I switched a few years ago because of stability and speed. Over time I've grown to love the interface and now I don't think I can ever go back to Premirere.
Not a single day passes where I regret moving from AP to DR. 6 years in and I just love Resolve as much as the first day. The quality of life is so improved for editing.
Believe me Matti, that was the best decision ever. Thanks to God I don't have to switch, because it's already in the house 😅and gives me so much benefit to my videos. And it is super quick, and the new Update is really crazy! Much love 💕 Matthias
@אברימי אופנר see it as a wonderful new challenge; you will learn lot's if new things and your brain continues intelligent. It will work quicker than you think ... believe it 😀
Not having brand/product loyalty is so important, especially for someone like you who has influence with your audience. I respect it and wish everyone was like that. Looking forward to some tutorials. I'm going to give Resolve a try, myself. I like Premiere but I'm interested to see how Resolve can improve on it. I was always hesitant to switch because there's just always been way more resources for learning and troubleshooting with Premiere due to it's popularity and widespread adoption. Now that I see more creators (especially ones who are serious about their production quality) making the switch, it's given me confidence to try it out myself.
As for resolve, that has changed a great deal in recent months to a year or more. I found several YT videos that show how to work in it as I made the switch to Resolve recently and I came not from Premiere, but did do PP CS4 as one, I didn't want to do the subscription thing, and two, could not afford to, and all that. I then went to Hitfilm, but it got bought out by Artlist last year and now its future is uncertain, thus, resolve. Mind you, at the moment, it's 12.5.1 as I run (currently) a decade old PC running a Core i5 processor so this will work on that aging PC and I'm hoping to upgrade soon. I refuse to "rent" stuff like this as your work hangs in the balance of if you fail to pay, you loose your work. Plus, it does not help that Premiere is now getting worse, not better with reliability etc why so many are jumping ship.
Honestly, DR gives you value for your time. I began using it when I started my channel as I could not pay the monthly Adobe subscription. I have grown by leaps and bounds. You changing shows that change is permanent and a great editor is always learning. Excited to be using the same editing platform as my mentor!
Since you're getting the Studio version, you'll be glad to know that 18.5 includes editing from the autogenerated transcripts of your videos. Just like Descript, which speeds a first cut TREMENDOUSLY.
I also switched to DaVinci Resolve a few days ago after more than 10 years FCPX, and it's mind blowing! Last week I tried Premiere Pro for some days, that was just way to complicated to use in my opinion.
@@jeffschaap I think it might depend on where you start from. When I went back to editing (when I learnt it was on tape) I started with Resolve and so I am used to what might seem an odd way of doing things, but I look at some of the steps people take on PP or FCP for example and I think. bloody hell that's a long way of doing stuff, but then I look at some of the drag and drop things and ask why Resolve can't do those aspects that way. I think it may be the same as whichever OS you use, centuries ago I started on a mac, then went to Windows for work, 2022 back to Mac and there are things that drive me mad in both, but some things are easier on one than the other.
Welcome to the crew, Matti! I've waited for this moment for quite a while. Brilliant decision! Your life is gonna be so much easier. Can't wait to follow your journey with DaVinci Resolve.
Another one bites the dust! And by dust, I mean an incredible editing software. I switched from Premiere 2 years ago and the only time I’ve really looked back is the AI subtitles, but that’s all changing now. Glad to have you on team Resolve, Matti! 💪🏻
I do a lot of work for podcasts so the only reason I use premiere is for those projects where auto subtitles is so easy. Hoping resolve adds them soon!
@@eastonsmith8278 they finally just added them last week! They're not as finely tuned as Premiere's timing is yet and they don't have animations, but they'll get there in time. They also added something game changing that as an editor of podcasts you'll likely find as valuable as I do - the ability to transcribe your raw footage, search the transcription and find exactly the words you're looking for. I can't get over how sick this is.
I got davinci at my work about 6 months ago and it's been a great switch for me coming from adobe. There are a few things, like the fusion page, that are a bit of a learning curve, but basic editing and coloring are so much nicer!
@@SaltEarthandSun Youre coping if you think that way lmao. Resolve is a million times more professional and better for editng than Final cut. If what you're saying is the truth then people outside of YT would've been using final cut to edit movies and tv shows, but they don't, it's only good for basic YT edits.
