We have a black Australorp that got hit by a train while free ranging, broken wing, torn thigh muscle and clipped about half her tail off. Lost 6 other hens in the same event. She healed up and is our largest and now healthy layer.
My brother raised pure strain Austrlorps for years. They were always black never the bluish color like yours. I’d say this chicken is likely an Americana or Auracana hen. Buying chicks at the feed store ect. is a common mishap for it to be misplaced after being handled, or someone is badly mistaken. None the less, it’s still a pretty neat deal for the kids I’d say. 🤠
Fun fact.. the little colored patch around the chickens Jawbone gives you a real good idea of what color that eggs going to be. And count me in on any Big Blue genetics I'll be your first customer if possible

I’m trying to raise chickens but I want multiple breeds not just one or two and I will give you a little tip that you don’t have enough hands for the three roosters you have do you need 3 to 4 hands rooster at the least.🤘🏻
I have a couple polish hens and i always trim there mop top so they can see. don't trim to much but just enough around there eyes so they can see. Also, thats all i have is black australorp? I was told mine were blue? hens besides my two polish and i have never seen a blue egg from them. Mine are all brown. But these hens i've always heard them call blue australorp hens? not black? Either way. they are beautiful hens and they lay amazing eggs. So congrats on the blue lol

I can tell you that that is not an austrolorp we have two of them and they are a lot darker than that one, they probably messes up which chickens you got at the store you got them from.

Hey whats up , I honestly dont think thats a Australorp Hen . The one you have has white ear lobes which tells you it will lay white or blue eggs . Austrlorps lay brown eggs so it should have a dark ear lobe if it was a Austrlorp
It’s not a black aus obviously because it’s blue lol. We breed black aus chickens and that’s a EE chicken but may have came from a black aus due to the blue color. The blue comes from black crosses where 25% come out blue but they will lay a large brown egg.

You should pick up a hovabater! and incubate the blue eggs then you would know for sure in a couple weeks! Super easy to do and cheap!

They run whatever Fun and Sun gives them. They switched from Skeeter to Pheonix because they had a deal with Mercury and Skeeter is a Yamaha product.
