I work at I-25 and Woodmen. Saw the weather predictions the nite before. Packed extra clothes, etc. At 10 am on this day, went on line and got a hotel room at I 25 and Academy. Work let out early. It was already a white out blizzard disaster. I got to my hotel and was able to get to work the next morning. I have a 2011 Jeep Rubicon lifted on 35's but there is not much you can do in a white out blizzard.
No need to be stuck, we had plenty of warning of the storm. Plenty. People ignored it and got stuck. Own fault, all were warned to stay home except those who work emergency services or hospitals.
Yup. There were even many warning sings on those big LED screens that give people updated warnings... yet semi trucks were still driving until the last exit? I wanted to see what was at the end, and get footage of where the highway was closed... Paid off and saw what I came to see. haha
I love the cop & support him 100%. The dude in the Pick up is like WTF, Why are you beating on my truck? Because you are trying to do something stupid like going down an on-ramp the wrong way. Oh, I'm sorry officer, I just seen that other guy do it & thought it was o.k. Officers response, Sir , please stop thinking.
And why didn't the DoT shut down this highway? And I always wonder how many of these drivers really needed to be on the road? Oh well. Enjoyed the video, just wish it had been longer.
Thanks for sharing. Hope that got in vest makes it thru his shift without heart attack!! He was getting some cardio in!! I'm in California, oh and I'm loving your glasses 👍
cop to people trying to escape snowmageddon, "get back in line and freeze to death like everyone else", 7 hours later...cop, "you know sir, we made a mistake you can exit in reverse, sorry for putting you through hell"
I love to see lots of snow...I just dont like the stranded & wrecking parts...but that's life....I wants lots of Snow here in Junction city ks on Christmas, but after then no more here unless its 4th of july when it's almost 100° degrees. 🏆🏆🏆🏆🥇🥇🏅🏅🎖🎖🎖🎖🎖🖐🏽🖐🏽
People here in Florida always ask me. How do you drive in ice and these conditions ? I tell them you don’t you stay at home ! Here in Florida when there is a hurricane coming everything is shut down at least 2 days before
I was in my Jeep Patriot, with newish tires it handles this stuff like nothing. Saw plenty of sedans spinning their tires though. Funny thing is, I used to drive a FWD Saturn and still drove around in blizzards. Moral of the story, BUY NEW FREAKING TIRES! Not that they solve all traction issues, but makes a difference. If you can't afford new tires, don't drive at all, not safe in any types of weather. :) And the officer assumed since I was northbound that I had a reason to go there, but I was there for the storm, and shenanigans. I live further south where there was less snow. What I cut out was my conversation about if it was possible to get back to my area, knowing my vehicle I could make it as long as cars hadn't blocked my path. After I got south of Garden of the Gods, it was mostly rain/slush so wasn't hard to get home at the least. Shelters were there for people who didn't have any capability to get home.
@@TrevorCokley I agree about the tires. I have an 06 4Runner Sport and I put Blizzaks all around for the winter this year. I just bought the vehicle last August with only 62,800 miles on it. :) I also bought new All Seasons when I bought it. I'm like you, if anything, I want to have good tires when driving. The Blizzaks were flawless in every condition, snow, ice, you name it going uphill. I will be taking them off this weekend I think, or the following for sure. I want to keep as much traction on them as possible. I live in Pa.
Man, I am a wuss, If we have a 1/2 inch of snow here in East Texas, we all stay home, except for our heros, the electric coop guys! Glad I switched my thermostat from ac to heat last week!
Those people tried using common sense by getting off the freeway and that officer acts a fool and blocks them..... Yet later own, when the officers decide its a good idea, its ok to do just that. Drive off the interstate on the get on ramp. Where's the chalk board? I need to do my nails......
Eh they hadn't yet established control or a plan, at that point traffic was still moving, albeit slow and people going down the on ramp were probably creating a hazard. Later, something blocked the final exit and they couldn't get a tow out because there were people passing using the shoulder, as trucks were stuck blocking most of the road anyways. Not sure where the hell the semis were going? There were signs for miles prior explaining the highway was closed... Obviously I knew, that's why I was there. lol
you should have got off the on the on ramp..and don't worry so much about other drivers in a situation like that its every man for himself..other people will be thinking of themselves already so you don't have to . thanks
does people in this country know there are snow in other countries and that we in Norway consider this more a normal winter. Best of luck next time, alltough you dont need it.
Oh don't mind that, I just approve comments before posting and forgot to deal with it. Not that I discourage feedback, but I won't allow my comment section to turn into a cesspool... Yet. Until it becomes too big to handle, but we're not there yet. haha
What a miserable place to live. Go figure. Lived there a couple of years when stationed at For Carson. Never will go anywhere near that state. Crap weather.
I don't get it, every year is the same thing with these stupid people, They live in this kind of weather , Why don't spend some money and buy a winter tires ?
Should have backed up the ramp. I love this kind of thing, I enjoy seeing how everyone reacts along with who's prepared. Some people are in complete denial and think others are stupid for planning ahead. As we can see FWD cars suck in the snow, you can't go, stop or steer but they go like hell in reverse.

