It's fun to listen to versions of this song
I love how old folk songs, well into the 20th Century, were passed along between artists and every rendition was unique. As a musician, that is what music is all about! Everything is licensed property now.
Rest in peace Grandpa, Grandma got to see you on valentines.
May God bless your grandparents and your family !!!
The old version is often better. It is for this song.
Never heard of this bloke but he is great-very original and no silly vibrato etc. Thanks for posting.
Love this song and this version is classic
The Roy acuff recording of this song is my favorite version of this song. But it's so neat to hear all the different variations of this.
There are so many...
He is great
Great recording thanks for sharing Interesting artist Cheers,Keith
Great stuff
From this valley they say you are going, I will miss your bright eyes and sweet smile, For they say you are taking the sunshine, that brightens our pathways awhile. (CHORUS) Come and sit by my side if you love me, do not hasten to bid me a-dieu, but remember the Red River Valley, and the cowboy who loved you so true.
2. I’ve been thinking a long time, my darlin’, Of the sweet words you never would say, now, alas, all my fond hopes must vanish. For they say you are going away. Repeat Chorus: Come and sit by my side if you love me, do not hasten to bid me a-dieu, but remember the Red River Valley, and the cowboy who loved you so true.
3. Do you think of the valley you’re leaving? Oh, how lonely and sad it will be! Do you think of the kind hearts you’re breaking, and the pain you are causing to me? Repeat Chorus: Come and sit by my side if you love me, do not hasten to bid me a-dieu, but remember the Red River Valley, and the cowboy who loved you so true.
4. I have promised you, darlin’, that never, will a word from my lips cause you pain; And my life, it will be yours forever If you only will love me again. Repeat Chorus: Come and sit by my side if you love me, do not hasten to bid me a-dieu, but remember the Red River Valley, and the cowboy who loved you so true.

Saddest song in the history of the whole goddam world. Background for "Grapes of Wrath." All of it.
this will be a perfect song to sing walking alongside an out of operation railroad tracks
I been looking the original version because Tombstone(the movie) when Dana Denaly sings, this version is priceless, also I like Michael Martin Murphey version
Original is by Harold weeks
As good as the best.
JIM LOBLEY, Like you, I have always loved this song, but are you seriously telling us that there have been no gripping songs written, sung and heard during the 93 years since this version ??
Can you listen without becoming sad?
Of course. I'm a homeless bum and I am spending my last weekend under a highway overpass because I was just visited by my outreach counsellor who informed me that on Monday morning I will be moving into my permanent apartment and I listened to this after I watched hallelujah I'm a bum and I. AM. HAPPY.
@@keithdtibbettskeith5658 May God bless you!!

@@BoxerThe210 All is a laundry detergent that I believe is not as good as Tide. But they are both exemplary in their performance compared to using a bar of soap and elbow grease on a washboard in the San Diego River in the middle of a poop filled bout with food sickness at midnight on a muggy summer night. So yeah I'm doing better than I was that night.
I'm guessing this tune inspired the Apples and Bananas kids song? They sound awfully similar.
Where have I heard this song I seem to know it so well but I don't know where from
Manitoba and Oklahoma both claim it, since it doesn't specify WHICH Red River.
What is it about women.....that they are always leaving....?
Enjoyed that he did the entire song but, as tone deaf as I am, I think his singing is not up to par.
