How to REALLY Use the Ion Engine in KSP... HACKS!!

- The ion engine is one of the worst engines in KSP. Not because it's inefficient (it's pretty good in that area) but because it CAN'T DO ANYTHING. Well, not anymore! This video describes how to... get around... the thrust limit of 100%.
Technically, this works for any other engine as well, but you have to tame it then otherwise your engine flies off your rocket and nothing else happens. - เกม

I had no idea this was a thing you could do. You've essentially made an infinite warp drive

I actually made a relatively infinite fuel but no overclock plane with a warp drive that is to be delivered to the KLOS
Nice, although the "upside down engine" doesn't need to be upside down, it can be anywhere and in any orientation. It doesn't produce negative thrust

True. I just find it easier to think about if it is upside-down.
It does produce negative thrust. This is an uneducated comment so I must correct you. It needs to produce negative thrust in order to constantly replenish the fuel supply to produce infinite delta v.

@@jpase sorry I had a sudden loss of brain cells, it needs to consume negative fuel not generate negative thrust

not gonna lie, the effects are 1000 times more better than normal engines, like a kinda futuristic engine

i pretty much did this but with a docking port drive. the plane i used couldn't handle the g forces and the heat of travelling through the lower atmosphere at 3 kilometers a second

@@theturtle5591 kal is used to make contraptions such as a walking robot or a foldable heatsheild. You can also abuse it and do to same thing as the guy in the video. You should learn on how2kal9000

I am not sure. It is pretty hard to edit the KAL controller on xbox in the first place, so that would be something you'd just have to try.

It's not working bro I m seeing some bright flashes because of my engine light mod but that's all nothing more than that
Make sure you have one engine with a greater than 100% thrust limit (the video shows you how to do this) and another engine with less than 0% thrust limit.
Also, f you do this with a powerful engine, it will tear itself off the ship so you have to tame the thrust. That's why I like to use the ion engine.

@@RufflesKerman yeah the breaking ground dlc is available but when trying to tweak the kal-1000 in the action group, it's missing the throttle setting

How to make a maneuver?
(sorry, google-translate)
You may have found out by now, but you click on your apoapsis and there you will receive a prompt to create a maneuver, you then use the different orbital nodes in the maneuver "pop up" as I call it, to adjust your orbit altitude as well as your inclination.
This works on any engine, btw... if ur rocket can handle it... (Try doing this with Mammoth engines. I dare you.)

Also you can use infinite fuel and zero gravity, ion engines will work much better!

Kal 1000's are extremely broken in ksp.
You can use no negative trust - more "realism", just fore "more power" when you realy nead this.