@@rano12321 if you’re actually editing professionally and delivering multiple versions of projects across multiple resolutions and aspect ratios, every single day…. Tell me how that project management and archaic resolution and frame rate support is treating you? 😂 Don’t get me wrong man, I’ve been using Resolve for since 2009… it’s great. Amazing software…. But since your still coming to grips with the change… please trust me. Just go back to FCPX. Do the xml round trip. That’s if you value your time. A switch from Premiere makes sense. Premiere is an absolute dog to edit with, always has been… it’s what I started on 20 years ago. Amazing that the UI hasn’t even really changed since then! 😂 But FCPX is light years ahead of Resolve in its UI, it’s underlying code base and it’s speed of actually editing. Resolve will always be my go to for colour, no doubt…. But bro, until they rewrite the base code to support real projects, with lots of timelines, each with their own unique frame rates and resolutions, fox how they deal with compound clips and unify things at its core, instead patching things together, it’s a dogs breakfast. They’ve done well in a short time since editing was Brough in…. But…. It’s a long way to go yet. Don’t take my word for it though, blaze ahead. By all means. 👍 You’ll butt your head up against the issues soon enough.
@@SaltEarthandSun Yes, I'm ediitng professionally and doing VFX for big budget client and also delivering for multiple resolutions and aspect ratios for clients. We mostly work with 4k, 6k footage and the project management is rock solid, the editorial department uses Kyno for all management which is a specialized software and for framerate support, Resolve covers all of our needs. I don't think anyone who uses Davinic Resolve and then tries FCP would actually wanna use it, so anyone someone on the internet says how fast final is blah blah, I instantly get an impression of the type of edit they are doing and if that's good for them, it's great but it's way too much of a toy to get complex project done, I mean you can have your opinion but you can't just change the reality. Haha, yeah I agree with the premiere statement but saying FCP's code and UI is light years ahead it just pure ignorace and emotional response rather than a rational response that supports the stats. FCP is cool but it hasn't gotten any major updates in years, it's fast because it can only run on Macos but Resolve is way way faster when it comes to editing, rendering, being able to do much more than anything FCP has to offer, and speaking of code base, BM has rewritten REsolve multiple times and when M1 came out, Resolve was not only one of the programs that so support M1 out of the back but it also outperformed FCP in many cases when it comes to rendering. I don't think you actually know what you're talking about, yeah they wanna for sure rewrite the codebase for the tool for the 10+th time as if its not already used in pretty much all movies unlike FCP, I'm sure all the movies that are graded with resolve weren't real projects 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. I don't think you actually know this so lemme clear it for you, you can have multiple timelines with different framerates and resolutions and also have sandwich style timelines in Resolve. Yeah man, we are working on million dollar movies and commercials and recently swicted to Resolve for editing all but I'm gonna make sure to tell the editorial to switch to a software pretty much no one uses in the industry. I mean sure if it works for you but like there's a reason why it's mocked as a toy, why people left it after FC7 and avid is still being used in agencies who edit movis and Tv shows, yeah I'm sure final cut is definitely better and not a toy. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@rano12321 I think you used the point here a bit. FCP is an editor. I never spoke of resolves other facets. We are talking about switching from FCP to Resolve for editing. Not colour, not anything else that it can do that FCP can’t as a result of acquisition, fair light, fusion etc. As an editor - it is faster. Period. If you haven’t used it, you would know. Period. I use both. Extensively. Every day. If you’ve found a way for a project to simultaneously support multiplie frame rates and resolutions, including 19:6, without changing the core project frame rate, without all your grades and tracks breaking when you have to break the nested sequences to scale them up with our pixelation, I’m all ears. If you are indeed using the software in the way you say, I bow down to you Sir, if u you can explain this one thing. Since the best in the industry still can’t find a real solution to this problem and it’s accepted that the code base needs to be rewritten to support it, maybe you have the solution and everybody else just missed it? Fcpx only drawback is it’s lack of a solid project sharinb foundation… Sam based support was clunky.
Welcome! You're gonna love it. We switched over from Premiere about 3 years ago and haven't looked back. I also originally learned to cut on FC7, and went to premiere. I got sick of the crashing and endless problems. Great choice!
