there is if there’s a difference in length you wouldn’t be able to pick two up. Also how much weight are we talking about? And how many bales would you like to be able to pick up at a time. Message me on FB if you want and we can discuss. Thanks

I really only need to grab a couple at a time but I guess overbuilding it is no harm. The ability to grab two deep is nice so more or less 8’ wide by 8’ deep max size. These cylinders are 2.5" bore and 16" stroke. The stroke will depend on what group of bales you're wanting to pick up and everything. So far I haven't had any issues with not being able to squeeze tight enough.
Thanks! It took some time to get to the point I could do this. Several failed attempts and late nights picking stacks up by hand. I’ll continue to get more efficient as I go. Once I get my addition to my barn done it’ll make a big difference not having to haul all of my hay to store it. Just stacking in the arm rather than loading a trailer will be so much faster and easier. I have enjoyed running the stacker this year and I continue to get a little better every time I run it.
I bought a grapple, not much need to build what I can buy reasonably. I built a squeeze because you can’t buy one so I wanted to try it. I was told it would never work and will not be able to lift multiple layers at a time. I’ve already proven that wrong. It works pretty well and I can easily pickup 30 bales at a time. The only issue is since they’re all stacked the same way the top bales can fall off. Which is why I’d like to add another set of arms to it. So the advantages to the squeeze are 1. Being able to move 30 bales at a time rather than just 10 making it 3 times faster 2. Being able to lift more than one layer allows me to be able to stack higher due to reach height 3. And I can make better use of storage space and stack right to the truss because I don’t need the head height a grapple needs. I think the squeeze and grapple both have a place. So far I’m happy with the squeeze.

I tell you ya I have been running a stacker for a long time and I can never get a stack to free stand so coudos to you

These are probably the tightest bales I’ve seen to date on your channel. What is their length and weight?
I will have to measure them to be sure but I believe they’re 36-38” long and about 50-55 lbs.
They sure are looking good and solid, how many pound are you making them. Keep safe friend.
Roughly 50-55 lbs. it makes pretty good bales, the type of hay will make a big difference as well.

I like it. I been kicking around the idea of building one for a few years now but we do 12 flat so I never thought it would work to well like that.
Yeah I’m not sure that it would work with the bales flat.
What size is this field ?
This is 5 acres with the little piece in front which was bales earlier. So actually less than 5 acres.