COLORADO SPRINGS IS LIKE THIS EVERY DAY!!! DO NOT MOVE HERE...YOU WON’T SURVIVE!!! Stay wherever you are currently living do not move here!
Don’t worry. No one is moving to that crap state anyway.
All of those entirely capable four wheel drives stuck behind regular cars. That's got to be frustrating.
That semi spinning its tires was my favorite part
Nice vid! I'm happy to see more of these videos getting shared to TH-cam! Thanks for sharing. 😀
Wow! Thanks! We got lucky in Idaho - it missed us and nailed you! Glad you are safe.🙏🏻🇺🇸

😂😂😂😂😂
There were SO many snow drifts around my house after the storm
Typical winter weather in Colorado. 80 to 90 mile an hour winds with snow, makes for an icy mess and zero visibility. Don’t miss those winds at all.
Me as a person that lives in Colorado Springs the Blizzard was horrible.
And if your a mailman we still deliver in this shit
I'm glad I moved to Georgia from Colorado I'm in shorts an t shirt today.
I’ve driven to Colorado Spring but never in the mist of winter. WOW 😲
Dang how did Pueblo not get a single flake????
Why I live in NC
CANNOT HANDLE THAT CRAP
to be fair to the drivers, the winds were a 100mph that day. I held on to a sign in the parking lot and my feet almost lifted up
They can’t reverse the traffic and use the on ramp to get out? Wow.
They eventually did...… After Barnie prevented people from doing it on their own.
Typically , March and April are the snowiest months. It might not be over yet. Here in Amarillo, we just had high winds and no snow.
Here in boston we did not get 1 nor easter or blizzard this year, total of only 25 inches
I lived in the Springs before and seen some crazy weather but never this!!
That Toyota in front of him in the beginning has a Texas plate so I don’t know if he knows how to drive in snow
No need to be stuck, we had plenty of warning of the storm. Plenty. People ignored it and got stuck. Own fault, all were warned to stay home except those who work emergency services or hospitals.

So when the road is covered with snow like this and drivers can't move, what do they do??????
I love the cop & support him 100%. The dude in the Pick up is like WTF, Why are you beating on my truck? Because you are trying to do something stupid like going down an on-ramp the wrong way. I miss the Springs but not the crazy blizzards!
And why didn't the DoT shut down this highway? And I always wonder how many of these drivers really needed to be on the road? Oh well. Enjoyed the video, just wish it had been longer.
That cop was having a horrible day.

Jan. 1, 2019----What surprises me is the truck drivers AREN'T chained up? And of course, all the regular cars/trucks aren't either.
@4:07 This is what can happen every year, snow blizzards in Northern Alaska. The drive is fun and scary at the same time. Up the Dalton Hwy.
That was a crazy storm I live in Colorado
I'm gonna broadcast this...
Weather wouldn't be such an issue if people had common sense
Lol I'm so glad I didn't have to work that day, they even closed my work
Man that's scary stuff ! Hope you all are good ?
Hey but when you're stuck in that and your kids have to pee.
I live in Denver Colorado to and I went in a storm to Northglenn to Centennial and came back like nothing yeah it was bad my but my truck made it
People here in Florida always ask me. How do you drive in ice and these conditions ? I tell them you don’t you stay at home ! Here in Florida when there is a hurricane coming everything is shut down at least 2 days before
thank
Yeah try driving here in the winter in my state which is alaska
This is the best but how do they get home. Get caught is like spot death.
et les chaines c'est pour les chiens?
Lived in Colorado Springs 21 years till Jesus/God brought me to Kansas.
What are you driving? Why do people have to stay at shelters or Hotels, are you not allowed to try going home if you live nearby?
I was in my Jeep Patriot, with newish tires it handles this stuff like nothing. Saw plenty of sedans spinning their tires though. What happened after you got off 25?
I went home, got my footage and sent it out. haha
Man, I am a wuss, If we have a 1/2 inch of snow here in East Texas, we all stay home, except for our heros, the electric coop guys! Glad I switched my thermostat from ac to heat last week!
AWWW....... no one has commented on your plight.

thats why I took the bus during snow storms. forget driving and taking forever to get to your destination.
I would have walked home. People track 50 miles on hikes all the time..once wouldn't hurt anyone.
Why are there so many people out? Where are y’all even going lol
you should have got off the on the on ramp..and don't worry so much about other drivers in a situation like that its every man for himself..other people will be thinking of themselves already so you don't have to .
thanks

What a miserable place to live. Go figure. Lived there a couple of years when stationed at For Carson. Never will go anywhere near that state. Crap weather.
Step 1: check the CDOT reports
Step 2: check the accuweather radar
Step 3: stay the eff home in your pajamas
i know should have saw falcon :( i was stuck in it
Wow

why is that other driver turning right?
I don't get it, every year is the same thing with these stupid people, They live in this kind of weather , Why don't spend some money and buy a winter tires ?
Tire chains.
Thank God I live in New Jersey. 🙄
Don't the Americans have a met office?
Why stop, just keep driving..we get this in Kentucky all the time and never see traffic come to a stop.
👩💼🐺 stay safe ❤️
This is out storms used to be when I grew up in the 80's........This is normal, people who don't like it need to leave Colorado.