Literally switching today. Just got back from Bali and about to drop the footage into Resolve. Been watching tutorials and think Resolve works more like my mind works. Love to hear how you go.
Went from Adobe Premier to DaVinci Resolve. The Nodes were intimidating at first but realized how easy it was to understand and use. Also the HDR wheels and Log wheels are what really sold me on switching. The HDR wheels are what make this video editing software truly professional. The constant crashing of Premier was an absolute nightmare.
The moment Davinci Resolve added an “Edit” page, I dropped Final Cut Pro and never looked back! That was years and years ago, and that decision to switch so early has definitely paid off. I’m glad to see Resolve is finding its way to more users 🥳.
I use both Resolve and Premiere on a weekly basis. Premiere gets used for the videos I get paid for only because that what the company I work for uses. EVERYTHING ELSE I do in Resolve. I don’t believe Resolve has ever crashed or even had any noticeable hiccup with anything I’ve thrown at it. You’re definitely making a good choice for real!!
I switched pretty recently and have been happy with my choice. I was able to adapt to it right away after editing one video. Still don't have everything figured out, but I'm getting there. Best part is color grading on Davinci. My videos look better than ever. I'm sure I could've achieved the same look on Premiere, but having a fresh look using the new node system has been eye opening. Also, it's just way more stable than Premiere. Less crashes, less lag.
I recently switched a couple weeks ago and it was the best decision! I originally planned to use it only for color grading, then I ended up cutting footage in it as well. And on a recent project got to use it for some motion graphics with a good amount of moving elements! It’s crazy how little time I’ve been using it, but am already editing faster in it than I did in premiere. And it’s free 😁
Switched a few years ago for the business and my personal channel and it’s been an absolute game changer. Came from FCPX then Premiere to Resolve. Welcome to team Blackmagic, Matti!
I made the switch like 5 years go or more. I liked Premiere and I actually have it for free from work. But it was so buggy and rendering was a nightmare. It's actually a bit funny that a lot people are switching now. This has been a problem for so long, can't understand how long people stuck with Premiere. You already switch to another program earlier, but a lot of people are switching from Premiere to DR now. And as I learned Fusion it makes so much more sense with a node based compositor. All the After Effects tutorial seems so wrong now when I'm used with nodes. No destructive coming layers needed , reusing stuff much easier etc. More After Effects user should be a look at a node based workflow. Welcome to the Davinvi Resolve community.
I made the switch around 6 months ago and i'll never look back! Love Adobe and their products, but with Premiere Pro crashing all the time and DaVinci Resolve having small features that make editing easier, it took around 2 weeks to learn/ customise and was the best decision! All that, and i only pay once for the studio version and that's it! They also seem to update with more features more often!
I've been a FCPX user for over a decade now and have so much invested into the platform. I bought a BMPCC 6K Pro not that long ago and DaVinci came with it. I will say that it feels much more professional to use and has so many features that its unreal. There is a learning curve to it but I will say once you have your process down for not only how you edit but how you organize your projects footage and settings you'll be off and running and won't look back. There are a few things FCPX does that I like and some things are much easier but all in all like you DaVinci just makes me feel like a professional when I sit down in front of it and I'm also not a brand loyalist either 👍🏾
I literally switched to DaVinci this week, love the fact that it has preset animations for text or images/videos and the color grading stuff is insane!
You are actually the one who introduced me to Davinci Resolve with the video you made years ago. I've been using it ever since and don't regret it a single day
Three years back I made the change to Resolve from Premiere (after 22 years!) Within 2 days I was doing a lot of things faster and have never looked back. The whole philosophy of BMD is to meaningfully solve problems for filmmakers. Adobe lost their way years ago with their subscription model and are now all about profits (at least it felt that way). I decided to go AdobeFree 7 years back - it took 4 years (I needed to replay Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator and too a lesser extent In Design and AE). I'm so happy (I use Affinity for design/publishing). Better software and no monthly costs. Resolve is just a joy to use °¬)
I switch to Davinci Resolve over 5 years ago because Premier was becoming too resource-heavy for no reason. Davinci Resolve ran like a dream on the same hardware Premier struggled on.
