"Live freely" is such a gauche thing because it can only be said by very rich and young
99.9% of us focus more on "enjoy my free time"

Unfortunately this happens way too often in reality. People rebel over nothing even if it ends up ruining their lives. There's a reason why in order to bend or break the rules you first need to understand why the rules exist in the first place.

I saw kids like this all the time growing up especially when they are trying to be more mature.
Most ruined their lives because they didn't grow out of it until consequences were actually enforced as teenagers or adults

I've rarely met a rich kid growing up that was a fully actualized person, strife and personality are what build your ego

IF Mc Ended with Mary she will also bury him in Quagmire with herself due to rebellious nature

Imagine a rich guy graduating at a prestigious university and still ended up jobless. I hate to say it, but this MC is quite unmotivated. Even as an adult he need to ask his brother what to do in life.

He was gonna be a teacher. His brother said he should look into investing but that was probably to get close to the FMC

Any type of exercise at night leaves me wide awake all night, found that out when I used to work a 2-10 pm labor job

It was kinda sad the end for Mary, but at least it was only 3 months and from there she could change her life for the better.

Just a long depressing story about two persons who doesn't know what they want and doesn't end up together.

I have to kinda disagree. I feel like George did know what he wanted, he wanted to give his relationship with Mary a chance since he felt that he _could_ fall in love with her. The problem was that Mary was mad that their meeting was through their parents that she was purposely putting roadblocks in the way. The only difference between this story and many others on this channel was George realized in 6 months what his other incarnations took years to recognize, 'if she isn't putting any work into the relationship and belittling the work that you do, just leave it.'

NGL I do think this George is high functioning autistic. While its good to have a schedule and ethics, anybody would get a bit bored and irritated being with a person if there was no room for change or indulgence
Its fine not to drink but you should at least try to go out a bit on the wilder side especially if your GF does, plus you kind of need to know what she's like in these environments when you aren't around and compared to when you are. Also I do regret not going out of the wilder side in college more because after 23 the chances greatly reduce and its not as fun

That is just crap. If you aren't for the 'wild' then why even go. It's just a waste of your time to go and do something that you know that you completely uninterested in. Not everyeone is a partyer as Mary was. I got drunk once in my life and that was enough for me. Also, why does one need to 'know' what someone is like in these 'situations'. This phrase practically screams lies and manipulation. If a party makes you suddenly change into a different person, then the 'real' you isn't who you've been portraying yourself as everyday.

Finally, a very realistic story. In fact it would have almost been better if Mary never came back begging, considering the circumstances:
Mc- is more mature (far more) than his peers (rich 2nd gen)
Mary- was a spoiled child, even though she's an adult.
Mary continued the university/college lifestyle even after that age (23 at start of story) because her family had enough $$$ to spoil her. She isn't a bad person per say (arguable if any of her actions really constituted cheating/betrayal of relationship excluding excepting a guys # request...TBF, Mc had already annulled the engagement by then so fair), she just wanted to play around. Whilst her reason (being afraid of being mocked by friends) is reasonable, it's only reasonable to the extent that since she has such a spoiled life along with her peers, she's never had to "work hard" or "strive to achieve" to the extent that she's never faced rejection/afraid to experience it for once....which as a 23 yr old is ridiculously (I assume you have to be very rich to even have a chance of that). In my opinion it would have been better, for Mary to finally grow up normally (learn to support herself without family background influence assisting) & eventually meeting MC again where she relays how she now admires MC for having been so mature when they were young. No real need for her to be in prisoned
