Thank you very much for all your nice comments, and to all the people who have expressed an interest in the organ. I have had many people offering me the starting price, so over the next few days I will add a new price which will reflect the highest bidder. The price of the organ, as of 12th November, is £5,000 due to the huge amount of interest this organ has had, and from the high number of people wanting to buy it. FAQs: Will you ship the organ? - Yes, but the furthest I'm willing to risk the distance is to the USA. I'd been advised by Viscount themselves that it would be very unwise to ship an organ like this too far. How much is shipping? - I don't know, and this will be up to you to arrange in consultation with myself. What are the measurements? - I've added these to the description of the video. Do the internal speakers work? - I've disconnected them all due to the fact that the organ was bought as a Hauptwerk organ. The speaker output works, along with the headphone socket but I'd suggest that the internal speakers are probably not worth using.
Dear Richard, Caroline and All at BiS: This is indeed a rather "happy-sad" situation. I hope that the organ goes to someone or some organization that appreciates her place in our online organ history, and continues to be used online for all of our international enjoyment. I'm glad that you are selling her to the highest bidder, and a good new home. I personally open a bid of one dollar for the roll of electrical tape and a small sample of genuine cat hair. I'm being humorous here, but yes indeed it is really a bit sad, for our BiS family-community sentimental reasons. Priceless. Sigh.♥
Richard i may be young but even i can see what a wonderful organ that is and hard it must be for you to give it away. Unfortunately i can not afford it but to the person who buys it, i want to A: congratulate you for getting such a special and amazing organ, and B: to make videos on this organ/Rotterdam so we can still appreciate it!!!! With that out of the way i am very excited indeed for the new organ (Harrison and Harrison is one of my favorite organ builders so i imagine it will be amazing to see your console based on their style) and for new as you will be able to play the BIG hauptwerk organs to their full extent!!!!!!
This one hits me "right in the feels" as they say! Wow - what a journey. But this is just the beginning of a whole new and incredibly exciting chapter. The Viscount has been our constant companion on a spellbinding and inspirational musical journey - helping to bring light to some of the darkest days in our generation! Thank you for your vision - and gratitude to Caroline, Bobbie, Nala and Hugo for making this possible. I absolutely loved the photos from the arrival of the instrument, including Baby Bobbie!!! Your inclusion of two of the most memorable and special musical moments towards the end was also a wonderful touch. We bid the Viscount fair voyage and know that its new owner is a fortunate person indeed to own a piece of shared musical heritage! Best of luck to the interested parties!!!!
Thank you for play all the wonderful music. You and that organ have been a ray of hope in this dark world. Hopefully the organ you are selling will be a means for its future owner and player to shine that light of hope to their listeners. As for you, you deserve that brand new instrument you are acquiring. Hopefully it will provide you years of wonderful music making just as the old has done. Please keep playing, You music is doing more good than even you may realize.
I've only been watching this channel for about 5 months, but within all that time I've been able to see how special and wonderful of an organ this is. This organ, without a doubt, deserves to go to a place where it will be well taken care of and appreciated. It is indeed very sad to see this organ leave, but I'm looking forward to the arrival of the new organ!
Richard, might I make a suggestion. You should definitely include the legendary electrical tape roll that was behind the music desk for all those years. That HAS to be included! 😂😂😂
I can relate how difficult it is to say goodbye to a beloved instrument that serviced for years or even decades. I got organ lessons on this magnificent mechanical pipe organ (2M+P) of our church as a teenager. Thirty years later I discovered the church will be demolished and the organ is sold to a church in Poland. It feels like the loss of a family member... this beautiful instrument has become part of my musical DNA.
I say it’s worthy of being in the British Museum!! Whoever the next owner of the console is, they are very lucky! I’m sure the new console will be absolutely amazing, I can’t wait to see it in BiS HQ!
Hello, Richard; Buying a new instrument is always an exciting moment, especially when it represents a large upgrade. I'm sure that i am not the only listener that is dying to know what is coming in the future. Please fill us in soon. All the best!
Had a three manual Austin and had to leave it. Along with my heart. I was most fortuate to have it given to me free. Cables were also given to me free. I do not play. But EX did. The work was immense. I had worked for the company and acquired parts free or at cost. :Luck to you. I understand. My organ was purchased by somone who knew nothing Much damage was done in movemnt. Was put in a museum...
"Grandpa's Organ". I'm only in my 30s, but it never occurred to me until now that one day my grandchildren will come over and sit around Grandpa's organ. :)
Being a padant - basically what your are selling is a very fine console ( no dishonour / disadvantage inthat) in a great case. In these days many a - some - instruments are a mix of complnents - for an an organ the pipework is provided by Hauptwerk, a brilliant piece of software enhanced a dedicated foucr of patient sound recordists who effectively analyses the sound(s) of a specific instrument, No dishonour but any instrument is the sum of its' parts, one of whic is the case....
Richard - am I right in thinking that you will reconnect the internal speakers so the organ will play with the original Viscount sounds, so it is a complete organ ? (albeit not as up to date in sound as using it as a console for Hauptwerk)
I wish I could bid on this instrument, but I would have to sell my house to afford it plus shipment to Milwaukee. Your beautiful lullaby made me cry. It reminded me of my Mother, whom I miss so very much. When I was a baby and through my infancy she always sang to me. The lullaby would be most wonderful for Christmas. Is there a way to obtain/purchase a copy of it? Many thanks.
It would be good for our church in Australia but asking the parish council these days for about $A10,000, before transport costs, for an organ (!!!!) would cause them to laugh out loudly or reach for the smelling salts. I hope you can sell it for a worthwhile amount.
5000 pounds is about 6800 American dollars. You should be able to get much much much more than 5000 pounds. The sound of that organ is excellent. I wouldn't be surprised if you got 20K - 30K American dollars.
Wondered what would happen to your present organ. I can see how fond you are of it. (One of my brothers felt that way about a favorite car). I know you're going to keep in contact with the new caretaker. From Chicago, U.S.A.
I see your organ sold! Can you tell us anything about it without violating any confidentiality? It would be interesting to know if it went to a church, for example, if it was a foreign buyer, things like that. Congratulations, though I’m sure it was an emotional parting, too.
@@beautyinsound Fair enough, I dread what will happen to my organ when I feel the need to upgrade. I’ve come so far on it and it’s story is super sad. I found it on the side of the Road with a sign That said scrap for parts. Only the whole thing works perfectly. Unfortunately there isn’t a market for lowrey organs so I hope I won’t have to toss it.
Beautiful instrument. I hope you find a great home for it and get a good price. I wish I was cashed up enough to buy it, but I'll have to settle for the recently renovated pedal board, that I converted to midi with a Tweensy 3.5, two keyboard controllers and Hauptwerk on my Mac. On my list of things to do though, is make a fun video about pipe organs and how they work for kids. Keep up the great work and excellent videos. 👍

