Imo this is how her voice works best. To me it seems like lyrics don't fit her really well. Her voice is best unleashed unbound by words :D
she was a vocal teacher, backup singer for years, very good. shes the reason i got dreads, started 8 years ago now they are like hers.
As a Heilung fan, it's so weird to se Maria without antlers!

I'm a musician, and I believe Maria is one of the most talented vocalist I have ever heard, better than any mainstream American. I have almost all their Heilung albums, she take her vocals to a whole new level. In this song, they way she can do that primal scream over and over so perfectly everytime, just amazing!

I never heard of Euzen before until today when I came across Heilung (never heard of before either) and I was blown away by it. I wanted to know who the Beautiful Unique Singer was and came across Euzen. Beautiful Singing and Music!!

She mentioned in a recent interview when asked what performance she had enjoyed most, a performance at Castlefest with Euzen. I feel it must be this one, and this moment the pinnacle of it. No wonder it is also the thumbnail of this video. Just once in our life...
I imagine this gig is the one where they realised their absolute potential. I saw them a while before this and it was clear even then (I think it was their third ever gig, supporting Christopher's other band of the time, Valvravn) that they were going to outgrow Denmark very very quickly.

I know I've left friendly comments in the past near decade. This half Native American and Dane still finds this the perfect song for late autumn. In the summer days, super hot and humid, this number still makes this synesthetic cozy. Fills one with an "it's a cold room with friends" vibe, it's hard to explain. This is why you are so good at your art as a group. You all find that space as musicians to fill or void. Somehow, being hot in a room that is lukewarm, this song cools me off like being nude in the late hours under the stars but without having neighbors in a too warm for comfort house. Thank you again for all your art and for being cool with our conversations a few years ago.

Enchanting music. Euzen was after hearing Heilung just out of curiosity. The music is spellbinding and the singer Maria is adorable.....
Akin to many of the other commentators here, my personal introduction to Euzen was through Heilung. Every time she takes command of the microphone, it's like a hypnotic and spellbinding transcendental experience. I hope that she, Mr. Juul, and the remainder of her entourage remain in good health and may the Gods grant them success in their future musical endeavors/projects.
Have traveled threw the 9 realms and every Goddess is envious of her beauty. The God's gather every time she sings. Truly there's nothing to match the daughters of man. Our sheild maiden's are the only hope for earth and mankind.
In recent years the world has a critical shortage of things sincere, unironic, direct, heartfelt. Where good people just present honestly what they feel. Either Euzen is doing exactly this or my detectors are all messed up. I'm melting with the knowledge that they exist and are holding forth like this.
That's some powerful complex spellsinging, really great. Also love the bassists utter commitment to the feeling :)
A refreshing discovery for my musical week!
I have been discovering this singer over the past year. I am not ashamed to admit as a man, I am almost moved to tears by her vocals. I am going through some emotional situations right now too. Its like her voice is acupuncture, hitting the right points within you. No wonder she's in Heilung.

I know with how wildly successful Heilung has been it makes sense for them to prioritize that, but at least as of mid 2021 they were actively working on a new album. 2.5 years isn't THAT long for band hiatuses.
It's like much needed food for the soul just hearing something done with genuine feeling, artistry and originality.

I totally didn't put 2 and 2 together till recently, I remember listening to Euzen years ago and when they came out with Heilung and Songleikr it didn't click until recently. This was always a kool band, different than what they are known for now.
I really like the atmospheric layering with the synth in this.

I am completely frozen when I listen to EUZEN. I can't describe it but I haven't experienced this before with any band and I listen to a lot of off the wall underground stuff. This composition of emotions weighs heavy! Thank you EUZEN for making me feel alive again!

Absolutely Love This color of Maria!! Heilung brings so many Ancient Environments, but i danced to Bjork at my local club, and I get that nostalgia from this, with such a Vibrant Resurgence!! Thank Yall for All Yall Do!!!
Since we’re explaining why we’re here.... I’d basically given up on listening to music in general. Then one day while installing ductwork in an attic I tried Pandora radio again and it did me well by straying away from Five finger death punch for a moment and The Hu (Mongolian folk metal) cover of Metallica’s “sad but true” played (and keep in mind I’m working with my hands just to have a job master’s degree I got is nothing more than a memory) and I thought what’s this?! Started a station from it and found Heilung. Her voice? Joy. I am so fulfilled that I did just that little bit of research after a few listens. Tremendous. (If one can believe Google) “elding” cannot even poses enough power as exists within that wonderful girl.

I'm in full agreement. It's amazing what some additional delay and reverb can do - adds dimension to the song and makes it sound less flat. I think there is more sparkle in the vocals on this live version too. The other thing is the musicians are in a more interactive environment and can play off each other more like they would in a jazz gig - get more of an opportunity to feel the song. I love this live version, it sounds epic! The live engineer for this gig deserves some props, this is mixed perfect.
Totally agree. This song and the others live from Castlefest 2015 are very airy. The vocal is amazing, and the whole instrumentation feels more organic and groovy.
@@Boogietized Seeing how the keyboardist is the main audio nut for both Euzen and Heilung I wouldn't be surprised if he mixed and produced the audio for this and the other castlefest vids himself.

You guys are some of the best musicians that I've ever come across. You seem to use some complicated time signatures and some very complex keys that wouldn't work if you guys weren't such skilled and talented musicians. In short, you rock! Seeing you guys perform live is in the top 10 on my bucket list! ;)
The only time I saw them the same week their first album came out, it was like watching a band who'd been performing for years, they were that tight. And the sound was INCREDIBLE. Probably the most professional new band I've ever seen.

What a performance!
Just WOW when she sings in heilung she has her eyes covered, but when she sings in this group she is no longer a mystic figure, her eyes are just as majestic as her voice
Maria is even charming sat behind a mech desk selling merch for her boyfriend's band.
I'm also told she even looks very sweet on the bus to her day job. One of the great things about "star status" in the Nordic countries is that, when compared with people who have a similar "per capita" levels of success in the USA would be driven around in limos and lose touch with the realities of life, they are able to remain earthed, grounded and artistically driven.
Euzen deserved so much success. They never got it. But they never became crap. That's an achievement in itself.
Damn....these guys should be headlining arenas.
Pretty sure with the right promotion they could fill the Genting Arena in Birmingham, UK. That's a 16K capacity. They've had Castlefest rapt, just need to get a few more people over here to hear them.

Ran across this working and having left autoplay on. Had never heard you before. What a great performance. I kept having flashes of Bjork but you have your own tone and style. Very mellow and draws you in with the lyrics. Love the voice!
