Totally agree with ya man, it's so much more natural to stand up and not worry about "is my foot back far enough?" as I'm riding which sucks to have to think about when I'm riding a wave, no traction is freedom for sure, great videos man

Thanks for the comment and feedback, it’s appreciated.
Yes I feel the same way, when I’m on a board with a traction my foot always feels too far up, then I think about it, then the waves over lol.
Without one you just do what ya gotta do - cheers and I’ll keep em coming.

I like the hump in back it helps me duck dive deeper and for top turns I feel like I stick my landing better.

True that, when it’s super critial that extra hold can be nice. Bit more comfortable on the back foot too.
You’re starting to convince me to switch back..lol. Every time I try tho, just don’t like how my foot gets ‘caught’ on the pad during micro movements. Oh the ironic joy of first world surf problems.

To me traction pads are more of an accessory that can make a board color way even sicker. Being broke and not having money for a pad when I get a board tho has made me less reliant on a pad but still feels naked back there.😂

Haha I hear you - I had a similar feeling at first. Then one day it just clicked - now I get mad when boards have them lol. While I'm surfing, I never have my back foot that far back - and that pad always makes me think my feet are 'off' - so they really throw me off my game these days. Like you said, once you get used to no pad, less money to spend! They do make the board look cool though and still - MOST people prefer them.

Went from pad to no pad back to pad on some boards. Only cause ding repair man told me will help the deck under the back foot last longer on lighter glassed boards.

Good point, forgot that aspect of it. Prob why most of my boards’ tails get beat to ish lol.
Thanks for the comment. I keep wanting to try pads out more but every time I do, immediately over it.

@@TravisVarga dents in the deck can depend a lot on the materials a board is constructed with. my quiver is almost all PU boards and i noticed other materials will not dent in nearly as Much.
Finding a low profile pad may help
W transition. If one really wants to find that back fin for performance surfing a pad can really help dial in foot placement