I can only imagine how hard this was to do - whoever the lucky person is, I truly hope they continue to share their music

Lovely ending and beautiful voice of your wife I presume. Hope the organ finds a worthy new home. God Bless.

The organ is lovely, but your young lady has an absolutely gorgeous voice that is more beautiful than any stop on any organ.
Fortunately for me, the sale of the organ doesn’t include Caroline!!

No need to apologize for having to get some money back for that organ. You've put a lot of time and money into it and it's 100% operational.

My Grandpa always gave his to a church bc no one would but them.. Sad. I wish I had a place for one in my house I would get it.
I hope that the organ goes to a good loving home.
I can’t get anything out of my organ. The sound box is separately made which I also have. I think I may scrap it or dump it.
10:39 wich is this piece?
Good luck in the sale of the organ. Remember to replace the music desk bulbs. I see some of them are dead.

Wow!
Think of all the notes that have been played on this beautiful instrument.
Are the cats for sale as well? (BTW Denis Bédard's "Cat Suite" is great fun!)
Haha! If they were included, the price of the organ would astronomical! 😸
The cats, as the organ, music, singing and total set up are all gorgeous.

It went to young organist who will be applying for organ scholarships over the next year or so. I’m very relieved it went to a good home.

Why is the organ for sale
Watch the video to find out.
Richard has a gorgeous new 4 manual organ built to look like the organ at York Minster on its way to him! Very exciting indeed!
