It takes a big man to take on the challenge of the TT & an even bigger man to realise when its time to call it a day at the TT. Full respect to you Dave.
Lots of great memories now continue with everything else in your life and maybe even introduce a few new things along the way👍

As a recent subscriber I have really enjoyed your infectious enthusiasm and love for motorbikes, racing and the TT in particular. The raw honesty you have shown throughout and especially in this video is admirable beyond words. I wish you and your friends and associates all the best and look forward to you taking us on whatever adventures you undertake in the future. The character you have shown in racing the TT, and in deciding NOT to race the TT anymore, are exactly why mere mortals like myself avidly follow the deeds of road racers like yourself. A breed apart.

I popped over on Saturday morning before the senior and the guys did say you wasn’t entering . These videos really have given viewers the full behind the scenes of road racing , I can see just how much effort it takes physically and mentally. Massive respect to anyone that rides at 100% around the Isle of Man . Well done Dave , big decision 💪🏻.

Thanks for inviting us into this world Dave, it’s incredibly interesting and clearly very emotional. You can hear the tension in yours and other riders voices and you can clearly see the tension in their body language before the race. Massive respect to all that ride there.

Smart call Dave. There's a million ways to have fun with motorbikes, roadracing is only 1 of them. Nothing wrong with gravel traps and runoffs especially when you're still alive to have a pint with your mates afterwards. U da Man Dave!

    Huge hug for you buddy.
    Be Proud
    Be Very Dam Proud
No one can ever take any of that from you, and any time you choose you can close your eyes and do every bit of that circuit flat out with a smile on your face.

Total respect Dave. I used to ride on the road, (not racing, I’ve neither the minerals or talent for that) but I always knew that if anything serious happened to me or my riding friends, that would be the end for me. Unfortunately it was me that had the incident but even while I was being scooped off the road by the paramedics with a shattered leg, I had total clarity of thought and I knew I was done. 6 years down the line and health fully restored, I haven’t regretted my decision for a second.

Hi Dave, I have never met you, but feel as if I'm your friend having got to know you so well over the years.
I was lucky enough to realise my lifetime ambition to race the mountain course, which I did twice, so I know as well as anyone everything that you are saying.
I think the decision to stop must the right one for you and no one else.
I'm involved in helping others along their two wheeled racing, and the one thing I often say is that the time you stop enjoying it, is the time to stop.
I hope one day to be able to meet you and say 'hi'.
Really looking forward to watching your adventures and enjoying your bike building exploits.
You are top guy and one I have massive respect for everything you do and have achieved.
And finally THANK YOU for your honesty

Dave, your courage is remarkable. Coming back from last year's somber Senior race after your mate passed and posting your best finish is an incredible achievement on its own. Your enthusiasm for this event has inspired me to follow it closer than before. I was saddened to hear about Raul, having just watched him in the series "No Room For Error.". Then watching this video, after your first race, Raul was right there and walked by you. It really hit home on how fleeting this life is. My sympathies for Raul, his family, and the TT family. Kudos to you to know when it's time, and respect from across the pond.

Also Thank you for letting me get a photo with you and Franco, sorry if I came across a bit simple coz I am lol and sorry I interrupted you while having your mars bar lol, ( I was the one who kept saying "I love the TH-cam vids" lol) but you're both superstars in my eyes. A true reflection of the highs and lows, massive respect for finishing the lap and calling time on your TT racing. I noted how disciplined you are at sticking to your markers, lap 2 RST Superbike 18:44.863 lap 4 18:44.194. Less than 7/10ths over a full TT lap is slightly OCD. Can you draw perfect circles free-hand? I've discounted that you're a robot as you like cake. RIP Raul

I found your channel around NW200 in the lead up to ticking the TT off my bucket list. Each day my mates and I would be watching for Dave’s distinctive orange S1000RR. It was a great fortnight, just a pity the beast couldn’t have spared Raul and it would have been perfect, but then that’s the nature of the beast, and why men come back every year to conquer it. Very moving piece to camera Dave. It looks like you are happy to have made the decision, despite as you say you are going to miss it terribly, and therefore it must be the right one. It's also good that you finished on a high, riding and position wise, even though the circumstances of your last race were very sad. All these TT vlogs, this and last year have been a mixture of fun, sad moments and exhilarating highs and I think you capture the whole experience so well. Looking forward to following the rest of Franco's season and if you are going, the Mexico races later in the year perhaps too. Either way I thoroughly enjoy the channel whatever the content. Oh and good luck for the upcoming ride on the Honda!

Thanks for the kind words. I'm hoping the longest day challenge is less emotional!!

Well Done Big Man. Hope to meet you one day and thank you for all the enthusiasm you project in your videos. I remember that exact same feeling when I stopped; racing motorbikes (especially on the roads), we have to "deal" with lots of bad stuff, but only once you run out of pigeon holes to shut that bad stuff away, do you really know when the right time is to stop. You're stuff is a million times better than TT+👍🏻🍀🇮🇲

Incredibly honest and candid blog. Thank you Dave Hewson for being brave, not only to race but to make this totally honest and gritty blog. I' ve watched you for a few years now, and ridden behind you at Rapid events. Thanks for the memories !

Dave, I was at the TT (again). I was going to say Hi at your garage but didn't want to bother you. Having just watched this video I felt compelled to say thank you for the videos, the on track entertainment and all the help you gave to the other competitors. Huge respect to you!

Dave, you have done what most us who ride bikes could only dream of if we dared to in the first place by competing in the TT.
I totally respect your decision, its better to stop a day too early than a day too late my friend. Just promise you'll take us with you on your next adventures

Amazing stuff. And congrats on a great riding career round the mountain. Its a very wise person who looks hard, and says that the moment has come. That course - which is a monster is an unforgiving place. And for those who speak of the loss of a rider - in this case, its a sad example. We could tame the bikes down and make them softer and more friendly. But the reality is that is wanted by no one who has an interest in the racing, and it simply does not stop bad things from happening. We're not designed for high G impact.
I will just say this. It doesn't have to be the end, and maybe it should not be. Maybe you come back as a team boss and you find a way to help a few young guns who want to ride, and who you can mentor, advise, help and stay doing in part what you love.
Last thing. I was a younger mad and I watched in person that battle in 92, with two of the greatest who ever did it, and Foggy came with a 123mph lap record that lasted 7 years. I believe I heard you say in video you had a 128mph lap on the big bike. Its only my opinion - but anyone doing 100mph has something to tell their kids, and anyone doing 128 DEFINATELY has something to tell their kids and grandkids.
    Best wishes!!