I got the Davinci Resolve Speed Editor back when it was $300 in v17, and it included Resolve pro license so I essentially got the Speed editor for free for buying the license. I'm still learning but it runs great on my older PC with GPU.
Welcome to the Resolve fam! My best decision ever was switching to resolve, used to HATE editing but now i love it. Ended up just being frustration from premiere crashing and being SLOOOOOW 😂 Ps. I STRONGLY recommend trying the speed editor! It speeds up the cutting process a ton, specially for multicam stuff! Honestly a must have in my opinion, specially when upgrading to studio its like 70€ more than just a license 👊🏻
WELCOME!!!!!!! Davinci for the win!!! i been debating about shifting to Davinci for months now then i forced myself to use davinci this past week and WHOAAAA!! the grading..the seamlessness the render speeds! canceled my subscription and uninstalled premier so fast lol
I switched to Devinci Resolve about 2 years ago. The first few months with the free version and eventually upgraded to the studio. I’ve been happy with it. Overall is great video editing software. There’s one thing that I wish they would improved. I get this Jello effect when I stabilize jumpy footage (warping). Drone hyperlapse videos mainly. 😕
I also dropped Adobe a couple of years ago and started to use Davinci Resolve and Canva for my TH-cam channel, but I bought Affinity Photo and it quickly became my favorite software for thumbnail. Sad part is that I'm studying graphic design and seem like every tutorial and class is on Adobe illustrator and almost none on Affinity Design.
Switched Premiere->FCPX->Resolve in 2019, and have seen Resolve develop massively in the last few years. There are still bugs and crashes in Resolve, but almost 100% of them happen in the Fusion page - Cut/Edit/Color/Deliver are *incredibly* stable -- but there do be gremlins in Fusion
You won't regret it. I too, came from Premiere Pro, and Resolve is just great. The workflow and tools are the best I have seen. They update it regularly and it astounds me every cool and useful feature they add on each Beta and eventual release.
I remember commenting on one of your videos a long time ago, asking if it had sense for you trying DaVinci Resolve. Years passed since then, but I'm glad you decided to make the switch.
I am planning to switch too at some point. Currently I am still enjoying the premier pro community free assets /presets to use because I believe Premier Pro has a big community out there than Resolv. Good luck with your journey!
I came from the very first Windows Movie Maker to Sony Vegas Pro 12 to Premiere Pro to Davinci Resolve last year and probably one of the best decisions I've ever made as it really made my editing works wayyyyyy eaasiier! This is very friendly for beginners too who wants get themselves familiarize in a Pro editing software.
Welcome to the club! I switched last year from Premiere, and I don't regret it at all. I was still holding onto Pr for small things like automatic captions, but with the last few updates Resolve is really catching up! Finally deleted Pr last week, and am super excited to now use Resolve full time!
I’ve been trying to learn (not very hard) DaVinci for the past two years. Picked it back up a couple of months ago and the changes are huge! Just a little jealous of your editing board… not gonna lie.
I'm 2 years with Resolve now (incl. the entire post production workflow for a long running series format for a big brand). so so so much happier with it.
I switch a while back and I am still learning the ins and outs but I really love the work flow. I found that "Darren Mostyn" TH-cam channel is probably the best for learning color grading. Cheers
Yeees man, yeeees! The power of colour managed workflow for grading! And all the AI power and cloud. Finally! 👏👏👏 I hope you see the beauty of Ursa 12k soon too ❤!
Welcome to the Blackmagic eco-system! It has its quirks, but big picture, it’s clearly the future 🔮 Definitely an engineering first company that actually listens to their customer base. I mean just looking at the updates since DaVinci 12, it’s nuts!
I love FCPX for quick vlog-style videos, that is where I do think the Magnetic timeline shines, but I agree once you start working on bigger projects with scenes shot on multiple days and multiple cameras, Final cut does fall short in my opinion. Premiere was my favorite for organizing media, but as you said, it is so buggy it's too frustrating to use. I am now also using Davinci, and though the media organization is not as good as Premiere, it's way better than FCPX. Plus, the more I learn about the color grading tools in Resolve, the more I love it. Jason
Welcome to the future, bro! I tried Premiere Pro, then Fireworks, the Hitfilm and when I tried Resolve, I fell in love with it. I don't wanna try another software, DaVinci is the best for me
You're going to fall in love with editing all over again! It's fresh. It's fast. Coming from FCP it is natural. Fusion will twist your brain but it's too late for that. Love seeing your excitement and can't wait to see your new stuff.
