Great Video'thanks for sharing. A bit ironic to see that the Water Authority left their CRAPPY pump house standing but demolished all the other beautiful buildings!!
I have to say this is one of the best videos that I’ve seen of Ladybower Reservoir and the remains of Derwent village. Thank you for making and posting it. I think the reason for this is that it was all shot by drone which gives a much better overview of the valley, and what was destroyed by the water company in the name of supposed progress. Given the fact that this reservoir runs very low quite often makes me wonder why it was built in the first place, it seems rather pointless. Especially given the fact that many people had their lives disrupted, and their homes, destroyed as a consequence.
Hi there a fantastic bit of drone footage there ! I wondered how you managed to get clearance to film over national trust land as I'm getting conflicting directions from different people your advice would be much appreciated
As far as I am aware they were built for the existing village water supply, prior to the dam being built and then submerged along with the village. There are 3 in total.
When I filmed originally there was no restriction, I then returned a few weeks later as the dams were filling up around Xmas time and there were restriction notices everywhere.
Unfortunately that seems the norm now up around the peak district. severn trent are not intrested in allowing anyone who is a hobbiest pilot to fly over the land t hey own. Same goes for the national trust and english heritage. Great footage by the way
Why waste a good 6 minutes on filming an old pumphouse that has absolutely nothing to do with the village? Could have been an interesting 10 minute film.
If you’re that concerned, might I suggest you get your arse off your sofa and go film it yourself. Try showing some damned gratitude for the fact that somebody has gone to the trouble of filing it, albeit not to your extremely high standards and satisfaction and posted this video. If you don’t like a video, keep your comments to yourself.
@@garfstiglz3981 I would, but having a few cardiac problems and two types of cancer I'm under doctor's orders to keep my arse firmly affixed to said sofa. My extremely high standards might stem from the fact that I was a professional photographer for 54 years before ill health forced my retirement.

Enjoyed the video I can remember going there in 1976 and 1996 wish I had a camera on both times.

Only so far, some walked further out but got stuck and had to be rescued.
Thanks did you take a walk in there?
What was the purpose of the pump house?

@@gabbyg1 Thank you. I thought they were associated with the preparation of the reservoir.
