In 1967/8 I built a Revell Cutty Sark that turned out pretty well for an 18 year old beginner. When doing the rigging, I dragged every inch of string - repeatedly - through a small block of beeswax. I wore a groove in my thumb, but 52 years later, the rigging has not relaxed or loosened at all (throughout humidity and temperature changes in the different environments it’s been moved to) and still looks like the day I finished in ‘68. I simply leave this as a tip after having watched you work with “limp” string on a previous build. It’s worth experimenting to save you time and exasperation in getting uncooperative lines into knots at exact lengths. I truly enjoy watching you work and look forward to my TH-cam evenings to see what you’re building.
Was watching your build whilst laboriously cutting copper tape into tiny lengths for my first ever attempt at coppering and saw you doing full lengths - changed immediately and at 1/72 no one will notice
I’ve built a couple of wooden ship kits, I bought a rigging frame which made things much easier. My new Bartsharp airbrush arrived today, can’t believe how good quality it is for the low price, thanks for the recommendation!
Loving your vibe and pace. I never rush a build, fully savour every piece. I just got this kit, looks amazing. I'm going to do out of the box with no changes/mods/upgrades. I have the full english instructions if you want a copy. Also one of the biggest hints I see after doing 100s of hours of research on this kit is a simple one but it shows up time after time, which is, make sure 100% your cannons are stuck in place, if they fall into the decks, you will almost never get it back in place as most of the decks are sealed.
That is one large model and you've set yourself an enormous task, Alex....especially going back and adding all the DAFI parts. You accept challenges and push your way through without giving up and this one is no different. Good on you for persevering!
Hi, I am currently building the Revell 1:225 HMS Victory and have recently built the Acheron, Bounty, the battleship Prince of Wales. All with a smile :) But this is a completely new level. I wouldn`t dare try. As with a lot of people the rigging would just send me insane. I am looking forward to see this one take shape. Thanks for sharing
Last week I ordered this model and today it just arrived. I cannot wait to start it. I will definitely be using these videos for reference and tips. Thanks for the great vids!
Im so happy i have break in job(truck say i dont work any more). Sooo nice to have something nice to watch on youtube when U wait for service!😂 Nice job, my Victory its still in box, no i made research about Victory.
This is a very good series of build videos that evolves with time, but to the good. Just like life. Only negative for me is the ever present music. Seems to be all over TH-cam at the moment! Matter of individual taste. Otherwise, top notch.
This is looking really great! I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. (I live only 10 minutes' drive from where 'Victory' was built!) I believe it is correct that the interior was painted red, and for the reason given.

Love watching your relaxed video style and great modelling skills. As I've said on Frankie Day's build video of this impressive subject, this kit is a beast. Modelling with a smile - fully agree, and you are showing the way. Subscribed.
Amazing build so far. Will add this particular ship to my shopping list. I’ve got Heller’s Golden Hind 1/200 scale. But the details on this, my oh my 👌 Greetings from Iceland 🇮🇸
Little bit of criticism, I saw the Victory about 2 days ago, and I think she had unpainted walls, don't forget the two forward facing cannons on the forecastle are shorter guns, with a heavier shot.
Loving your build Alex, Very Nice Indeed, finally managed to purchase this a few minutes ago. I now have a lot of ship building to do, also with the Soleil Royal and the USS United states among others in my stash. Currently on a smaller scale Carrack the old Pyro kit " Santa Catarina do Monte Sinai" but it has some beautiful detail on it for a 60yr old kit.
@@AlexModeling Yes that's correct Alex. It's a small kit though 54 yrs old from the Company PYRO who don't exist anymore. The hull by itself is only 26cm long but the architecture on the moulds is really good, a lot of very intricate painting.
insane skill ALEX :) you make it all look so easy, damn it ! looking forward to the photo etch and the rigging i have airfix victory kit to do so this is inspiration for me .THANK YOU BROTHER :)
Hi Alex, really good videos of this build. Just a couple of things I hope helps on the model though. I believe that the ships boats are clinker built, that's with the hull planks overlapping a little. Also on the inside of the boats there are frames. Those boats I saw with you look like they have smooth carvel planking, no internal frames and the seats (thwarts) don't look very convincing. As they will be sitting on the top of the deck of the model in a very prominent position I think a man of your skills could do a lot better than the kit. Also the interior colour of Victory is white but I think the edges of the gun ports are painted red. Maybe at Trafalgar it was all red. I don't know but now its white.

Amazing construction Alex. See you at the next video my friend ;)
I like your work Alex, all my respect, but for godsake please deactivate those ads, 7 ads cut for a 30mn vid !!!! Thats a crime to cut your amazing work and detailling with ads. Please !
I am really hoping your wood deck does not raise itself. For those of you going this route, make sure you sand off all the raised wood deck on the model before applying it. promotes a flatter surface for everything to adhere to.
Wow what a beautiful build so far. The deck that Fingers sent you is awesome, makes the kit really "pop". How long did it take to build all the cannons? Again excellent work on the build, this will probably be on of the most challenging kits you have done. Have a great week and stay safe and healthy brother. As always my very best to your family and friends. 👌👍🇵🇹🤝🇺🇸
Very nice build Alex... looking forward to the super detailed DAFI build. Can you tell me where you bought the Dexter hobby knife you use in the video because I cannot seem to find it on the internet?
Thank you! Its an ochre color i mixed after reading the proportions of the Paint used back then with some help of Old yellow ochre Victory paints. The deck is from scale decks. To be honest even with the planking até scale i would prefer the OOB One. But it was a gift from a good friend and so i am using it
The HMS Victory is a 20 minute drive from my home. I have tried to build this ship a couple of times but get disheartened when it comes to the rigging.
Really looking forward to seeing the outcome. And Alex, If you have any suggestions for an entry level introductory kit that is suitable for getting into sailing ships, I'd be grateful.

Very nice build Alex... looking forward to the super detailed DAFI build. Can you tell me where you bought the Dexter hobby knife you use in the video because I cannot seem to find it on the internet?
I bought in on a tool and Paint shoping mall here! Its a great knife and brinca a lot of blades
Outstanding!

Hey Mate!
Hi Alex I have two questions both to do with painting the first what copper spray paint did you use and the yellow did you use for the stripes?
The Yellow as you could see on the vídeo i made it, mixing several paints. And the copper was copper metálica paints from Mission Models:)
AlexModeling thanks Alex, I have had one suggestion of Tamiya XF15 flesh for the bands, and I think I’ll use copper tape.
The X15 is meant to be used as the recent color if VICTORY. I am using the Dark yellow ochre :)
Always enjoy your posts! Just curious if you have a “holy grail” kit that you would love to build or just have in the collection?
es muy grande, de que fabricante es,??? marca..???
Está em el Título... Heller
On my mothers side of the family a distant relative worked as a cook on victory
alex what was the manufacturer of the wood deck? and what was the color mix you used for victorys yellow it is a really good yellow color!
Thank you! Its an ochre color i mixed after reading the proportions of the Paint used back then with some help of Old yellow ochre Victory paints. The deck is from scale decks. What colours would you recommend to do the yellow stripes in?
I like the Yellow ochre! Personaly i orefer it to the new "pink" color
Hi Alex. I love your skill. I can't figure your accent.
Thank you! Stay safe!
can you still buy this kit?
I think so. There aren t rio Many bit i think so

The Revell " Nina " is a very good first level One i think
Mostra La sovrana dei mari.
the wooden deck looks nothing like the deck of Victory, I have been on board and the deck is a uniform colour, almost a pale grey.

Why didn't he just throw the kit out and make one from scratch. It would have been less work