It's crazy how a few years ago when I switched to Davinci Resolve, not too much YT content was out for it compared to Premiere of FCPX. Now I see nothing but Resolve content lol crazy how it is finally the mainstream program!
I think I need a break from watching "filmmakers" on youtube. I feel like all they do is buying and reviewing new gear. And I rarely saw them produce any film to be honest. It pushes me into spending all days comparing and dreaming about best gear, and not really producing films, and making money
All the guys at corridor digital switched to resolve and they do some pretty serious work. They said the main reason for switching was instability in premier.
Resolve is amazing and my main editing tool too, mostly because of the color grading, which is what sets you apart as a pro. But it does have some serious cons, for me the stabilization on Resolve is useless, especially when compared to what AE and Premier can do, even FCPX has better stabilization than Resolve, I’ve tried every way to make the stabilization in Resolve do the same as Warp stabilizer but it just can’t. Also, Motion graphics and are not well optimized, if Resolve crashes, it’s often because of motion graphics or some compositing done by Fusion, don’t get me wrong, Fusion is very powerful for compositing but it’s not well optimized and AE and FCPX do a much better job at integrating motion graphics and VFX. Fusion is just complicated.. and right now there are very few plugins for Resolve that help you do exactly what you want. Still even with all that, Resolve is worth it, I’ve used FCPX most of my time and switched last year. The color grading is how good your image looks and the most important part of the video (after story of course 🤪) awesome video Matti!
Never had any issues with stablization with Resolve, pretty much rock solid for me. I wouldn't say it's not well optimized, it's basically having another program inside one program so it takes more ram so if you have 16GB or less than it can crash simply because of that. If you're solely doing motion graphics then sure AE has a big edge but for everything else Fusion excels in every way, it was used in movies and tv shows for like a decade, never had any issues with Fusion's optimization, you just need a lot of RAM if you wanna do complex stuff and not render them to disk. For plugins, you don't necessarily need plugins for a lot because the stock tools in Fusion are enough and after BM released DRFX, anything you make in the Fusion page can be turned into a drag and drop effect in the edit page and there are youtuvers like Mralextech, Jayartv, Patrick sterling have made 100s of presets and plugins and there are also companies like motionvfx, motion array are now seeing DR plhuins and presets.
Well done. I started using Resolve about a little under a year ago and I still feel like I'm only scratching the surface. However I have no regrets, just a steep learning curve...😂 One thing Resolve has taught me is how under powered my pc is. Make sure you have one super duper graphics card, since Resolve likes to use it specifically for editing. I have been learning that the hard way. Please create more videos about your progress learning Resolve, the pros and the cons. As always, keep up the good work and keep'em flying. Not the drones...🤣
Every filmmaker should be on DR, it’s seriously that good. Hardest part coming from PP will be the effects vocab. DR has slightly different vernacular so that can be a learning curve.
Ha! Just saw this notification pop up on the phone! After spending the last 6 hours struggling with Premiere Pro after its most recent update, including complete fresh reinstalls and everything else, I'm pretty close to jumping on the Resolve train
I'm studying Film Production at University doing a 3 year degree, I've been doing my TH-cam thing for a while now and stuck with Premiere Pro. Literally today I've just switched to Davinci and I'm not looking back. I've had two project files just disappear on me this week and those were my university assignments which had to be submitted this week. I had to do them all again on Premiere Pro and then I decided I've had enough. I'm making a short film as one of my assignments and I'm currently editing it on Davinci, its taking a little time to figure out where everything is, but I'm loving it so far. The colour grading Literally shits on PP for ease of use and functionality. I can't afford that editing kit yet, but I'm at least working on the Samsung Odyssey G9 monitor which helps my work flow. Next study year, I'm having to learn Avid Media Composer too. I can't wait.
