Don't worry about the weather. Just keep the header going as long as the moisture level is in your favour. The plight of the farmer, one eye on the crop, one eye on the sky. CHEERS 🍻
You never cease to amaze me how calm and collected you seem to be in spite of all the setbacks that arise, I think that I would have lost the plot by now, that's for sure, anyway have really been enjoying your videos over this Xmas break, really good stuff, warmest regards to you and your family from us here in NZ. p.s The weather is doing the same to us here as well, trust me, you are not alone.....
We carry an old retractable finger to jam in between the chain and sprocket and then use the reverser to wind it forward or backwards to jump the chain back to where it should be
G'day Henry. What's going on with the mustach? I thought it was the local youth that was messing up the newly grated roads 😁. I am still looking forward to the interview with Stacy, hope she will agree at some point. I also thougt somebody would be driving the grain cart while the header was chopping? Cheers
There was a lack of man power at the start of harvest so it will definitely get moving as we go through harvest. I'm sure we will get that interview done one day 👍. I thought about growing one and I left it for a few days but it's to pathetic 😅
how the hell you stay calm doing anything is beyond me. A load of wheat we had got rejected for too much ryegrass and everyone cracked the shits so much that someone hauling for us got mad at the silo blokes so much she got through with an upgrade
There’s a way easier way to jump it back rather than splitting the throat chain. Use a bolt, roughly m12 x 100 and put it on under the chain in front of the drive sprocket at the top of the throat and just wind it backwards by hand. The chain will pick up the bolt and it will wind around and come off the bottom of the sprocket and just fall out. Probably won’t even have to take the front off. You’ve still got to back the throat chain off but much, much easier than splitting the chain.
I second this! We take the tension off the chain and stick a punch in the side that has slipped, top or bottom depending on which way you have to go, the roll the feeder house over, having the punch in the sproket will cause the chain to jump a tooth, takes all of 10 mins to do!
Good video. If your moisture is a bit high, once you harvest it and put it in those bins you are using, and store it a bit, won't it lose moisture anyway? Also that weather app you were using. What was it called and is it for SA only? Would like that for VIC even though it is most likely to be a fantasy forecast. Have noticed the weather forecasts on the news for 7 days, once you get past day 3 the forecast is not so good. Keep up the videos. Good to watch
It's called METVUW and generally not overly accurate. Its available for all states and is nice to see the 10 day rainfall maps as a guide. If you want real fantasy then type GFS 10 day precipitation into Google and you will get a 20 days rainfall outlook 😅. That's some make believe stuff right there.
Thanks for vid, just wondering why yous don't use a contractor to get crop off, before bad weather hits , Better crop off, then no crop ???????, Specially if is an excellent yield, Cheers Bevan 🤠🦘🦘🇦🇺
There's not really any contractors around here. Pretty well all farms have their own gear and you will be sitting around waiting for them to finish their own crop before they'll even look at you. If you want a contractor then you'll have to approach another farmer and hope they get to you.
Great video Henry

Good luck combining your barley Henry
LOL Well its great to have a good heavy crop , I wouldnt complain at that !!! ...well done :)
A 1/4 inch socket extension under the chain and wind the feeder house back to skip the tooth back. Then check the tension on the chain .
Success with harvest Henry!!👍👊
a farmer's life is not always a bed of roses ….😂

There's some words off camera for sure
Merry xmas and have a great NYE with all the best for 2023. Boxing day was 42c here
Thanks mate! Same to you 👍. Yep she was a warm one

Yeah, we ended up learning that trick. We slipped it again and put a 15mm socket under the chain and rolled it back. Works slick as 👌
Great video henry
Motherbin, bigger chaserbin and grain bags. 21 hr days. On farm storage. Faster, better.

Hi Henry.. Appreciate the Vid.. in old school terms, how many bags to the acre was that good paddock of Barley yielding ?
She was rolling in at 38-39 bags 👍
Aye she is flat. Hope it gets easier
If you don't break stuff ,,,,you never learn how too repair ,,,,,it ,,,you just hope it breaks near the end of season ,,,,,,,,,
