Very interesting back story and nice tribute to your old mentor every one should have and credit those who inspired us in what ever path we chose whether be a career or hobby , it seems to instill a level of commitment that fosters passion to
“strive for perfection because it degrades exponentially from there “. That was a old mentor tip that stuck in my head over 40 years ago as a apprentice Mill Wright

Amazing I never knew this history and it has some meaning to me. I saw the Chi Town Hustler make its very first track run. I remember they had some wild front tire shakes they needed to fix. It was at US30 drag strip back in the day everything was up close and personal. You could get right up to these guys and if you were smart you kept your mouth shut, watched, and listened to everything. If there was an opening they would answer your question if you asked properly. Later I was racing my 65 Chevelle SS 327 Chevy fuely parts cam hot ignition, high rise Holley small slicks and pouring fuel in it. Ran 112mph high 12's it was fun. Burned up some clutches, hole in the one piston and it was my going to work car. I remember working all night and in the morning just to get it running so I could go to work the night shift. It was still fun. Thanks for the info.

Some of the best racing along with the fact the burnout area was on a hill. So they would come up the hill slowly then cross the line burnouts. Then back them up and do a second
across the line burnout. Today's racing cannot beat that.