Glad you are making the switch, I did so too, but for different reasons. My previous editing software from FXHome (Hitfilm) got bought by Artlist and now its future is in jeopardy and had been hearing about Resolve and after some research and finding out it can be used by us mere mortals that are not pro's at editing, I made the switch to an older version of Resolve as it'll work on an older PC, running a Core i5 processor so now run 12.5.1, for now. Been researching what to replace Hitfilm with and so hopefully will be able to make that upgrade soon to 18.5. I find, after doing Premiere, then Hitfilm and now Resolve, that once you learn the basics of NLE editing, most of the fundamentals will be similar between programs as far as basic editing is concerned, the devil is in the details of what they offer in terms of features, where they exist etc, outside of FCP's magnetic timeline, most of the various programs will have a similar functionality to them. Yes, in fusion and in coloring tabs in Davinci will cause some potential confusion as you get the hang of nodes and how they work, I find even with 12.5.1, which does not have Fairlight or Fusion, let alone the cut page, it is Resolve as we know it in many ways, but will work on older hardware OK. I did cut my editing teeth on tape editing back in the late 80's, early 90's but by the end of the 90's, began to learn NLE editing using a very early version of Premiere and a smattering of FCP, only to transition in the mid 2000's to full on NLE editing. Anyway, good luck with this change as I recognize that sometimes you must for good reasons make the change.
Many professionals may switch tools due to financial incentives or sponsorships. It is essential to conduct your own research and test the tools personally before switching tools.
when i first started my editing journey, i used wondershare filmora... literally the next step was da vinci . i know it sounds like a massive jump, but that's probably the best choice i've ever made in my life. let alone the fact that almost 90% of resolve's functionality is free...
Started out with Premiere, and was advised to stick to it but, I mean changing times, switching seems like a good idea, I can't wait to watch videos about your experience and what you've learnt over the period😁
agree with the bugs that almost seems to be tied to push you to new equipment . . . and then the rising rates ! I switched 15 months ago and after the learning curve was glad I moved on
So Matti we now need a tutorial on all the basics of Davinci from import to export, thanks for the video, I'll give it a try to resolve this month definitely, thanks.
Think the biggest factor why so many people love DaVinci, is the one time payment for the full version. None of this subscription junk that you feel like it's just another bill you have to pay each month. Second would be the ease of use of the program itself with how all the integrated graphics, sound design, color grading is all rolled into one program. You're not jumping back and forth between apps to edit and correct things that eats up time.
I started on Avid in 2003, mostly switched to Premiere in 2005 with some FC7 at times, my job in 2016 forced me to do some work in FCX (which I loved aspects of and also hated aspects) but I preferred working in Premiere when given a choice, but I fully made the switch to Resolve in 2019ish and never looked back. It’s one of the fastest, best looking, most convenient, and I agree had the best long term plan. Their upgrades have been solid and is loving fast.
Exactly. Everybody is hyping on DR but I still haven’t heard one GOOD reason to switch… FCP still the fastest and most stable. Have looked at many YT’ers switching but never ever heard something FCP cant do…?
I did the same last year! It s a fast learn curve with da vinci! And ghe nodes are fantastic. Davinci resolve is so simple, intuitive and at the same time so pro.
Nice! I’ve been using FCP for my edits and on some occasions, I’ll bake and blade my fcp project into Davinci Resolve. I love the editing feel of FCP but totally agree on the coloring of FCP. DR allows for more control. I’m not not fully ready to switch for editing to Davinci resolve.
Have always been on Davinci due to making videos as a hobby rather than professionally (I know, I know - in the minority here). I’ve loved it the whole time. It seems wildly intense as a program, but has been a fantastic learning curve. I’m glad more creators are heading in the DR direction!
Who else has made the switch or is switching and why?
He has come to the dark side to join us 🙌
Everyone we all switched here TH-cam welcome to the Davinci Resolve family!!
Colours.... simply the best software to edit raw footage. And with the new MacBook Pro M series.... It works so well.
it´s the ease of workflow and all-you-can-do with Resolve that intrigued me
I switched a few years ago because of stability and speed. Over time I've grown to love the interface and now I don't think I can ever go back to Premirere.
Not a single day passes where I regret moving from AP to DR. 6 years in and I just love Resolve as much as the first day. The quality of life is so improved for editing.
I am just now trying to learn adobe Premiere and I see what everyone was saying about all of the crashes. I am just working on a 30 sec ad in HD.
