Astroworld was a iconic theme park in Houston which was closed down in 2005 due to concerns about corruption and gang activity as well as the resulting profitability issues. For a lot of kids growing in Houston in the 90s and early 2000s, the Astroworld theme park held a special place in their heart. This album was really a gear shift in Travis Scott's catalogue; and, now that he had achieved widespread commercial success, he could bring the music back home to his roots. He made Houston a promise to ressurect Astroworld, and this album was just part one of that promise. It's really sad what happened with the Astroworld festival because it really brought the youth in the city together. It was life changing to see that kind of cultural synergy in my own city. He was really able to give us something special. By all means a renaissance of the Houston sound with so many lyrical and sonical tributes to Houston artists (R.I.P Screw, 5% Tint, houstonfornication, ETC.), this album is truly 1 of 1 to anyone who grew up in the H during that time.

I’d suggest starting with currents since it’s his most accessible album, before moving on to the slow rush, then going back to the first two albums if you enjoyed currents and tsr. He’s also said to be hip hops favourite rock star since he’s worked with kanye west, asap rocky, travis scott etc. I think you’d really appreciate his music and it would make for a good reaction
