Script reading can be tough for non-English native people. English and its inflections are at times hard to grasp on the fly when reading other people's work.
Think of how hard it is to use sarcasm in type.

Well, it was his injuries that caused his career to suffer, not his English.
It was a mix of injuries, eventual bigger Japanese signings, I suppose English troubles at that point (he's gotten way better as you can tell from this interview), getting lost in the shuffle with other cruiserweights and stars, and the obvious poor booking. It's a shame because his signing at the time was considered a major coup, and the majority of the wrestlers both adored and idolized him. Daniel Bryan did the best he could to hype Kenta up as a big deal before his final PPV match.