Believe me Matti, that was the best decision ever.
Thanks to God I don't have to switch, because it's already in the house 😅and gives me so much benefit to my videos. And it is super quick, and the new Update is really crazy!
Much love 💕

Very excited to see and learn how you will use DR. It was such a great switch for me a year ago. Never looked back.
I switched to Davinci. It never crashes, the color grading is amazing and i can edit really fast with it, really world class
Since you're getting the Studio version, you'll be glad to know that 18.5 includes editing from the autogenerated transcripts of your videos.
Just like Descript, which speeds a first cut TREMENDOUSLY.
DaVinci IS THE BEST!!! Nuff Said!!!! Been Using it since 2020
I also switched to DaVinci Resolve a few days ago after more than 10 years FCPX, and it's mind blowing! Last week I tried Premiere Pro for some days, that was just way to complicated to use in my opinion.
You find Premiere more complicate than Resolve. Interesting. I feel it's the opposite.
@@jeffschaap yes same here
I like Resolve studio. I prefer it over Premiere pro. But its (Premiere pro) certainly not more complicated.
Dude, I am SO EXCITED for the next chapter of Matti content!! Especially the documentary work, super excited for that!! 💪
Thanks dude 🙏🏻
Another one bites the dust! And by dust, I mean an incredible editing software. I switched from Premiere 2 years ago and the only time I’ve really looked back is the AI subtitles, but that’s all changing now. Glad to have you on team Resolve, Matti! 💪🏻
Yeap!
I do a lot of work for podcasts so the only reason I use premiere is for those projects where auto subtitles is so easy. Hoping resolve adds them soon!
@@eastonsmith8278 they have with the newest update 👍🏽
I also decided recently to switch from FCP to Resolve 😎
..currently learning the means of it
That was a backwards move. FCPX roundtrip is still so far superior to doing all in Resolve. Resolve is a clunky editor, just like Premiere.
Not completely free men! But compared to Premier,,, you nailed it.
Switched a few years ago for the business and my personal channel and it’s been an absolute game changer. Came from FCPX then Premiere to Resolve. Welcome to team Blackmagic, Matti!
Resolve basically rules in every area of post - and if you want to edit quickly the Speed Editor keyboard and the Cut Page are actually really great!
No destructive coming layers needed
, reusing stuff much easier etc. More After Effects user should be a look at a node based workflow. Welcome to the Davinvi Resolve community.
Love getting to see you excited about your next season of filmmaking! Thanks for taking us on the journey!
😊 I’m so pumped to learn right now.
Yep this is the way. Premiere would be great… if it worked 😂
I've been using it ever since and don't regret it a single day
It really does keep getting better. Enjoying the more I learn about it
DVR is moving in the right direction. I started with it about 3 years ago, and I chose well. It gets better as I improve and learn. All the bests, dan
So cool to hear that even someone with your experience can still hit a steep learning curve and learn so much so quickly. Thanks for sharing.
We made the switch from FCPX to Davninci recently and I don't know what took us so long. What an incredible software!
Exactly! It’s crazy how slow premiere is.
I got the Davinci Resolve Speed Editor back when it was $300 in v17, and it included Resolve pro license so I essentially got the Speed editor for free for buying the license. I'm still learning but it runs great on my older PC with GPU.
Good on you Matti! I made the switch recently myself and I love my min panel! Take care brother and keep em coming!
Would absolutely love to see your editing and color grading workflow. Definitely some tutorials on DaVinci would be awesome!
I spoke with Black Magic DaVinci at NAB Convention and is amazing how much effort and care they put in their updates.
You’re gonna love DR. It’s life changing
Welcome to the Resolve fam!
My best decision ever was switching to resolve, used to HATE editing but now i love it. Ended up just being frustration from premiere crashing and being SLOOOOOW 😂
Ps. I STRONGLY recommend trying the speed editor! It speeds up the cutting process a ton, specially for multicam stuff!
Honestly a must have in my opinion, specially when upgrading to studio its like 70€ more than just a license 👊🏻
It's worth it dude. After about 6 months I def prefer it over premiere!
I have the mini panel and edit fully in resolve. Looking forward to seeing your tutorials. I love DaVinci! They are constantly improving it!
