One of my worst jobs would be to be actively involved in politics. Politics is a dirty business, full of bullshit and power games etc. But I am writing a book about politics. That might sound counterintuitive to many.
The reason is that I think the role of political theorist, particularly when it encompasses a philosophy which aims to be thorough and profound, very much suits the INFJ personality. [It worked for a certain Austrian dictator lol] It has the human element allied to the detachment which INFJs are readily capable of, but without the problems of communicating directly with other humans and dealing in hierarchy, which we hate. The visionary can let loose, but also with an eye to reality in a human and practical way. The depth of insight and conviction to help make things better can be ideally combined. I have long felt my ideal role to be someone who is the ideas guy, the visionary behind the scenes/controller but not subordinate to him/her. An essential and important role, just not the one who does the dynamic bidding. I want the credit and visibility but only in a passive way, except for a close inner circle.
I think this is also why in general INFJs make good writers. It gives us time to think and allows creative expression.

I’m an INFJ & work in Government Admin (my role has a little bit of customer contact, mostly by email).
With being autistic, there’s a bit of a conflict. I love gathering knowledge on specific tidbits & giving advice, but dealing with strict demands & bureaucracy can be irksome. I think relationships with your work colleagues in whatever sector will make a big impact on your happiness in work too, more specifically for INFJ’s.

I never could understand why shallowness drove me crazy. I always thought it had to do with others and their flaws, until I learned about being an INFJ and my perspective which I thought was normal and I am learning it is not. I watched your best jobs video before this. Researching a topic to death and writing, writing, writing are my favorite past-times, but I told my husband the other day, I would really love helping people choose pool finishes for their swimming pools. Now how's that for a lucrative career? Ha, ha! I'm a 55 year-old grandma who raised a daughter and six sons fulltime. Raising my six little birdies was the best career ever!! Now they have flown the nest and I'm trying to settle on a new occupation and I think analyzing it is more fun than actually getting into something. I find myself keeping busy offering to help people multiple times per week with a myriad of service opportunities.

Worst job for me was either customer service (I was spat at, fondled, yelled at, had to clean people's bodily fluids, told to kill myself, etc.-- very worst of humanity on display) or aspects of teaching in a public school (the teaching itself was not the overwhelming bit). Those you mentioned all sound horrendous as well. On the flip side, I thoroughly enjoyed working in a coffee shop/library, as during down times I was allowed to read or write. Other pleasant jobs were as an amateur graphic designer doing freelance, editing a friend's short stories, and as a receptionist for a trade company (of which, I can credit my unhealthy obsession with stationary and office supplies. haha). People often say that customer service jobs are some of the worst jobs to have, but almost every job requires some measure of customer service. I don't think it would bring most INFJs into a state of nirvana, but it could be satisfying to know that you are often able to solve problems, and eliminate stress for someone.
