So I've tried this, but on my RPi4 - all my game formats are in ZIP files. I can't seem to get SuperStreet Fighter2 to load. I've followed your tutorial, tried it with both the .zip at the end and without it... but it won't boot to it!! Please help!
amazing thank you!! spent a long time googling a load of faf about this, but this video shows the exact way and quickest imo. It works with the latest retropie also as i did this today.
When I automatically enter the arcade game, the hotkey I set before fails, and It became again select+start mode, but I don't want anyone to quit the game,Do you know how to deal with this situation please?
Is there an easy way to get a rom to autoload from a usb stick, when the usb stick is plugged in? I want to be able to a single game on what is essentially a 1 Gb USB drive, and plug it in to the device and have that game boot.
Ive tried this several times and just cant get it to work. It shows the rom loading sceeen then just stops and goes back to emulationstation. Btw the part you have in the description doesnt match your video notepad.
Has anyone found a way to fix the emulator select bug? That is where if you select an emulator for a specific rom (selection2) you can only do it once... it will not let you change it afterward. Just got a pi 4b with a fresh retopie install and it's already doing that to me.
@@NoobGameReviews yes it does, but with the current retropie selection 2 where you select an emulator for that specific rom only works once and then you can't change it... if the emu you picked doesn't work you are stuck with it. The only way to fix it is a fresh install or try a different rom of the same game. What I have been doing is using selction1 where you choose the emulator for the whole folder... that one still works normal... once I find the emu that works for the game, THEN I select that emu for the rom using selection 2.
I mean, that sounds like a bit of a faff. Like I say, I don’t have a pi 4 at hand to check. I’m always messing with the emulators and cores to use to make certain arcade games work
@@NoobGameReviews fair enough but if you pick the wrong emu it takes a lot of work to change it again, it was clearly ment to be an easy option to change but somehow it's broken. I have seen whole threads talking about the problem. I was just hoping you had heard something about it. I don't think that counts as a faff
Awesome video NVGR! I was wondering if it is possible to load a specific menu rather than a specific rom? I am making my arcade dedicated specifically to MAME games so I was wondering if there is a way to skip passed the menu that displays retropie configuration and MAME and just go straight to the menu of MAME roms.
Hello GREAT VIDEO!!! Is there a way to do this but.... boot from a external drive???? (like if I wanted to insert a USB drive with Mario cart.gba into the pi) (like a digital cartage) This is so I can hot swap other USBs that would contain a different rom.
@@NoobGameReviews so I was thinking a of a loophole... what if your Roms were all called the same file name? Then you could redirect the directory address to that default name and you wouldn’t have to worry about file paths or different programs. Would that work? ( my rasp 4 is in the mail) lol
Thanks, great tutorial. I have a question: is there a possibility to put rom with .sh file to pendrive so when i put pendrive into usb port rom starts automatically with proper emulator?

Hmmm could be done in theory. You could try following the instructions but adding in the address of the usb drive rather than the sd card?

Cannot get this to load a mame ROM

I’m not familiar with pi4, but when you enter the select screen when the rom is loading, does it not give the option to select what emulator to use?

Sorry, what I meant was the bug sounds like a faff :) you would think thy would patch it at some point seeing as it’s a very useful feature :(
Thank you worked perfect
Thank you!

Tricky one that, as that would mean messing with some other finer points of the emulationstation front end. That’s beyond my tiny yorkshire brain haha
@@NoobGameReviews That's ok. I appreciate the reply!

It may be possible, but is a slightly different process because of the way the pi system works, interesting to look into it though :)

In theory it would, you’d have to make sure the usb were named exactly the same, be the same size and everything as well
@@NoobGameReviewsI have plenty that are identical :D can’t wait to test! I’ll keep u updated
Yeah deffo, would make for an interesting follow up vid :)

Ohh I’m not sure about that, will have to do a little research :)
Glad you liked the vid
with jammapi on pi4 dont work because it has a customstart file in the same folder of autostart... solutions?
How do I get it too boot to retropie automatically on boot any help would be greatly appreciated