Looking forward to learn it alongside you! I'm switching too.
Been using Resolve for 3 weeks now….still learning…and I absolutely love it! 😎
Cheers
Nice thanks for the suggestion
@@mattih Darren Mostyn And Cullen Kelly 😀🤘
Welcome back to DR! I’ve been using it for several years and it’s just solid. 📸😎
Yeees man, yeeees! The power of colour managed workflow for grading! And all the AI power and cloud. Finally! 👏👏👏
I hope you see the beauty of Ursa 12k soon too ❤!
Welcome to the Blackmagic eco-system! It has its quirks, but big picture, it’s clearly the future 🔮
Definitely an engineering first company that actually listens to their customer base.
Welcome to the light, sir!
You will love it! It’s all I have used for the last two years. Everyone I meet, I tell to switch.
Good choice! I made the switch in 2013 and never looked back to anything. So happy about it!
However I have no regrets, just a steep learning curve...😂
One thing Resolve has taught me is how under powered my pc is.
Switched about a month ago! Made me love editing again. Still learning it, but it's already really nice. Glad I switched.
Welcome my brotha! 💯✊🏼🎬
Ha! Just saw this notification pop up on the phone! After spending the last 6 hours struggling with Premiere Pro after its most recent update, including complete fresh reinstalls and everything else, I'm pretty close to jumping on the Resolve train
Classic. More features but the core product just doesn’t work right now.
@@mattih Dude, right now it's the worst it's ever been. And that's saying something! I may have to just download Resolve to power through this edit
Super excited about this resolve journey ! You won’t regret it I promise
Made the switch from Premiere Pro just under 2 years ago to Resolve. One of the best decisions in my career.
Sooo looking forward to seeing you using Davinci Resolve 👏🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
can't wait for your LUTs and some motion graphics too. Welcome to the Studio (resolve!)
when i first started my editing journey, i used wondershare filmora... literally the next step was da vinci . i know it sounds like a massive jump, but that's probably the best choice i've ever made in my life. let alone the fact that almost 90% of resolve's functionality is free...
Congrats. I have only used DaVinci Resolve because it's free. But it is legit amazing.
One of the biggest reasons to try it out
Started out with Premiere, and was advised to stick to it but, I mean changing times, switching seems like a good idea,
I can't wait to watch videos about your experience and what you've learnt over the period😁
Good choice Matti!!! I switched 5 months ago and it was beacuse i loved how fast resolve was in a budget laptop that i had.
agree with the bugs that almost seems to be tied to push you to new equipment . . . and then the rising rates ! I switched 15 months ago and after the learning curve was glad I moved on
So Matti we now need a tutorial on all the basics of Davinci from import to export, thanks for the video, I'll give it a try to resolve this month definitely, thanks.
Great choice! I switched to Davinci sometime last year and never looked back
Think the biggest factor why so many people love DaVinci, is the one time payment for the full version. None of this subscription junk that you feel like it's just another bill you have to pay each month. Second would be the ease of use of the program itself with how all the integrated graphics, sound design, color grading is all rolled into one program. You're not jumping back and forth between apps to edit and correct things that eats up time.
I switched awhile ago. Guess I was ahead of the curve on that. Glad to see better youtubers switch so I can learn from ya lol.
Exciting to see your film evolution 😀👍
I started on Avid in 2003, mostly switched to Premiere in 2005 with some FC7 at times, my job in 2016 forced me to do some work in FCX (which I loved aspects of and also hated aspects) but I preferred working in Premiere when given a choice, but I fully made the switch to Resolve in 2019ish and never looked back.
It’s one of the fastest, best looking, most convenient, and I agree had the best long term plan. Their upgrades have been solid and is loving fast.
FCP does render while you work. That is super fast I think. Does Davinci do that?
great video!
but, what are some pro tools that you find in Davinci but not in FCPX?
Interesting workflow!
I literally just switched to DaVinci yesterday! Great timing
Have always been on Davinci due to making videos as a hobby rather than professionally (I know, I know - in the minority here). I’ve loved it the whole time. It seems wildly intense as a program, but has been a fantastic learning curve. I’m glad more creators are heading in the DR direction!
